Reality Tidbits – Sunday Edition

Anthony Bourdain takes a swipe at Tony Bilson who was moderating the AA Gill and Anthony Bourdain session at the Sydney Writers Festival.

SMH reports he said:

Over the course of what Bourdain later tweeted was ”like a slow-motion colonoscopy” (Bourdain also retweeted the rhetorical ”How crap was Tony Bilson as moderator at the A.A. Gill and Anthony Bourdain talk last night? Yawn”) we are told Bilson by turns bored, irritated and inflamed the room with his own observations, among them the notion that ”a good meal is like a landscape on a plate”. Whereupon Gill reached for his drink, and, lancing the pretension of his host, said ”Then this is a river in a glass.”

Project Runway Australia Season 3 will be premiering on 4 July. Megan Gale is the new host, taking over from Kristy Hinze who is pregnant with her first child, which is a girl. The mentor is Alex Perry, and the judges are Kirrily Johnston and Jarrad Clark.

Jackie Frank’s new reality TV show which will be set in the Marie Claire offices will hopefully be better than Park St. It premieres soon on 7Two on Friday at 7.00pm.

The X Factor group Mahogany will be playing Friday 27th May at The Juniors club. Sally Chatfield will be supporting and it will be an all ages gig.

Reality TV star Imogen Thomas is in the centre of a storm of allegations she has had an affair with a soccer player. The soccer player involved had taken out an injunction so he could not be named in the English papers, however someone named him on twitter. He then threatened to sue twitter. Since then it went viral on twitter with about 30,000 people tweeting about it. Twitterers are alleging it is Ryan Giggs who is the footballer involved. (Source: Daily Mail and Twitter)

True that on your first entry. My son and I were there (glimpsed Adam Liaw) and turned to each other at the end and said “Bilson was crap”. Bourdain and Gill were quick, witty, funny, irreverent and informative. Bilson was embarrassingly slow and stodgy and continually committed the unforgivable sin of the interviewer / facilitator – constantly interrupting and speaking over the top of the people we wanted to listen to! We wished they could have had Andrew Denton instead of Tony bilson.
