Masterchef Australia Two New Advertisement And Launch

Masterchef Australia Season Two launched last night in Sydney to much media fanfare.

TV Tonight said the top five from last year’s series were in attendance were there apart from Poh Ling Yeow who was sick. I am not even going to ramp up an ABC conspiracy theory on this one, as it would have been good publicity for her show if she had attended.

Pity I was  not there as I could have asked Chris Badenoch about the reasons behind his split with Beermasons (See previous blog post here.)

The TV Tonight blog outlines the first 50 contestants by states:

New South Wales: 14
Victoria: 14
South Australia: 10
Queensland: 6
Western Australia: 4
Tasmania: 2

Tasmanians will be pleased they were not ignored like on My Kitchen Rules and hopefully one of them will get through to the top 24.

George Calombaris says the contestant’s are better then last season.

It will premier at the end of April.

As regular readers of this blog will know this was the GO TO place for all information, recaps, and gossip on the show, as it will be again this year.  Hopefully Injera will again be involved in the coverage of this three month reality TV marathon.

The Masterchef Australia website will be upgraded to include full-length catch-up episodes,  contestant interviews, profiles, viewer forums and video of contestants’ signature dishes. Again Channel Ten is leading the other TV station’s with their social media, and multi media strategy.

The posts and discussions on this blog were far better than at the Masterchef site. That’s how Iinitially wandered over….and how you haven’t been able to get rid of me since :)

I loved first season of MC and didn’t miss a moment! But unfortunately I only became aware of this site during Beauty and the Geek of all things – I would’ve loved to read the discussions from MC Season 1. So I’m looking forward to the blog on Season 2. Cheers!

Can’t wait for it to begin! Wish they set a date so i could count down the days!

I’m surprised the ad is so cheesy this year – the “Oliver” thing is so much less dramatic than last year’s operatic chop-fest.

Oh, am soooooo looking forward to this, though. No matter what Hungry Beast says, MKR has not spoiled me for the main event (although I’m hanging out for Lifestyle Food to screen the real MC – it’s either finished or about to and I’ll have trouble avoiding spoilers…).

I saw an extended “First Look” preview of MC Season 2 on 10 last night totally different from the youtube video above. It was a couple of minutes long and showed short scenes from the top 50 and what looks like Top 24 as it is in the normal MC kitchen. What immediately struck me was that overall the Top 50 looked “more mature” than last season and do look like an interesting bunch.

They showed guest judges like Neil Perry, Matt Moran and it could have been Donna Hay in the background too and some guy saying how Neil Perry is his inspiration and there he is serving up a plate of food to him.

The sneak peak did give me those feel good tingles, and I now want the show to start today.

Also, I just watched the youtube link above, and for one horrifying moment thought that this was new theme music for the show…
