Joel Madden Clears Up Rumours of Divorce with Nicole Richie
Despite spending a lot of his time in Australia for upcoming talent quest The Voice Australia, judge and mentor Joel Madden insists that his family is still the number one priority.
Madden issued an extensive statement to affirm that his marriage to fashion designer and former reality star Nicole Richie is hunky-dory.
The Good Charlotte singer and father to Harlow and Sparrow addressed the widespread divorce rumours, saying:
‘I don’t usually comment on gossip, but seeing as this is something that is defaming my character and the sanctity of my marriage and family, I feel like I have to make something clear.”
“…I love music and will always work the hardest I can to provide for my family, but not at any cost. My family’s well being and privacy will always come first.”
Madden will no doubt spend more time apart from his family with his work on the Channel Nine singing comp, while Richie attends to her own business in the States.
He says he tries very hard to be a good husband to his wife and a good father to his children, and defends his decision to release the recent statement:
“…I just felt the need to say this because if in fact my children do read all the stories that have and will be written by a media that does not care about sacred things like family and marriage, I hope they also find this statement.”
Joel Madden is set to star in The Voice Australia on Channel Nine, alongside Delta Goodrem, Keith Urban and Seal.
