Farmer Wants A Wife – Season 4 – Episode 1 – Speed Dating
Why is it when Farmer Wants A Wife host Natalie Gruzlewkis asks the farmers what they are looking for in a girl none of them ever say a great shag? Because you know that is what they are really wanting.
This is the fourth season of Farmer Wants A Wife and Channel 9 is pushing out a second season this year as it is one of the rating successes for the channel. And they are sticking to the format of this show. Natalie stands in the same spot at the same Hunter Valley abode to greet the farmers on the way to their speed dates with ten girls.
Tonight they meet with the ten women they picked out from the applications sent in to their profiles on the Channel 9 website. The thing that does make this show so successful is the applicants and the farmers are genuinely looking for love. If this was the US show a busload of blonde buxom girls would show up with shiny white teeth, looking at it as an opportunity to get on TV.
So how did the farmers go?
Farmer Scott, a sheep, cropping and cattle farmer, who received nearly 500 applications is definitely a cutie, however he seemed to lack personality this episode. At one stage when he was meeting with one of the girls there were some very awkward silences. I would have thought you would have at least five questions you would have in reserve just to get the conversation started.
He appeared to like Olivia the most, and she was one of the five girls he picked for the group date. He also picked Alison, Louisa, Angela, and Clare for the group date.
Farmer Russell a sheep and cattle farmer was not bad looking if you like that private school look, and he seemed to have no problem keeping the conversation going. He liked a lot of his girls and was having a hard time whittling it down to five. Three of his top five are Nat, Laura, and Colleen.
Farmer Phil, a cattle farmer, who is 42 apparently is a bit well-to-do if you believe Natalie. This is because he owns a ski chalet at the snow. He appears to be very keen to settle down. Not sure that his killer question of whether they liked brussel sprouts or not is really something that is going to be put in matchmaking agency questionnaires as a way of increasing the odds of finding true love.
Phil picked Georgie, Jane, and Jenny, and I am not sure who the other two were.
Farmer Brad from Lithgow who also works in the mines on the weekend appeared to hit it off with Stacey. Now I think this girl lives in the same area as him but have never met. The TV Week were saying that his father had met her at the pub, as she works there on weekends, and told his son he should meet her. Strange that you have to go on a national TV show to achieve that goal. I thought Brad had a high likeability factor.
His five girls he picked were Michelle, Kylie, Brooke, Stacie, and Amy.
Farmer Steve is a sugar cane farmer whose father Farmer Gavin is also on the show. Steven has a very broad Australian drawl, and he also appears to be a bit thick, or maybe he is just shy. Steven picked for his group date Danielle, Leah, Melissa, and Syan. I did not get the last girls name.
His father Farmer Gavin also a sugar cane farmer was getting right into the speed dating and planting a few kisses on him. I noticed that a lot of his older women were very touch feely. I reckon chances of him getting a shag before the show has ended are high. He particularly liked Kaye who he gave a kiss on the lips and the shoulder. I was surprised when he picked Therese this really full on woman for the group date. I suspect she is going to be really loud and annoying, but she did seem nice, but she just needs to learn to calm down.
Gavin got all teary when he had to tell the ladies who he had picked, it has clearly been a long time between drinks for this divorcee. He picked Karen, Jo, Rebecca, Kaye, and Therese. He also had a group hug for the top 10 ladies after he had read out the verdict. I am sure it was small consolation to the women who missed out.
Farmer Nate, a 37 year-old cattle and hay farmer, is also a cowboy who rides bulls. He is quite cute, and also very nice. He seemed to like Heidi the ballet instructor the best. The five girls he picked for his group date were Katrina, Leonie, Alison, Carmel, and Heidi.
Next week is the group dates, and then it really gets into the action when they select three girls to go out to the farm with them.
