Dancing With The Stars – Rivalry Between Todd McKenney and Josh Horner

Well I finally got to watch Manu Feildel and Lara Bingle on Dancing With the Stars, and Manu was really impressive on his feet. He will be hard to beat. Lara Bingle was pretty good as well.

Fingers crossed Brynne Edelsten stays in and I will be a happy camper.

The Dancing With The Stars publicity team must be very happy with the newspaper inches they have received this week, first with the Brynne Edelsten scandal and the latest today involving the alleged “rivalry” between Todd McKenney and the new judge Josh Horner.

The Daily Telegraph reports Todd McKenney is a bit miffed that Josh Horner is taking on a nasty judge role.

Of course Todd McKenney denies this but gives Josh a gentle backhander.

The article states:

Replacing Mark Wilson on the panel alongside McKenney and Helen Richey, Horner caused a stir with his caustic comments, seemingly taking the “tough love” role traditionally filled by McKenney in his seven years on the show.

McKenney admitted to Confidential yesterday that he was surprised by Horner’s judging approach but denied rivalry rumours.

“I don’t really know Josh well so it’s hard to know how he will go but it was interesting to see his approach on Sunday,” he said.

“I don’t think we compete. Well, I certainly don’t. But whether he wants to be the new ‘mouthy judge’ … I’m happy to hand him my hat and flak jacket.”

As for talk he and Horner “flat out” don’t like each other, McKenney laughed: “Josh seems like a lovely guy. He’s a bit like a kid in a candy store. I’ve been doing this for seven years so it’s a bit like going to Luna Park with a child – you see it through their eyes and it’s all exciting again. But it’s good to have a new take on things. It makes me polish my game a bit.

Todd also thinks Nathan Bracken will be the first dancer to be eliminated.

What are your thoughts on Josh Horner or is it to early to tell what he will be like?

I think he’s a breath of fresh air, and i’m not just saying that because I think he’s cute (and possibly not straight which would be awesome! lol). I think he has alot more warmth than Mark did. Mark was great, but I didn’t realise how much better it could be until Sunday night. If Josh keeps mixing it up like that, then the show will be better for it.

He’s got a sense of humour, is warm when required and harsh when required. He translates through the TV which I personally never felt that Mark did. But that’s just me anyway :)

Josh judgement is different from the other 2 judges in term of dancing techniques and is he trying too hard to be different?

I only saw an hour of Sunday night’s ep and I always think that the judges are rude and too harsh as afterall the F Grade “Stars” are working pretty hard and some money is going to charity, I don’t see why they have to be so rude. I’ll have to study it harder for the next ep. I personally think that before the show starts a BIG Channel 11 Ad for So You Think You Can Dance US should come up, as 7.30pm Friday nights (and now an hour on Sat nights) are the best dancing that anyone could see. The current season that is showing has the top 11 versus past favourites. Now THAT’S Dancin…..
