Masterchef Australia Contestants Cooking Private Dinner Parties

Secret ingredient

Since MasterChef Australia finished I had been wondering what Andre Ursini had been doing. Andre was the likeable cook from Adelaide who specialised in Italian cooking. The Sun Herald reveals he has has been working in an Italian restaurant in Adelaide and filming a pilot for a new television show he is set to co-host. He has also been been asked to cook and speak in private households across Australia. Apparently he can earn up to to $3000 a pop doing this.

Andre is not the only former cheftestant doing private gigs most of them are, including Gina Papacostas and Aaron Thomas (the molecular gastronomy dude).

Three grand seems a lot to pay to get Andre around to my house. But I suppose if he made it worth my while…

I hope Andre’s not serving his strawberry risotto. It’s one thing for Matt to swallow because he likes Andre; totally different to pay $3K for the privilege!

As for Aaron, did he plate up anything remotely approaching palatable during the series?

Well, good luck to them, I say. Might as well get as much out of it as they can before they fade into relative obscruity. I guess people are paying for the ‘Masterchef’ experience as much as any culinary outcome – otherwise you’d trump up a bit more and get your choice of chef…Manu for me, Matt for Injera! :)

I wonder how much Matt would charge to be a private chef for a dinner party… Hmm, can I set up a wishlist, complete with button for donations?

Hot4Andre – so you would want the full tasting menu….

Injera and Wurstsemmel – I would have to gate crash both of your dinner parties. But would probably pay more for Matt Moran.

would Matt have to bring his advertised PRODUCTS along?
RR Again my point is proven. go on a show like this, become a media star? and get set up for life.
PS Wurst s No, Andre did not plate up anything to my memory even vaguely worthwhile
