The X Factor – Dance Anthems – But How Many Could You Actually Dance To?
It was dance anthem night and did they only have the Best of David Guetta album to pick from as half of the contestants sang David Guetta songs. So if you are not a fan tonight was going to be difficult to stomach. I blame the producers for this.
Also the judges seemed to think it was OK if the singer “did not nail the vocals” or actually perform a song you could not dance to.
Reece Mastin – Staying Alive -Bee Gees
He did a rock version of the Bee Gee’s classic. He sang it well however I don’t think this song really suited the rock and roll treatment. Even the audience looked like they were having a hard time getting into it.
Mel B thought Guy cheated as it was dance week not rock week. Ronan thought they had seen the same from him each week, but he wants to see something different. However he did say he sang it well.
Declan Sykes – Walking On A Dream – Empire Of The Sun
At one stage I thought he was going to be singing Turning Japanese. It was a weak performance as well as dull.
Mel B really enjoyed the performance, as it made her smile. Ronan said you went for the falsetto and you nailed it. Natalie thought he looked uncomfortable, something he denied.
Christina Parie – When Love Takes Over – David Guetta (feat Kelly Rowland)
She played the piano again, I always find she gets a bit pitchy when she does this. However she is talented, however her vocals were all over the shop, maybe she was worried about falling off the cube she was standing on.
Ronan said “it wasn’t vocal perfect but you were brilliant”. Natalie loved it. Guy said it was not perfect but she smashed it out of the ball park.
Andrew Wishart – Titanium – David Guetta (feat Sia)
Where was the dance in this song? Vocally he was good, but I just found it bland.
Guy thought the song was a big risk. and thought the first half was all over the shop. Mel B agreed with Guy, I note she did not have a go at him for turning a dance song into a ballad.
Johnny Ruffo – Without You – David Guetta (feat Usher)
It was a typical Ruffo performance, weak vocals and a few dance moves.
Mel B thinks there is something about him. Ronan thinks he is a great performer but he did not nail the vocals.
Three Wishez – I Feel For You/ Push It – Chaka Khan
Take note it is possible to dance and stay in tune, the girl in this group manages it week after week. Again they were the most entertaining performance of the week. Oh and they were about the only ones that actually did a rendition of a song you could dance to.
All the judges loved it.
Bottom two predictions – Declan Sykes and Johnny Ruffo. Andrew was dull but I think he has a niche audience that are voting for him.
