Jason Derülo to Headline New Singing Competition in Australia
American singer and Lara Bingle’s one-time flame, Jason Derülo will be giving aspiring Aussie singers the chance to go from auditions to the worldwide stage.
He is committed to appear in new reality competition Making Future History, in conjunction with his new record label Future History. Details of the new show is limited, but contestants are likely to vie for recording contracts with Derülo’s company.
The R’n’B star will head to our shores later this year to film the program, which has been toted as “the talent show with substance”.
As The Daily Telegraph reports:
Australian management company Showcase of Stars head Clarissa Mansbridge said the Ridin’ Solo singer was “100 per cent on board for the project. It is still in pre-production and we will be releasing something later this month, but Jason has definitely signed on,” Mansbridge said yesterday.
Derülo, who is currently dating American Idol winner Jordin Sparks, says Australia is his favourite place and that he wants the show to be set exclusively here.
It will be a while before we get to see the show, but will Aussie viewers be bored of the talent-search genre with programs like The Voice Australia, The X Factor Australia, Young Talent Time and Australia’s Got Talent?
The music and TV landscape here is probably easier to break into than in the States. There’s already too much of everything over there.
