Australia’s Next Top Model – No We Don’t Want It To Be Politically Correct
I know I don’t watch Australia’s Next Top Model for just the pretty girls, but for cattiness that teenage girls are experts in. Also we don’t want the judges to NOT to tell us what we really think.
The Sun Herald is rapping the show over the knuckles because in the first episode, to air on April 28, Perry tells his fellow judges – the model agent Priscilla Leighton-Clark and former model Charlotte Dawson – that some contestants look like “Frankenstein”, “a wild pig”, “fat”, “a moose” and that one has “something spaz [spastic] with her teeth”.
Julie Parker from eating disorder group the Butterfly Foundation criticises these comments for the effect it may have on their self esteem.
This is reality TV I want to be entertained not lectured at.
It is going to be interesting to see how Sarah Murdoch balances her two roles of host of ANTM, and being the chairperson of the Government Advisory Group on Body Image.
Also apparently Clare Venema (pictured above) could be the new Alamela Rowen in the household as she is being picked on by Leah Jonson.
Australia’s Next Top Model premiers on Fox 8 on the 28 April at 7.30pm.
