Big Brother: Mike Goldman is Back

It was announced on Facebook that Mike Goldman will have a role on the new Big Brother and it looks like he will be narrator/voice over guy.

Well that is what I can tell from this interview on the official Big Brother Facebook Page.

It says:

What have you been doing to get yourself ready for the show?
I’ve been narrating everything. I get up in the morning and I see my flatmate walk to the loungeroom and I go, “It’s ten past eight on Monday morning. Ben is late out of his bedroom. He has to be at work in half an hour. If he’s not there, he could face the sack.” My friends are getting annoyed with me so it will be nice to be able to do that in the protection of a padded voiceover booth.

What have you always liked narrating in the past?
The romances, the love affairs, the relationships, the fights, the drama… It’s all great. I like helping the producers of the show tell the story as to what’s going on.

Most memorable moments?
The ones where I have cried. I remember when Reggie said she didn’t want to go back to her life. She stood there and she cried … and you know, we fall in love with these people and understand their lives and their personalities and where they’ve been and what they’ve done. You really feel a part of the House in so many ways. You get to know these people and you feel like they’re a part of your family and you start to care for them – and when they’re crying their eyes out saying they don’t want to go back to their lives, then you don’t want them to either! You want their life to change. [There are more…] when Marty and Jess said “I love you” and kissed each other, and they ended up getting married! When Sarah-Marie – a big beautiful girl, doing a bum dance – showed how great it is to be yourself and not care what anyone thinks. Those are the amazing moments which I long for and which I’ve missed, not having Big Brother in my life.

Have you seen the Big Brother Shuffle yet?
Sonia Kruger can DANCE! We knew that anyway from Strictly Ballroom and Dancing With the Stars but man, she’s got some moves!

Are you looking forward to working with her?
Oh yeah I can’t wait! She’s such a delight to work with and such a legend in Australia. She’s completely different to any other host we’ve had and I think that will just add to the show.

What are you most looking forward to about BB’s return?
Free sandwiches on Sunday nights! I sneak into the Press Room and eat free sandwiches. Sometimes I even pocket some for lunch the next day…

What have you missed the most?
I’ve missed Big Brother’s announcements in my dressing room. He does special announcements over the speakers into my dressing room … “This is Big Brother. Goldman, we need you in the voiceover booth. Immediately.”

Were you excited to get the call up?
I’m a fan, I would have watched it anyway but I am glad to be coming back and be a part of the greatest show on earth!

This will please old fans as he was an integral part of the previous seasons of Big Brother.
Channel NINE are also wanting to take the show back to the early seasons of the show.
TV Tonight has an interview with Andrew Backwell NINE’s Director of Programming and Production.
He said:

“We want relationships, adults who relate to each other, rather than just people looking to hook up.

“You put all these people who don’t know each other in this environment and they’re trapped. And then you see how they relate to each other. That’s what people found fascinating, that’s what drove the series initially.

“We’ll cast it a little bit older than it’s been in other versions in Australia, but not very old. We’ll cast it with a mix, but not young, vacuous people. Interesting people who can have an interesting discussion about something.

He also talked to TV Tonight about the Up Late show that will be on GO saying there won’t be nudity but more the adult discussions and debate. Other topics he discussed was The Voice and The Block. It is a good interview outlining NINE’s strategy and shows.

This sounds fantastic! It wouldn’t have been the same without Mike Goldman, I’ve watched them all but the earlier ones with people like Reggie were the best. If they get the right mix of interesting people it will be a success, can’t wait!

I’m so excited about this!!!!! It wouldn’t be BB without Mike 😀

Eugh. Hated that guy. Was hoping that with the long break between seasons that would mean an opportunity to recast the hosts! At least Gretle Kileen is out of the picture though.

Love this guy – so glad to hear he back – wonder if they will have something similar to Fridday Night Games ……

5 Andy Pandy { 07.02.12 at 2:09 pm }

We can only hope Sioux Denim!

6 Darryl { 07.02.12 at 2:21 pm }

Cannot see them doing Friday Night Games due to Rugby League coverage in NSW and Qld

Well, maybe one of their spare channels then? I hate sport!

This sounds good. It got gruesome, in the later series, with all those vacuous chicks with inflatable breasts posing about for the cameras and waiting for their Zoo magazine shoots, and the dollars to pay off said implants. And all those dull young men. Bet it’s the same, though!

“Interesting people who can have an interesting discussion about something.”

These are deluded, self- absorbed fame whores. You can’t make champagne from ****.

Like those idiots in the spa a few years back who were arguing over whether one needed a rooster to produce a chicken.
