Matt Newton Agrees To AVO Conditions
Former The X Factor Host has agreed to the AVO conditions outline in court today.
The Australian reports:
Newton, who has been in a rehabilitation clinic since August for treatment for an unspecified mental illness, today consented to the conditions of an apprehended domestic violence order.
Under the terms of the two-year AVO, the Underbelly star must not stalk, intimidate or harass Taylor.
Newton briefly glanced at Taylor during the 10-minute court hearing in Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court, but his ex-lover did not return his gaze.
The actress appeared visibly upset at the conclusion of the matter but was more composed outside court, when she thanked those who had helped her through her ordeal.
“Today was a first and necessary step,” she told reporters.
Magistrate Jane Culver warned Newton that if he breached the AVO, he could face a jail sentence of up to two years.
Newton’s lawyer Chris Murphy told the court that while his client consented to the conditions of the AVO, he made no admissions of guilt.
