Matt Newton Back In Court- And Patti Finally Turns Up

This is when you have to be a mother and Patti Newton thankfully turned up in court to provide some support to her son Matthew Newton.

Matthew was in Downing St today to respond to breaching his AVO against former girlfriend Rachael Taylor.

He rang her and then texted her to apologise for phoning her.

Interestingly enough his lawyer said he will be applying under the section 32 of the Mental Health Act in his next court appearance.

It has been reported previously that his mental illness does not have a diagnosis.

Anyway it was good to see Patti Newton finally give some unconditional love to her son and be there with him. Instead of telling the world about their family troubles on national TV. Quite frankly I would like to know where Bert was.

Matt Newton has booked himself back into a private hospital where hopefully he is getting the treatment he requires.

UPDATE: The Daily Telegraph reports that Patti wants him to move back to Melbourne, but he is refusing to do so. The article also states that Matthew was looking medicated in the court room. Ok that is how I am interpreting the dazed and confused phrase.

Bert was probably busy in the “Media-land”, which of course, is more important than his own flesh and blood.

Bert probably want the focus to be on him being there. Hopefully he slipped in the back door

Yeah i’m torn on this one.
I think he has a history of domestic violence and anybody else would have seen jail time by now – so this part is not fair to his victims.
But i do agree that the Newtons haven’t acted like much of a family. That ACA interview was a poor attempt to try and wash their hands of him and in the process save Berts career.
As much as a career is important i think family should have come first – but hey maybe that mixup in priorities was part of the problem when Matthew was growing up that may have contributed to his issues now. Does anybody else get the sense he’s an angry young boy screaming out in frustration for some attention here, even if it of the worst kind???
JMO.

From the footage I saw this morning,he hasn’t been doing much besides eating, texting and making phone calls. Check out his underbelly. He could end up a fattie like Bert.

Good on Patty for turning up. I don’t think Mathew was belted because of what the journalist wrote. There are a lot of people who don’t like women being beaten. One good thing may come out of this, Mathew now has experience what it is like to be belted. He didn’t like it, and neither did his victims. He didn’t learn by the incident with Brooke, because if he did he would not have done what he did to Rachel. He need to stand up and take his punishment like a man, even if he has a mental illness, he is clearly a danger to other.

I feel for for family. It is all so public for them, whatever they do they will be judged. Matthew looked terrified with those wild eyes. He is really very unwell and needs to get better without the media’s frenzied interest. Let him recover and come to terms with what he has done in the past and learn it is unacceptable behaviour and control his anger. He is so screwed up!!!

Bert was too busy perving on his recent naughty 20 to 1 show. Obviously wax jobs, pole dancing and plastic boobs are of greater interest to him. Real classy show (didnt watch it but saw the ads)

Sourkraut – tell me you are not serious about what that 20 to 1 is about. Was there really a naughty 20 to 1.
God Channel 9 really need to get their shizzle together. Seven is just having open slather at them moment.

I feel for the family too. People will always blame the mother, no matter what happens.

When this all kicked off I read two articles blaming patti – one said she had clearly spoiled matt. the other said she had clearly always ignored him. She can’t win.

Matthew is merely obeying Newton’s Law of Gravity.

Don’t know about blaming Bert and Pattie as the daughter Lauren has stayed out of trouble,it would appear.
