The Block To Be Filmed In Melbourne? Are These The Houses?

The Block this year will be filmed in Melbourne for the first time, all previous episodes have been filmed in Sydney. One of the changes to the show is that this time it will be houses instead of apartments.

A reader disguised as a rottweiler, has kindly taken some photos of filming taking place in some rundown houses in Richmond. Is this the set for The Block in Cameron St? There a definite cameras in the shot, however with the plethora of design shows being shot at the moment in Australia this could be another show…

One change that won’t be occurring on the show is the host will stay the same. Scott Cam will continue in the role. Scott was involved in one of the most uncomfortable moments on TV last year when in the final episode when he had nothing to say when Brenton and Chez’s apartment passed in. Let us hope he is feeling more confident in the role this year or someone gives him a script on what to say if this occurs again.

TV Tonight has said they have heard rumours The Block will be aired at 7.00pm to get the viewers before they turn to Masterchef Australia. Will that timeslot get you to watch it?

I’ll be watching for sure. I really liked The Block last year and it will be great to see the Chez types “in their natural habitat”. Houses will be interesting as well (a bigger challenge). That said there would be less arguments/drama as the contestants won’t be living in the same building and have all those issues surrounding strata.

Yeah, how is there any point to the show at all without the aggro of people sharing a building? I predict this will be even less compelling than last year (and that was about as compelling as Aaron’s pizza hut ad).

Skye – Good point about the less aggro if they are not sharing a building, but hopefully the producers will have some tricks up their sleeves for creating friction. I hope they tone down the sponsors advertorials this year.

Miss Piggy – Yes it will be interesting to compare all the design shows this year. This one, The Renovators, and Top Design.

Less inclined to watch. Loved The Block in previous seasons but last year’s wasn’t even a pale imitation. It was more about interior design, no full on renovation and too much assistance allowed. Understand that certain electrical/plumbing jobs must be done by professionals but, otherwise, the hard work should be done by the teams. And the final straw for me was Scott Cam, even without the Speedos, he’s hard to take.

And it’s not really the BLOCK if it’s four separate houses is it? That’s what also made it watchable – the interaction of the four competing teams.

I predict a win for the team that gets a cheap rising damp expert.

This is The Block – I don’t think they bother with damp they just paint over it and let the unsuspecting buyers deal with it in a years time.

Scotty must have been flat out like a lizard drinking putting in patios and pavers for the producers to get the gig again this year.

There should be a Logie for the Luckiest Bastard To Have A Job In TV. Scotty would romp in every year.

I hope he’s put in the hard yards learning some ad libs and ice breakers for those embarrassing moments this year.

[…] Block is filming in Melbourne in Cameron St, Richmond see previous blog post here. By the look of the houses it still appears to be a way to go before the renovation is […]

Would be great if it was filmed in Melbourne, agree it would be better with more renovation in the show.

I have never seen a house that has been built on the same day as the concrete stumps went in and they build the joists and the bearers on the same day That would go for 3 of the block houses but the will always escape me is the one on the end where once a house that burnt down and totally burnt the side off the house that now stands there the old owner just slapped new weather boards on it and a new roof on one side just to hide the burnt frame ….. Its just a case of the buyer beware …. Just look at how the paint is already pealing off the roof and how many paint runs are on the front fence and that should give you an idea of what crap these houses realy are …… and if your not convinced just look at the ceiling and count the joins and then think how much it will cost you to make this house livable
