Survivor Nicaragua – The Tribes Are Switched Around

Well one question was answered about the Medallion of Power, it was there to try and give the older tribe a leg up in challenges, as it has now disappeared now with the mixing up of the tribes. Clearly they had to mix it up before the older team were completely decimated.

Holly was captain of one team and got to pick four of the younger tribe. She picked Alina, Tryone, Naonka and Benri who I have barely seen in the first four episodes.

Whereas Brenda had to pick three from the older tribe, and she picked Marty, Jill and Jane.

Holly and Naonka bonded as they are both nuts and formed an alliance.

Maybe Naonka is a scrag but she is not dumb “I am going to go where the numbers are” and Holly was trying to make the numbers. Former enemies Alina and Naonka also bonded. Alina was also who Naonka leaned on when she thought she was going to quit.

In the other new tribe Marty said he had the immunity idol, as he figured Jane would blab to the younger team mates. Either way he was fucked as they thought he was arrogant and now he had a target on his head as well.

Jane who is suddenly becoming a bit of a player was putting the knife into him and Jill. Lucky for Marty his team won the immunity challenge tonight as his head would have been on the chopping block.

A bit like the chicken. I loved the way the camera crew also thought they were dumb for killing a chicken instead of a rooster by showing a shot of them eating the chicken with the rooster in the background. Didn’t anyone think it through at all? You don’t need a rooster to get eggs, and if you wanted to breed you are not going to be on the island long enough.

However Tyrone who I had liked up until this week, just behaved like a douche. Anyone who has watched a fair bit of Survivor could see that he was taking himself out of the game with his domineering attitude with the new tribe mates. It is a social peer group game. He tried to tell people not to eat the chicken, then sulked about it, and then ate most of it. This is the type of stuff that will have Jeff Probst whispering in your ear “the tribe has spoken”.

Tribal Council was a bit dull until Naonka revealed she was divorced and that had been the hardest thing in her life. Also she revealed she got more support from her tribemates then when she was going through her divorce. Clearly she is as obnoxious in real life as well if her family and friends did not rally at this time.

Prediction: Dan to win as he is such a nonentity everyone just forgets about him. However I wrote that before seeing next week’s preview where he talks about leaving the game.

Anyhow here is Jeff Probst’s blog on the episode, and an exit interview with Tyrone from the Examiner where he denies eating the majority of the chicken.

I’m so disappointed with this season so far… it’s missing something… drama maybe… maybe bigger personalities… who knows… but if it doesn’t pick up soon there’s going to be trouble.

I love Jeff Probst’s blog – love him!

Nay is totally mental – I think we’ll see some lovely meltdowns from her in future episodes. I haven’t watched survivor week to week since about 2002 and I can see again why its been going so long – its a strong format. The only think I don’t like now is the excessive product placement in reward prizes! Fabio FTW

Angie – I love Jeff Probst’s blog it is always my fave thing to read after I have written by blog post.

Shelsta78 – After a few flat seasons in the early teens it has picked up again as a series.

Tyrone was originally in the oldies tribe
I was sad to see him go and his tribe will probably regret at this early stage that they got rid of someone physically strong who would have been able to help them in the challenges (at least till the merge).
This is disappointing so far. Noone to really hate (Naonka is just a fruit loop so cant really hate her) and no real eye candy (a la the incredibly gorgeous blonde Natalie to “root” for) and jiffy anal probes blatherings are unchanged.
Dont know if I’ll last the distance

I’m really enjoying this season but, admittedly, I haven’t watched much of any of the last few seasons so I can’t compare it to anything.

BTW, I read all of Jeff’s blogs for this season so far and he is so good! I love getting insight into how he feels about what is going on and for him to be so truthful about it!
