That makes sense, Fleur, and it's good that the Qlders decided ahead of time to commit the three months, but I wonder about the WA teachers? How would they have managed their workplaces? Maybe I should work there...!

I'm a freelance event manager so getting time off would have been fairly easy for me and the friend I applied with is a sales agent in the gift industry so she is also very flexible. I read in the paper the other day that the Qld girls have dedicated 3 months to this show. The difference between this show and MC is that there was scheduled days or even a week or more at home between shooting days.

Shannon - I am not going to add to Jeb's response but will say on reality TV the more controversial you are the more screen time you get which is not a negative thing.

CG - maybe you need to show your husband Top Chef now that is a cracker of a show.

Injera - agree about the breast instead of leg, also I agree someone will go.

Fleur, Laura, and Eva how did they arrange time off work if htey only had 2 days notice of going on the show?

Reality Tv is anything but!
I think our current politicians are copying the spin of these shows.

Finally watched this.

Did I hear Marc say "it's practially ten o'clock" when they were getting their mains out? I hope the east coast visitors hadn't flown in that morning - they would have been STARVING.

Was also surprised that they did duck breast confit rather than leg. I wonder why they decided to put something on their menu that was 1. unusual and 2. relied on an ingredient that they would struggle to find (although - really? Duck fat is hard to find?).

I'm interested that some people think there might be a "twist" with no team being eliminated. I listened carefully to the voiceover at the beginning and the phrasing was "will be eliminated" (my years of Phil watching come to the fore). I'd be really disappointed if they didn't eliminate one team.

We really had to proceed as if we had been accepted otherwise we would have been really behind the 8 ball. The last shooting schedule I saw was Melbourne first and Brisbane second so that gave us very few days at home before it would have been our turn. As for clothes, we had a Brisbane designer lined up to lend us all the clothing we needed for the series. I can only assume all the other contestants were equally prepared but as an event manager it causes me physical pain to watch the show and see people execute an event without so much as a run sheet or task allocation.

Eva - The contestants were only told that they were part of the show two days before shooting started. I don't know about you, but I would be absolutely frantic trying to get myself looking perfect for tv (new clothes, makeup, hair) as well as fixing up the house (all their homes are absolutely immaculate), and all while I'm not travelling from state to state each week. Also, the menus were submitted as part of the audition process and, at the time, they were unaware of the 3 hour prep rule. So that explains (at least to me) their lack of practice and over-adventurous menus. Maybe Fleur can give more insight though :)
