The Voice Australia highlights – Casey Withoos

21 year-old Casey Withoos from Melbourne was the first to audition on Sunday’s premiere episode and impressed the judges with Regina Spektor’s ‘Samson’.

Prior to The Voice, she’s been in two productions with the Boilerhouse Theatre Company in Sunbury, Victoria, the first being a comic opera called Pirates of Penzance in November 2010 and later, Hair – The Musical in November 2011 (image below, click to enlarge).

Casey has been uploading videos to her YouTube page ChaseSpace, for almost a year now, but many of the early ones aren’t videos of her own. It was only six months ago that she first uploaded a video of original content, being her audition clip for The Voice! She sings ‘Grenade’ by Bruno Mars on keyboard, which is only one of many instruments that she can play, others being the clarinet and bassoon.

Check out her ‘Grenade’ audition here:

Other videos on her page have been uploaded in the last week or so, and includes a cover of Christine Perri’s ‘Jar of Hearts’, which you can watch below! In the video, Casey addresses the video as a dedication to her ‘dear, dear wifey’.

You can also revisit her on-stage performance for the judges, here:

Casey also maintains a Twitter account, which she opened just days before her TV debut. Follow her on @CaseyWithoos.

Casey had the option to choose any of the four judges as her mentor, and opted for Seal.
