Pawn Stars Starts On A&E Friday 8 June At 7.30pm – More Highbrow Than The Name Suggests

If you are expecting Pawn Stars to be about skanky strung out people going into a pawn shop flogging their third ipad of the week think again.

It is a tad different from the clientele and products like the ones local ones in my area, which just has a steady stock of mobile phones, jewellery and CD’s. Yes you get it portable stuff….

Pawn Stars which starts its seventh series tonight on A&E is a tad more highbrow then that.

This pawn shop in Las Vegas might get a few busted out gamblers and no under dressed showgirls, is a bit like a modern antiques roadshow with the pawnbrokers getting interesting historical and collectors items. This can include American memorabillia like a canon which they pay a good five figures for to an early Wurlitzer jukebox.

Not bad viewing and they do give little nuggets of information about the items. So if you are a fan of interesting memorabilia like Antiques Roadshow but want a bit more spice/drama with it this could be the show for your.

Pawn Stars starts tonight June 8 on A&E and will screen every weeknight at 7.30pm.

That show has been on 7Mate for ages, why are you suddenly advertising it?

It’s not really Reality TV is it?

I actually went to the store a couple of months ago when visiting Vegas. It clearly isn’t Reality TV however and is well scripted with customers/items being well sourced before filming occurs every month. It has been shown on the History Channel for the past 2 years also.

My husband is totally into this along with American Pickers and Repo – I think they a tad Reality with a lot of scripted……

Sue – Series 7 starts tonight on A&E they get the series before 7Mate.

Bella Vita – They moved it off History now as it is on the ‘blokes’ reality TV channel. Isn’t every reality TV show scripted. Did you buy anything there?

Sioux Denim – my partner has just discovered the channel he dips in and out of it. It is for males what Lifestyle You is for females.

Is Lifestyle You a free to air channel? If so, what number? We just watch all of these I think on Gem 73…

I find this show so depressing and gross. I cannot abide anything from the redneck scripted reality genre, all those swamp people and whatnot. Bleurgh.

Sioux Denim, Lifestyle You is on Austar channel 120, each show is repeated 2 hrs later on 160. I love this channel, it has Dance Moms, Toddlers and Tiaras, Mary Portias, Queen of Shops, Four Weddings, Celebrity Wife Swap, to name a few. However I don’t get to watch it much as my husband takes it over to watch CAR RACING ALL DAY! I’ve given up arguing and just watch free to air channels unless he goes out! I really need a second set top box but refuse to pay another $20 a month to get one. Some of these shows will end up on 7mate or gem ( which is channel 80 up here in regional qld ) but they go through pay tv first.

RR: Yep I brought Mr Bella Vita a model car and 2 tshirts.
The store is almost only packed of their own merchandise for sale…very little in the way of rare items or pawn shop type stuff. Very tiny as oppossed to how it looks…they will let you take pics in there, but not of the loan counter.
Staff were friendly…huge line at the front, about 1/2 hour wait to get inside. Hot dog stand and taxis waiting in the car park next door. In the old part of Vegas, pretty dingy and depressing….15 min drive from the strip
