Masterchef Australia – Alumni Updates
What do you do when you are having a slow reality news day? Well start trawling for Masterchef Australia news and updates.
For those who are wanting to try last years winner Adam Liaw cooking he has a special event at Quay Restaurant with Peter Gilmore on the 9 February. It coincides with the unveiling of The Egg Project.
The Quay website states:
The Egg Project defies what most consider rational about nature, winemaking and the boundaries of organic consciousness.
Be amongst the first to experience a bracket of new naturally conceived beverages from the great new outfit; The Natural Selection Theory, as well as the Egg Project itself. Quay chef Peter Gilmore and guest chef 2010 Masterchef winner Adam Liaw have designed a 5 course menu that will frame what is the true birth of Australian Natural Wine.
$330 per person all inclusive. Full payment is required to confirm your spot. Seats are strictly limited.
For bookings please contact Quay on 9251 5600 or complete the ‘The Egg’ dinner booking form.pdf

For probity purposes I will reveal I do know one of the wine makers involved in the Egg Project, however I don’t know Adam Liaw or Peter Gilmore unfortunately. And the wine? Well it is not too shabby at all.
In other Masterchef Australia news runner up to Adam, Callum Hann has done his three month work experience in Melbourne with George Calombaris, however he is now back home in the Barossa.
The Barossa Herald states:
While Callum enjoyed his time in Victoria, he felt Melbourne doesn’t have the friendliness and community spirit the Barossa has. “I also missed cooking with local produce. In Melbourne, fresh produce was expensive and hard to come by.”
His future plans include following in the footsteps of Melbourne’s Stephanie Alexander’s Kitchen Garden, which seeks to change the way children approach and think about food. This involves children learning how to grow, harvest, prepare and share fresh seasonal food.
One person who will be spending time in Melbourne is Season 1 contestant Justine Schofield. It has been announced she will host a new food lifestyle program for Channel Ten and Lifestyle Channel. They are also looking for food experts to go on the show. If you are interested go here to apply. No news when her new show will air.
By the way does anyone know when Jimmy Seervai is going to open his Indian restaurant in Surry Hills?
