Jersey Shore – Reality TV Is A Legitimate Career Path

If you have children who are currently wondering what to do with their lives DON’T let them read this blog post.

Recently I have been reflecting on whether I had made the correct career choices in my life considering I could have learnt to have make a killer martini and become a cocktail waitress. Going on the recent payouts for Rachael Uchitel, Sarah Larson, and Ronaldo’s mother of his child, I would be retired by now.

However if balancing drinks on trays and dodging wandering hands from leery old men does not appeal appearing on a reality TV show should be considered.  Particularly after I learnt that the cast of Jersey Shore earn $10,000 per episode. However this was not enough and they went on strike to get more. The LA Times Blog suggests they are now earning close to $30,000 an episode.

Seriously for that money I would gladly go out get pissed make sure I danced so my crotch would have to be pixelated, and snog guys with IQ’s of about 90. Would you?

Because Snookie needs love and Jwoww needs guidance…..they don’t come cheap. Unlike the dregs that The Situation manages to score at the end of the night.

Is ‘career’ the correct term here? How about we just say that “reality tv can be a lucrative way of making money by not doing anything productive.” At least ‘career’ criminals keep cops, journos, insurance firms and hospitals in work. And ‘career’ sex workers ensure ‘executive relief’. I presume these bozos are now paying tax? Or are soon about to.

Does anyone know if/how much contestants for masterchef etc get paid?

After contestants are eliminated (especially early on in the season) whats the incentive to get travelling the country, disrupting their jobs to keep the rating up?
