Sonia Kruger Wants The Sleaze Out Of Big Brother

Sonia Kruger has told the Sun Herald  that she wanted Big Brother to be suitable family viewing and less of the sleaze it had become at Network Ten.

The now Channel Nine stars new morning show kicks off tomorrow with co-host David Campbell. However whilst doing publicity for that show she talked about Big Brother.

She said:

“One of the things I was keen to make sure was that Big Brother was going to be more family-friendly, because of the time slot – because you’ve got a lot of kids watching at 7pm.”

Hopefully it won’t be too sanitised as that could make it very bland indeed. There should also be a Big Brother up late show once a week so they can show case the bawdy talk and action.

Also isn’t it Big Brother – Secrets? Surely some are going to have to be tawdry.

In other Big Brother news there is a rumour that Chrissie Swan may take up reporting duties on the set of the revamped show.

Mornings on Channel Nine starts Monday 5 February at 9.00am.

Big Brother will screen later this year on Channel Nine.

Its a very fine line between family friendly and boredom – I certainly agree that the smuttiness Gen-Y seasons of BB were the worst, but we dont want to see another ‘The Family’. BB needs housemates ranging from 19-65. It was interesting to watch the latest season of CBB UK, where the winner was a 53 year old drunken woman, the runners up were a 19 year old bad-boy-turned-good and a 40-something man with attitude, while the young hot things were eliminated early on for being too boring. I think the UK has struck gold with that formula, and I would really want NINE to take a look at their structure.

Also, RR – I think the ‘Secrets’ twist is now canned. It was a bit too gimmicky anyways.

The attention seeking, shallow drongoes that this show attracts guarantees sleaze and low brow culture. No need to worry.

BDD – are you going to watch? BTW from another comment thread. Monty is now a personal trainer.

I Make The Show – Oh I had not heard they had canned the secrets aspects of the show.

I am planning to watch, RR but quite often I’ll have the mute on and play music over it. The conversation is rarely elevated ie who can forget six cretins in a spa arguing over whether you need a rooster to make a chicken? Or a contestant not knowing where the Berlin Wall is?

I can’t resist train wrecks like that. The producers want a good turkey slapping.

Sonia be damned. I’m only be watchin’ if they manage to progress the action to a ‘turkey gobbling’ this season. Otherwise it’ll be a case of Nine having another overhyped dud program to make a matching set with Excess Baggage.
