Hayden Quinn Still Doing Some Lifeguard Work

Masterchef Australia’s golden child Hayden Quinn today was one of the first on the scene of a fatal light plane crash on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

TV Tonight using the Manly Daily as it source says the former Masterchef contestant had been training nearby. The lifeguards were training for the first day of the season which is tomorrow.

The plane crash was a fatal one.

I must confess I was surprised he is still doing lifesaving work post Masterchef. I thought he was in talks for a TV show. Anyway he is was definitely doing a worthier job today. Nice work Hayden.

It shouldn’t be a surprise. Lots of promises are made but how many are genuine? Or he might be hanging out for a better deal. Most masterchef contestants need to pay the bills. And he did appear very stilted on camera. With all the supposedly great cooks from season 2 there don’t appear to be any that have a show even a year later.

It’s too bad he can’t save himself from drowning in a sea of mediocrity.

Hayden’s made a statement on facebook saying he wasn’t directly involved in the rescue but commending those who were. What a nice guy. But there’s Ch 10 news footage of him in wetsuit at the scene on one of the links in the comments section.

Personally I think saving people (helping people in general) is more rewarding than being able to cook a good meal. To that end I’m kinda happy he didn’t win now, as if he did it would be one less lifeguard out there fighting Cthulhu and the other horrors of the sea. :)
