Masterchef Australia – Dalvinder Gone On A Deconstructed Salad
Tonight in the pressure test Audra, Andrew and Dalvinder went head to head on a deconstructed Greek Salad.
It was a dish from one of George’s restaurants and I have to be honest I think I prefer the unreconstructed aka traditional one.
The contestants had three and a half hours to make the ten elements, which included capscicum terrine, cucumber ice cream, olive sponge and feta cream.
Andrew should have been eliminated for nearly burning down the kitchen. He was trying to get the oil up to 200 degrees to fry the tomatoes but it was billowing smoke and he still was not removing it off the heat. In the end George had to go tell him to take it outside.
Andrew’s sense of humour is quite good, and his free wheeling attitude is interesting to watch. He only made three quarters of a terrine because he wanted to keep to time and he knew he only needed one piece from it.
Dalvinder was struggling from the outset and fell behind in time, taking too long with the terrine, and her agar agar did not set. At one stage she just fell apart.
Conversely Audra was a meticulous well old machine in the test and presented a fabulous plate.
Whereas Dalvinder didn’t and she was eliminated, and so another one of the better cooks in the competition bites the dust. Andrew may be amusing but he has not dished a good plate in quite some time and every time he has been captain his team has lost.
