Masterchef Australia – Audra Was Very Lucky
Firstly I will be live blogging the final so people can talk about it here as it is airing. Apologies to people not living on the East Coast.
Last night Mindy revealed she was radiating. “I have a flame inside of me and it is burning,” Does that explain the orange tan?
Mindy’s inner fire was extinguished when her Barramundi with Shitake Broth was clearly the worst dish. She served the dish raw which unlike Audra’s sashimi it was not meant to be.
The contestants were paired up with a three hatted chef after looking at photos of winners which was Masterchef’s equivalent of the walk the Survivor contestants do to remember fallen tribe-mates prior to the finale
Well their restaurants have three hats. Andy was paired with Mark Best, and Andy thought this was because they were both electricians. Mark did not look too thrilled to be reminded of his previous life.
Mindy with Jacque Raymond, Audra with Peter Doyle, and Julia with Shannon Bennett.
The challenge was for the contestant to make their signature dish, but make it to a three hat standard. Their mentors were able to advise them for five minutes at the start and then they could use them for 15 minutes at anytime in the challenge.
But before they started the judges had to get some emotional mileage out of the contestants. Gary said to Julia “If you get into the finale you can open that cake shop”. Julia was gracious and did not point out she could still open her cake shop even if she did not make it into the final.
Ben said the competition made him want to travel…. not sure what that has to do with cooking, but obviously he is now open to new experiences. The girls in the Hunter Valley wept.
Audra talked about the expectations of being Asian about getting an education, get a good job, getting married, buying a house and having children. This probably resonated with a lot of women and men her age. She said “Women in my position can step outside and dream a little”. And Mindy just talked about having a fire in her belly, and having a clean slate at 30 years of age.
Julia thought Shannon Bennett was “Terrifying and awe inspiring” and she wasn’t just talking about his much needed hair cut. Hopefully Neil Perry will take note and cut his pony tail off.
Julia said her signature dish was Melting Moments but thankfully she refrained from cooking them or a cupcake. She went for Mille Fieulle with White Chocolate, Raspberry Sorbet and Ice Cream. She was under a lot of pressure in the 90 minute time frame even the chefs thought it was far too much, but as usual she did not break into a sweat.
Audra was making Sashimi with different dressings. It was queried that she was not doing any cooking, but she must have thought she was in the Dalai Lama challenge as she said she was treating the “ingredients with respect”.
Andy again was doing seafood making a Confit Ocean Trout, Pea Mousse and Yabbies.
Mindy stuck with her Asian style and made Barramundi with a Shitake Broth – Gary did his mind tricks and said you don’t usually make broths or cook with whole pieces of fish. I am sure she has made a Thai broth previously in the competition.
Unfortunately for her who has been pretty flawless throughout the competition, tonight was not her night. She said the oven was not up to temperature, and had to take the fish out of the oven and pan fry them. It was unclear whether she had not turned on the oven early enough or if the oven was not working properly.
She did the mea culpa to the judges “I have too much respect for you to lie about it”. It was raw.
Audra also left the judges underwhelmed, it was nice, but they were expecting more at this time of the competition. Also quite rightly Matt Preston bollocked her for bringing in kitchen bowls to serve up, something Julia was also criticised for.
Julia who had ran out of time had got Shannon Bennett to give her some advice and she basically scattered the ingredients over the tile. However they loved the flavours she was safe, as was Andy with his Ocean Trout that got a rave review. Andy’s dish was definitely restaurant quality.
Unfortunately there was not a lot of tension on who was going to be eliminated due to the disaster that was Mindy’s dish. However Audra was very lucky Mindy stuffed up as otherwise she would have been walking the plank.
Who do you think will win the final Audra, Julia or Andy?

I can’t believe Mindy is gone, I fear that the finale will be a letdown without the strongest cook in it.
Although Andy has improved, I can’t help but feel that his presence is somewhat influenced by all of the soccer mums (many of you on this blog included) constantly swooning and drooling over his doe eyed fumbling. Surely he will win, as he will fill auditoriums and leave many a child stranded at soccer practice as their mothers’ get their fix after finishing 50 shades of grey.
I hope that some form of justice exists and he is swiftly eliminated, allowing Audra to take the title and restore my faith in reality television. She is clearly strongest and deserves to win.
I foresee a bright future for our favourite sapphic culinarian – perhaps a small wine bar or range of sauces? (saucy sauces perhaps?). Then again, there’s always a role as the spokeswoman for spray tan.
Until tonight!
Bad luck for Mindy to stuff up at this stage but I think she and Audra are just about out of tricks now (they’re using untested techniques) so I’m still gonna back Julia.
I think Andy has enough supporters, and while I do agree he has improved I have a feeling most of his cookbook should he win would be seafood – me no like.
Also the preview showed that they had a dessert to cook. If Julia makes it to that stage she should have the advantage. Go my dessert Khaleesi! ^_^
RR, Loved the recap as always but I would have thought the equivalent of the Survivor Fallen Comrade tribute would have been looking through Flickr and being forced to say nice things, through gritted teeth, about people who were barely there whilst the camera is on them. Something like: “Oh Big Kev….he has a strong back.” (Audra’s comment). “Filippo, Filippo. You know I could out stare him.” (Julia’s comment). “I love Andrew. He was so funny and beautiful.” (Mindy’s comment). “Matty, Matty, Matty. Yes, I would like fries with that.” (Andy’s comment).
I’ve said it before, but urghhh the facebook page is horrible. Some general thoughts:
1. If Andy still had Andy’s personality and character, but looked like Fillipo or Mario, would anyone like him as much?
2. What the hell is wrong with those ovens? Contestants have been complaining for all 4 seasons that they don’t seem to get hot enough.
3. There is whinging that the final challenge is a dessert tonight. Except for the fact that the final challenge in every series has been a dessert.
4. I agree that Audra’s dish wasn’t up too scratch and she would’ve gone if not for Mindy’s blunder, but some people obviously don’t get the difference between good sashimi and a chunk of raw fish.
5. I think the Judges are allowing people to do finishing touches like sauce and ice creams at the judging table this year after last year it was revealed that food can sit around for an hour or so after completion to when the judges actually taste it.
Of all 24 contestants Audra is only one who would get me salivating if invited to her place for dinner (for the food, not the jump!). She is clearly the best all-round cook, but sadly, she has run out of steam at the wrong end of the competition.
Mindy is very good, but she has also had quite a few disasters along the way. Hopefully she explains why she fell short of time in her media interviews.
Julia has had a fantastic attitude right through the season despite (or perhaps helped by) George’s deprecating attitude towards her. If you’re going to go out, better to go with all guns blazing.
RR: A suggestion for coming seasons of Masterchef, Allstars, or whatever. Why not have a thread simply called “Title – Spoilers” (e.g. “Masterchef All Stars Spoilers”) for people to post to, as this is a neat solution to keep these things in one place and reduce the chance of accidentally seeing them.
On a less serious note perhaps there should also be a separate thread for Paul and the Troll to stop BDD getting sidetracked away from his witty comments!
Very underwhelming food last night. Audra knew from the start that Gary and George were unimpressed with her choice of dish but went ahead with it anyway.
Julia ignored Shannon’s advice that she wouldn’t have enough time. The dish did look simple but there were a lot of different techniques used.
At least Mindy put in a lot of effort but a piece of fish in a bowl of brown water did not look appealing.
Yes, Audra was very lucky. Andy deserved the win but I’m still on team Julia.
Heath, male or female, pretty faces sell. Pretty faces can get away with murder. Usually.
Obviously part of my love for Andy is his good looks, but I don’t find Ben attractive at all and I still loved him. But then, I also strangely hate Andy somehow, so it’s weird.
See, I know Andy’s going to win not because I’ve read spoilers because I stay away from spoilers, but because it’s obvious. And part of me wants to believe that he’s winning on his own merits, but part of me thinks that it’s mostly market-oriented grooming. This wasn’t the episode where the contestants should have Top Chefs (TM?) as mentors helping them out. At this stage of the competition, the contestants should be relying on their own merits and abilities that they’ve learned throughout the competition. Like, “okay, you’ve learned all this shit, now let’s see what you do when left to your own devices.”
At the very least, Andy HAS learned and shown that he’s learned while being in the kitchen, as opposed to staying in a comfort zone like the other ladies. But I want to see what ANDY can do on his own and I feel like regardless of what he does now, it’s written in the script somewhere that he’s going to win and there’s something about that that puts a damper on it for me.
At this point, I’ll be mildly happy that Andy wins, because out of all the contestants I’d rather him win. But I won’t really care.
Still, he seems like a genuinely good bloke and hopefully, if he and Ben get that TV show, it’ll be awesome instead of sucking. But by then I may be all Andy-ed out.
If it’s Julia for the win, though, I’ll be surprised, but pleasantly so. But since most of Australia seems to hate Julia, I think they’ll go for the Golden Boy.
Honestly, I think I like Andy best when he’s with Ben. Otherwise I’m just kind of like…meh. Just stand there and be hot please.
Raver, his name is spelt Jacques Reymond – http://www.jacquesreymond.com.au/ – not Raymond.
This should have been a much more exciting episode. But truth be told I really struggled to stay engaged with it and kept thinking that I surely had better things to do with my time.
It had the alaments to make for interesting TV – four of the nation’s best chefs plus being right at the pointy end of a very long viewing season – but just like Mindy’s uncooked barra or Audra’s lazily inept dish of sashimi and sauces, it just didn’t deliver any excitement.
Instead we get the usual long drawn out sequences of uninspiring cooking replete with banal observations, followed by cliché-driven and even slower-moving judging sequences.
The production always seems much better when they are out of MCA Kitchen Stadium and somewhere in the real world, as in this week’s challenge at Guillaume’s restaurant.
Disappointing cooking made worse by diabolical production standards.
Hopefully, MCA All Stars goes for a more dynamic and punchier style.
I get so annoyed when the judges say something like “would you bring 3 bowls to the table in a 3 hatted restaurant?” I would love it if Audra had said “Well, no, in a proper restaurant I could have a few extra minutes to get it right – and it would all be transparent to the customer!”
Apparently it was the chef’s fault that Mindy stuffed up!
From News.com:
“Woods said that rather follow her instincts, she tried too hard to follow the advice of Reymond and served up a disastrous dish.
“That was the horrible part. If the fish had been cooked it would have been fine … but you can’t eat raw fish,” Woods said.
“It was the worst execution, definitely. I listened to him and didn’t trust my own instinct and my own intuition on the night and that was my undoing.”
http://www.news.com.au/news/raw-fish-gets-masterchefs-mindy/story-fnehlez2-1226434274922
Yeah, that’s right. Blame the 3-hatted hired help.
Personally, I blame the eagle eggs:-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogBHmxk5vLI
(Sorry, couldn’t resist)
@Chris W – Not sure if I got Mindy blaming Jacques in that article for that mistake. However, barramundi is a fish that can get away with being cooked slightly longer and still be “beautiful.” (Unlike salmon which dries out). Not sure why Mindy left it to so late to put in the dodgy(?) oven.
Sweet merciful Jesus! Audra had 90 minutes to get it right. How it took that long to choose and cut nicely some top quality fish and mix up three little sauces and still not be ready, I can’t grasp.
And it wouldn’t be transparent to the customer – she stood there and did her best to lie, by omission, like a caught out six year old, rather than say why she hadn’t used serving bowls. Five easy words: ‘I ran out of time.’
I like Andy because he’s enjoyable to watch, his eyes are large and open and express his worry or his happiness clearly. He gets into it, and seems to really enjoy cooking for itself – an improtant prerequisite for a cook of any level. He has also improved greatly since the night in the pub cooking against/with Sam in Tasmania.
Julia makes nice melting moments, and burns a lot of pastry. She has the personality appeal of a refrigerated trout, and cold cranky little eyes. For a dessert queen, she may need to do more than cupcakes and melting moments and these last two failed millefuielles. Therefore she will probably win tonight.
Poor Andy, cursed with good looks that prevent him from being taken seriously as a cook – at least by people who have their money invested in other contestants. I mean, gosh, even Mindy thinks Andy may be where he is on merit and not because he rocks a five-o’clock shadow:
“Andy’s the dark horse,” Woods said. “He’s on fire with the food he is cooking and I think he has a really good chance for the competition.”
I haven’t seen the spoilers because I hate them but I would say that there’s a very good chance that Andy won’t win it if he hasn’t been practicing his desserts. And a Chris Manfield dish could trip any of them up but Audra would have the best chance of managing and balancing so many ingredients. I suspect that “unmitigated disaster” scene that was screened on Monday night actually came from tonight’s show.
Laughed at the little Game of Thrones reference Joseph. I’ve just started the first book and was in fact reading while watching Masterchef on last night.
Well to be fair to Mindy, Jacques would most probably have advised her of the cooking time of the fish and she would have been obliged to listen.
If that wasn’t part of the advice then I don’t know what he was there for.
But to be fair to him as well, he does not know those ovens as well as Mindy does.
But she stuffed up, she was responsible in the end and she had to go.
Pfft to Peston giving it to Julia for the bowls that had the frozen, geddit, frozen, components of her dish. If it were a restaurant her dish would be plated all at once.
Anyhoo, glad Minday has gone as IMO she appeared smug to the very end.
I hated the Game of Thrones reference but only because it reminded me of how disappointed I was with most of the second season D: D: D:
Chunks, the Game of Thrones reference applies to MCA in general.
I’ve read all the books and have seen both HBO seasons.
While the best fantasy offering since LOTR, the books – now up to the brick-sized ‘Dance with Dragons’ (book 5 – although one earlier edition was split in 2) – have forgone all concept of narrative pace and sort of stalled to a plodding that makes you think you’re not going to be allowed to know what finally happens until you reach your deathbed. (Sorry, if that’s a spoiler)
Still great books though. But I just get the feeling they are being milked.
MCA in comparison also started off great. Easily my favourite TV show in its first season. But it’s also lost its narrative pace and you get the feeling that there’s nothing more that can be squeezed out of it unless it radically revamps its format.
Back to Game of Thrones, in the books I appreciate Tyrion for his intellectual, existential approach to the challenges and escapades he encounters. In the HBO series, I more simply admire his erudite diction, rat cunning and numerous sex-capades.
Last night Mindy revealed …. “I have a flame inside of me and it is burning,” …
First herpes simplex. Now thrush?
Poor thing.
Angelo – for tonight’s final – my heart says Julia, my head says Audra, my eyes says Andy….
Joseph Skyrim – Agree – dessert challenge should help Julia a lot. Interesting the last two finales the desserts have been the deciding factor.
Heath – in reference to you number one. Probably not! But he does seem like a nice boy as well.
Chris W – Good idea on the separate threads…. Also thanks for link interesting that she blames him.
Planb – Audra should have done more – definitely compared to what the others had done.
Fred – I think Andy will trip up on the dessert. Though he does follow recipes well.
Dunbi – I thought they were playing games with Mindy. do you think the dish was that outside her comfort zone?
CB – thanks re: spelling. However I thought MC had its mojo back this year.
Jason – LOL
Chunks – Agree I think a dessert would trip him up. However I did say earlier this season I thought an under 30 male would win.
Paul – Agree Jacque probably used to his more industrial ovens then the ones in the MC kithchen.
PollyB – good point
@Chunks – Hehe glad to make someone laugh!

@Fred – Disappointed with GoT s2? Because you read the books or because Dany didn’t get to do too much?
@CB – That’s a pretty good comparison – at least MCA isn’t going like the Wheel of Time series though, because that one kinda lost me a few books in … then the author died and… was still going somehow…
@RR – sorry for thread slightly becoming the book-reading club! ^_^
Everyone seems a bit flat today! Wasn’t it George Harrison who had a hit ‘My Sweet Lord’? Well, that’s who I was thanking last night as we saw the back of Mindy! Audra and Julia were lucky too – I think that was the first time I recall Audra being put in her place so definitely by the judges, and she had no answer for them!!
Go Andy, it seems he’s found his mojo just at the right time.
I’m hoping for an Andy and Julia final – both will do well whether they win or lose. Can’t be bothered with Audra, I’m sick of her OMGs …..
@Heath
Oh, much of Andy’s popularity is based on his looks, and I doubt he would be well so received in a Malippo bodysuit. But there have been popular, personable-but-not-great-looking contestants in the past. Dessert Queen Billy comes to mind.
@Culinary Boner
No love for Raymond E. Feist? : (
Quotes!
“If I leave today, I’ll miss out on being in the top three. And that’s, you know, that’s like being this close to winning a gold medal at the Olympics.”
(Because we give out gold medals to whoever makes the top three at the Olympics, apparently).
“I know his background. Was an electrician, 25 years old, decided to get a job at his mate’s restaurant and start an apprenticeship. And basically, that’s exactly what I’ve done.”
And yet, Andy isn’t actually doing an apprenticeship…
Jacques: Did she make the puff pastry?”
Shannon: Yup.
Jacques: She made the puff pastry? D :
Shannon: Sorbet, a lot of work.
Jacques: [gasp]
I think Andy has peaked at the right time. Quite disappointed with Audra and Mindy’s performance last night. Really expected more from them ESPECIALLY since the challenge was a ‘signature dish’ challenge and I did not see them on the dish at all.
@Heath #4: If Andy still has his personality but looked like Filippo or Mario? I’d still love him! I actually really liked Filippo, thought he was awesome. I love Andy because he seems like a really cool and genuine bloke, and I’m always very fond of guys because I’ve never had an older brother and always wanted one. It just so happens that I have a crush on Andy. He’s awesome.
BTW when I first saw Shannon Bennett in the peach melba challenge I thought he was Mat from season 3 who was kicked out! Am I the only one who thought this?
Whoever said “dessert khaleesi” is awesome.
Moving on, don’t mind who wins. I’d love Andy to win, but as someone said, “cursed with good looks so people wouldn’t take him seriously.” Saying it again but he has peaked at the right time.
I also agree that the best dishes are during the team challenges. I’m still gushing over that melting cheese Andy made in the home cook challenge as well as a few dishes by Amina, etc.
Can’t wait for tonight. I hate pessimism when it comes to this show. Just watch with a happy thought.
Jess, I’ve only just got back into reading fantasy due mainly to George RR Martin, so will give Mr Feist a look.
JS, I’m currently struggling through the Wheel of Time series – up to book 7. It’s easy enough reading (if at times poorly written) but each book has the same bloody pattern. Exciting enough beginning, morphs into dull, slow middle bit that reads like the Bible according to Men Are From Mars, Women From Venus with all the male and female characters sulking and having hissy fits at each other*, and then concludes with an exciting bit usually involving fighting some higher minion of the Great Lord of the Dark – just like reaching a boss-level in a computer game. Still, at the end of the day my brain’s usually too fried to read a history book or something else more worthy.
Also, apologies to Raver for the book club commentary.
But hell, what’s there left to say about the poor standard of cooking?
* I can get that sort of action at home. This is meant to be fantasy, FFS!
‘Just watch with a happy thought.’
And that will change the outcome?
Well it would change the outcome of how I enjoy the show…
I thought Mindy was gracious in defeat … smiling, no histrionics or tears. Unlike Ben, who at one stage, was willing to self-eliminate for that fool, Emma (probably knowing it wasn’t allowed btw) … sookie la la, much? What’s up with these metro’s?
So there’s a dessert. Everyone thinks it will be to Julia’s advantage. Therefore, she loses …. history dictates that seeming advantages always come a cropper.
In any event, Andy’s already won; you can put your houses on it. He’s just a mediocre cook with moderate good looks (but the minute he opens his mouth … ewww); the producers want him, and he’s been primped, preened and groomed accordingly.
Plus, with Andy, it’s buy-one-get-one-free, because Ben will riding on his coattails. Joint MC winner by default.
Tonight, we’ll be hearing the judges justifying the demographic-friendly decision, ad nauseum …… how much Andy has Learned …Improved … (and ugh) Grown …
The mother is getting her French manicure right now (the choice of bogans who think it’s classy) and is deciding whether or not to wear a dead rodent. The new black?
Just thinking about tonight is making me bilious.
I’d prefer not to have to rely on Jedi Mind Tricks to hypnotise me into enjoying shows (or the abysmal performance this season of my NRL team) . Instead, I’ll leave the creation of ‘enjoyment’ in the hands of the producers and directors (or coaches and players). After all that’s what they get paid for.
I’m not fussed either if Andy or Julia wins, I like them just the same.
Audra & Mindy’s dish wasn’t exactly a well thought out signature dish. They must have given their “spark” to Andy who has been charging ahead with decent dishes.
I’m going to get MCA withdrawals after this is over, suppose I can slave away in the kitchen a little longer.
Am I the only person in this world who has not read that 50 shades of grey and doesn’t have an iphone?
RR – Yes I do think Mindy was outside her comfort zone. I think she should have gone with one of her crab, duck or pork belly dishes – they, to me, seem much more her type of signature dish. Hate to say this but I don’t think her chef was all that much of a help to her. I feel she would have been better left to her own devices.
Audra on the other hand was too much inside her comfort zone! Cannot believe she decided on raw fish after seeing all the great dishes she has presented.
Julia should not have been called out on her serving dishes. That dessert would have been delivered to the table fully completed whereas Audra’s sauces would have been delivered to the table.
I didn’t like it when Mindy was allowed to complete her chocolate tart at the table. Even in an ordinary restaurant I would not expect a waiter to bring my tart to the table and put the oranges on top with his/her fingers. Pouring the sauce over was acceptable.
comment 7 Fred. “but I don’t find Ben attractive at all and I still loved him” you love him because of his bromance with Andy.
Dunbi, that challenge was about creating a dish to be photographed for a front cover. It takes hours to film those episodes. If Mindy had put the orange pieces and sauce on when she completed the dish, it would hardly have been photogenic by the time it was judged.
Lulu, did you overdose on nasty pills today or do you just have a bit of a thing for Mindy that you’re finding it hard to get over?
Said it before and I am saying it again:
Audra deserved to win and I <3 <3 <3 Julia to win but I think Andy will win.
I really don’t mind who wins as they are all my favourite contestants.
Boring Julia, one dimesional Julia, sulky Julia, arrogant Julia, dessert queen Julia….i have not enjoyed watching her on my TV screen all season & was devastated to see she got thru by placing yet again a mess on a plate that was not the original idea or concept she had. Mindy, yeah I get it, raw fish is a no no but she would have made a more worthy finalist based on her abilities & attitude oh, & also she has a likeable personality! I’m sure Mindy will have a sucessful career, look at where Marion is now & where’s last years runner up?? doing car commercials!! I do wish all the finalists good luck, even Julia (i’m sure she’s lovely & it was all in the editing). Go Andy, just so he can also take out Cleo bachelor of the year 2013!!
No, JKo you are not the only person! I’m with Ari, ‘watch with a happy thought.’ In the big scheme of things does it really matter who wins a reality TV show? I’ve been entertained by this show and that’s all I ask of a TV programme.
The fake orange zit farm failed to cook a barra. Game over, moll.
OK Chunks, I concede your point. (Insert smiley face here, I don’t know how to do it!)
Dunbi-I am like you. I don’t like them serving me food from a big bowl. Ad Lib Bistro (sis to Berowra Water Inn) served their chocolate mousse from a big bowl. They come to you and then scoop out the mousse to serve you. I thought that was very strange.
Haha bdd, don’t beat around the bush!
#33 What?
@JKo – I also don’t have an I-phone nor have any desire to read 50 shades of grey… unless it turns out to be very violent with a high body count.
Dunbi – smiley face just as normal
Colon and then close bracket.

Bring on All $tars …I can’t weight.
There is justice in this world at last! Ta ta Mindy.
From the editing it looks like Mindy was the only person who’s not describing her plans to the mentor. I think it’s right to say that she’s outside her comfort zone, because it wasn’t her idea in the first place! And that just seems foolish to do, since the brief clearly dictates everyone to present their signature dish.
Julia did (and told it was very ambitious, but went on with it anyway), Andy did (and received very good idea upgrades) and Audra did (and didn’t receive any upgrade tips).
Last night Andy deserved to go in first, Julia, too (her food were all properly prepared, it’s the assembly that was not accomplished – though I just really want to shake Gary to tell him to stop being such a bully to her!). Audra’s… meh. Honestly, sashimi for showcasing cooking skills and signature dish? What are you on, Audra?
For the finals – I’m confused from all the comments – thought the finalists are top 3? Or will there be 2 episodes from top 3, then to top 2, then winner?
If there is a top 2, I am gunning for Andy and Julia – with Julia for the win! Go Julia!
Thank you Paul
Chris W, why don’t we create a separate thread for BDD’s pathetic contributions so it makes it easier to avoid them?
I know some people appreciate his ‘high volume, low quality’ work but it’s all delivered with one intention: a cheap laugh at the expense of others (#37 is proving this point).
JKo, I’m with you on both points
Reading #10 article from news.com
“That was the horrible part. If the fish had been cooked it would have been fine … but you can’t eat raw fish,” Woods said.
Errrr … Mindy, I have eaten plenty of raw fish, including barramundi sashimi.
I thought the right person went home, either her or Audra, I didn’t care so it was good!
Audra ignored advice from judges and said she would do what is true to her, thats what she is all about so serves her right, and bringing out those bowls just looked unprofessional, no wonder Matt looked so disgusted.
Can’t understand why any of them even needed a mentor in this late stage, they should all know what to do by now.
Julia got through thank goodness, she maybe just needs to watch her timing so that she doesn’ take on too much in the time alloted to her.
Mindy was definitely blaming her mentor about the fish not being cooked so if she thinks she knows better than him well good luck to her.
Looking forward to tonight Go Julia!
It would be interesting to read/hear the original interview that Mindy did with news.com.au as the AAP “journalist” clearly didn’t understand what was required of the contestants as he or she wrote that last night the contestants had to create the mentors signature dish – wrong. So, would be interesting to know what else they got wrong, such as attributed quotes….
In any event, I hope from an entertainment POV that Andy wins, although I fear it will be the one trick pony, Julia *sigh*
Chris W # 10: did any anyone notice Her Orange Highness’ reply to Matt when asked how Jacques helped her with her dish “Oh Jack (sic) just really helped me refine my ideeeeea, I already had a vision of what I wanted to do with it”? Minimising his input when presenting her dish to the judges and then blaming him when she lost. ..
Chasing Vegas, I really don’t get the anti Julia stance, I think she is really cool (ok Berlin type of cool rather Sydney type of cool, maybe this is why so many Australians don’t like her) and she definitively is the one among all of them with the most impressive technical skills (have you ever attempted to make a pate feuillettee from scratch?? i.e see Jacques’ reaction when Shannon told him with a rather gloomy expression that she was going to make her own pastry. Once again she nailed it and her pastry looked flacky, albeit maybe slighly overcooked.).
Lulu, # 28. If it makes you bilious, don’t watch. & stop complaining. What has Andy’s mother done to deserve such a caning from you? She has every reason to be proud of & excited for her son, & shame on you for being so mean
The announcement is being filmed RIGHT NOW:
http://kickass-angel.tumblr.com/post/27957546633/the-winner-announcement-is-being-filmed-now
Oh look – Its BDD back having a go at women again. He just can’t help himself.
Ladies, whatever you do don’t ever give him access to your facebook page. He will be all over your photos like a bad suit. Not that he would be on facebook anyway as that would require him to shed his precious anonymity.
What a brave little man (boy) he is.
Don’t they sometimes film two announcements? $hine like to think they are as cunning a shithouse rats.
@Fred, is Alice doing an Irish dance on that pic?
Two trolls today. You can both get ****ed.
What’s your problem, Jen Why? It’s blog democracy, and everyone’s entitled to bag or praise, as they see fit. The mother ‘signed up’ for it too – she chose to be on the ‘telly’ and hence, should expect some flak … and I wasn’t alone. ‘So mean?’ What are you, like 12?
Have just read in the local paper that the final two contestants have to prepare what they consider to be ‘Australia’s National Dish.’
The mind boggles!
Angst levels rise rapidly at Reality Ravings as the finale looms…
Well Dunbi, that will obviously be deconstructed snags on fresh white bread (for which they ground the spelt wheat themselves ) served with a tomato sauce foam and burnt onion soubise.
Audra will win. This is to secure the non Anglo-Saxon vote and viewers for Masterchef Australia 2013.
The publishers of this year’s Masterchef Winner’s Cookbook better think hard about including a whopping ‘sealed section’ because I’m struggling to imagine there are any more than 5 recipes of note for any of the final 3, if that.
Andy’s ‘sealed section’ can plough the furrows (in a purely imaginative sense) of the female and gay segments of the population by strategically showcasing the best of Aussie produce a la this cracking example by Anthony Bourdain (http://blogs.westword.com/cafesociety/tony%20with%20a%20bone.jpg). Except Andy’s version will better cut and will no doubt feature a full enchilada shot with bro-buddy Ben – hopefully both wearing dicky sombreros*.
Audra’s would be more of a saucy advice section on how cougars in their late 30s and 40s can execute such manoeuvres as the no-look, backhand grope and the flying missionary straddle in such a way that it all seems entirely innocent. Advice on keeping your hubby in the dark on these pervacious pursuits could also find a ready market with all those drooling female hornbag zombies now prowling our streets after reading 50 Shades of Gray.
Julia’s sealed section interests me the most, however, and would be a photographer’s wet dream come true. Starting with the obvious Blade Runner Replicant shoot – http://www.strangehorizons.com/2011/20110627/pris.jpg – the very strictly attractive Julia can then move on to the Kill Bill jumpsuit, cat woman, wonder woman…you name it… to finish up as Marie Antoinette in order to showcase her sugar box. While Andy’s would be a best seller, Julia’s would become a cultural icon of considerable historical and artistic significance. An ornament to our great nation.
However, as the people involved have no imagination I guess we’ll just be stuck with a boring old cookbook full of mediocre recipes, no fun and zero culture. I ask you. Is this anyway to run a ballroom?
* ‘dicky’ as in ‘cheesy’ sombreros, not one’s placed on their dicks. FFS, that’d just look stupid people.
Lulu will probably be attacking Audra’s kids next according to her logic…..
BDD and her are probably disappointed that Junior MC has finished – they would have been perfect targets for the cowards. Although even then BDD would probably keep it safe and only attack the girls.
Who is this BDD that posts all over realityravings and keeps dissing women?
Me thinks BDD is a women hater/’NICE’ guy?
Brian dead – true.
Hey Paul, seeing you’re still lurking around, why don’t you frame a fun market for the final 3? 100% market this time, no juice please.
Oh just saw #64. Take back being pleasant to you, Paul.
Having 3 young children myself, attacking others would be anathema to me … adults, tho’ are fair game.
Audra should receive her Masterchef 2012 Hat from none other than Juliar Guzzard the Carbon Chef par exellence.
Is lulu & BDD – one and the same???
lulu – I’m impressed.
Okay market to 100%
Audra: $2.50
Andy : $3.00
Julia: $3.70
Okay… and who are you… Milli ‘Tilly’ Vanilli? A pretend vanilla pod?!
I can’t find that I can try and write anything with all these attacks going on; I don’t remember it being this vicious and it’s not pleasant to read, try and skip over – its like army fire back and forth. What happened to this nice forum – all the crap generally happens on other forums and this is one of the best. Give it a rest guys – it’s getting exciting now, down to the finals – there is no need to attack the finalists nor the posters.
Chill pills and positive thought waves – it’s been a fun and exciting series and has given us a voice to vent comments on standards of cooking and various recipes – I’ve really enjoyed that as I don’t cook well and anyhow Cheers to the Finalists – rigged or not I still love Masterchef.
A few thoughts…
I don’t think there is a problem with the ovens when they are turned on and preheated… never seems to be a problem with masterclass (it’s the Hell’s Kitchen experience – a cold oven cooks nothing)
I’ll declare up front that’d I’d be very happy with Andy or Julia winning before this comment:
I think the difference between Andy and the others has been that he has learnt to plate up like it is artwork. All 4 last night have shown that they are very capable with cooking throughout the series (they’ve all had stuff ups, just Mindy’s timing last night was rotten). And I think when people go looking for 3 hat dishes (read: the 3 stooges), they are looking for both taste and plating/presentation. Andy did it, Julia was kind of forced in that direction with running out of time and having to “deconstruct” it, and Audra didn’t really have anything much going on on her plate – 3 pieces of fish and some sauce. Mindy’s visually looked good, just a pity about the cooking.
I don’t understand the dislike of Julia on this blog, but then I’m sure there are others who don’t understand it with Mindy and Audra.
Sadly working tonight, so probably won’t get to watch the final live, so I’ll miss out on the wit and wisdom of your company folks… Enjoy! Until next year…
Seriously though. When did Masterchef viewers become so nasty? This is meant to be wholesome entertainment. I, for one love the show because the contestants are like an extension to my family. It’s amazing to feel as if I actually know these people when I haven’t met them at all.
I agree. Someone present a cloche to reveal a chill pill please.
PS… I’m going to eat a deconstructed apple now (by cutting it into 1/4s first)
Daze I agree 100% – and all BDD has to do is not personally attack the female contestants.
Couldn’t care less what is posted otherwise.
I just skip over the attacks but BDD and Paul should meet to jerk each other off in real life.
Andy just looks collected and relaxed so I think it’ll be him winning tonight, even though I don’t think he’s anywhere as good as the previous MCs.
Lol, Chunks
Well said, Daze
They allowed Gary to post the photo to let us know they are filming the finale right now!!!! or to say the rumour on SMH is not true.
Steppi, you are right about Andy, he always looks relaxed (except when he banged his head on the brick wall re Ben – that was funny). Loved most of the contestants and the ones that would have annoyed me, left early thank goodness. I didnt even mind Emma, she tried so hard – will be great to see Amina again too xx
Dr T, you can still comment on Masterchef All Stars if you like! How do you find time to see patients in between blogging? FRED, thanks for that photo of the filming, can’t wait for the result.
Any criticism of Ma$terchef whatsoever is met with bullying from Paul.
He’s very desperate for attention because his posts are like watching paint dry , so he’ll take oxygen from mine when he can get it.
The rest is smear. Check the archives and thank him for ruining this website.
Love Andy. If he wins tonight, I’ll be a happy man. Bendy cookbook I’ll be happy! He may not be the best of the 4 winners, but certainly prefer him over Kate last year. I like Kate but always knew from the beginning of season 3 that she was the most bland contestant! I did not even pay attention to last year’s finale. Did not enjoy season 3 so much. Best winner is Adam Liaw hands down. Julie Goodwin’s great but too home-cook for my taste. I’d be perfectly happy to see any of the three win. But with Andy he has tons of potential and more room for improvement. Although I see him more as a chef than a home-cook winner like Julie and Kate were.
Julia would make a fantastic winner. But I have concerns over the backlash she may get. Poor girl. I really am warmed up to Julia but she is heavily misunderstood. Audra is the perfect winner but her controversy is over-exaggerated. Either way I will enjoy what happens tonight.
there you go again BDD – stop biting$$
I think people should just ignore the comments they don’t like.
Did anyone hear Andy interview on radio this morning? He mentioned who the Final 2 are. I won’t say but you can guess. He also said they have already filmed the cook off. Live today is only for the announcement.
Gary- You can’t fool us with that shot.
If Julia wins I’d feel so bad. Have any of you seen the nasty facebook comments?
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150948738975636&set=a.109606340635.107043.80261010635&type=1
Ari, Ari (I love saying that), you and Daze are like the good little angels on one shoulder. All sweetness and light (again, no sarcasm). Seriously, don’t worry about it. I think it was Dr T who once said that he enjoyed blogging here because he didn’t have to be PC and could say whatever he wanted, with anonimity.
Everyone has their own idea of catharsis – this is nothing personal, soon forgotten, a bit childish, but fun too.
So Paul, 10 dimes on Andy then … you laying? jk
Oh I’ve been waiting for that – “BDD you really are brain dead etc”…I knew there would be one and thanks to Tilly I wasn’t disappointed.
Keep your chin up bdd the trolls are all coming out from under the bridge today.
@littlepetal what radio station was it? Do you happen to know if they have a recording of that interview?
@Lulu don’t worry I get called a little angel a lot. Don’t mean to brag but as a well behaved boy in primary school and high school teacher’s always loved me. o:-)
Littlepetal, did Andy really say the final two? I can’t believe he would do that and ruin it for everyone. Surely he would have known not to say that, I can’t understand it.
Yeah verily Fred@86.
Well said.
The sniping is getting almost as boring as the dibber-dobber pointing to other posters’ comments some on this site seem incapable of the avoiding for more than a few seconds. Pulpitry of the Penis, anyone?
On the contrary Ari, Andy has become the best – through sheer determination, paying attention, absorbing everything he can from the three stooges and the guest chefs, learning from his mistakes and taking risks… At the early Top 24 stages I would have guessed he might make it to somewhere in the middle, but like Callum before him he’s powered through. Unlike Callum though, he’s never slap-dash or panicked but calm and methodical and creative.
I’d love to see him win but it won’t matter if he doesn’t. His future in the food industry is all but assured. I wouldn’t bank on a Bendy future though. Real life has a way of intruding on day dreams.
Ari – those FB comments are sad.
Hope she has thick skin!
Anyway I decided to look at the Sydney TV guide and holy moly, we’ve got 3 hours of Masterchef tonight. O.O
Also (if the guide is correct) then tomorrow will be the start of MC All Stars, and if you want to watch the olympic opening ceremony on nine you’re gonna need to be up early on Saturday as it starts at 5:30 am. Hahaha that’s unlikely for me.
God, that Facebook shit is so depressing. Is that you on there Joseph?
Ari and A.P – No. I don’t know what station it was but I am going to see I could get a recording of it.
Thanks for the Facebook link.
Makes the shit on here look like the Gettysburg Address.
@Chunks – Yup yup! Should be obvious who I am. Thought I’d try throw in some positivity there for the heck of it. Don’t think it will be very helpful though as it’s like 98% harsh negativity.
I almost want her to win purely to spite all those nay-sayers now, but I’m sure the others are being given the same treatment. >.<
@littlepetal
Did Andy’s revelation match our speculative finale guesses in the spoiler thread?
So if Andy did mention who the final two are then clearly he isn’t one of them? How depressing. I was hoping he would make it all the way.
@ lulu, you have me saying Ari Ari now, lol
In spite of what may have been written here, Ari, I’ve been supporting and defending Julia and Deb here for most of this series, along with a few others, so it’s not all bad.
Three hours is a bit long for a game show, I reckon, Joseph~ also bearing in mind that Ma$terchef has run way overtime the last two nights, delaying the relative quality of The $hire and Lara Bingle.
I did say Mingy couldn’t win~ but what would I know?
lulu – you can’t expect me to lay at 100%.
And I’m a cash up front bookie.
@BDD – “delaying the relative quality of The $hire and Lara Bingle”
Haha, damnit that cracked me up.
Yah 3 hours – I think I’ll be leaving it on in the background while I do other stuffs. Wait hang on, I must have read it wrong. 2 hours is cooking and 1 hour is… announcing? That can’t be right. :/
Ok I rechecked and it’s only 2.5 hours.
Don’t shoot me if I got it wrong. I only report what I read. I didn’t hear the interview and yes it matches our speculative guesses !!!!
re Bingle – I have plenty to say about last night’s empisode if RR puts up a recap on it.
I feel with respect to the quality of TV Shows Channel ten has been buying lately, they need to by-pass the No Frills toilet paper and perhaps go with Sorbent every now and then. Even if it is a relatiy show.
I hope Julia doesn’t read that facebook page, it is really nasty. If she reads this blog she will see how we did all warm to her as the series went on and plenty of us support her now. She can’t help her quieter personality, not everyone can whoop and holler. My favourite three in the final would have been Alice, Amina and Julia, all nice people!
It’s like the Bingle producers spend a real lot of effort getting close ups of Lara’s cellulite….oh but I better not make a comment about that while Adolf is goose stepping around.
Chances of my kow towing for All Stars are pretty slim, too~ unlike several of the D listers going around.
well 70% of the total 10 mins of the show last night was about her brother and friend buying a feather duster (sorry, “tickler”) for Lara’s birthday.
Prime time indeed.
Dear Matt Preston and Mindy, out of respect for a 3-hatted chef, it would’ve been nice if you learnt to pronounce Jacque Reymond properly. FFS it is not ‘Jack’ or ‘Ramone’. And dear dear Mindy, try not to bark at a respected chef to come help you without so much as a ‘please’. I know you’re an orange but manners still count.
After reading all the uneducated bogans on that FB thread, I want Julia to win more than ever. Just because she doesn’t jump-rape people, flick her ponytail, gush like a horny teen, flirt with George, ramble on and on when she talks, it doesn’t make her any less of a person or any less deserving of the title. In fact I find her quite intelligent, articulate, eloquent, witty, snarky and just as engaging to watch. What you see is what you get and she can only be respected for that. To hell with the rest of them.
littlepetal, can you post it in the “spoiler” thread? i think i know buttt, haha, curious mind.
Baz #111~This is because Mingy knows Jacque $hit about humility.
Yup, 7.00-9.30pm. Ripper.
I do want to see some good cooking, some kitchen drama and experience this elusive thing called ‘entertainment’. And I’d really like to know who wins and how. But with what Shine and Ten think is clever ‘teasing’ for our mental stimulation and entertainment actually being more akin to tedium or torture, that g-spot in me head called the cerebral cortex will probably prematurely eject me from the sofa to the marital love-nest (inaptly named) before the actual money shot. Please. Please. Someone come through with a spoiler at say…yeah …about…8.15pm. Please. *on his knees begging*
AP – I’m doing research at the moment…
Boner #114.”I do want to see some good cooking, some kitchen drama and experience this elusive thing called ‘entertainment”
Maybe you and wifey should get it on on the kitchen table tonight, then.
Baz,
I’m pretty sure Matt P knows how to pronounce Mr Reymond’s name correctly given that he has most probably met him hundreds of time.
Can you clarify that you have confirmed the correct pronunciation of his name with him?
Simple yes or no should suffice.
@Paul
Matt Preston continuously pronounces Heston Blumenthal’s name incorrectly, so I don’t think that’s really the best justification of things.
@Jess
Maybe its just an affectation for people he knows well. Maybe he is the one pronouncing it correctly.
All that matters really is that the people concerned don’t seem too bothered by it.
Its just something else for one of the haters to grasp onto – ohhh, you pronounced the ‘a’ fractionally wrong ——ohhh, how evil…….
Hang Him
Hang her
In a lot of ways this season has shown us that the Stephen Bradbury style win is still possible. Two of them wouldn’t still be there if others hadn’t fallen over before the line.
Jowl$y also produced a clanger with “separating the goose from the chickens” earlier this season . If the pompous prat knew his Shakespeare properly, it’s “separating the sheep from the goats”
Like I said, Jess and Baz, the slightest criticism of Ma$terchef and the bully comes out swinging.
Lo and behold.
Yeah, we should put him before the firing squad for that BDD – what do you reckon?
Disgraceful behavior – I don’t know how he sleeps at night.
What are we allowed to say?
Audra’s lucky to be in the finale, she decided to play safe and if not for raw fish it would have backfired on her. Rooting for Julia or Andy to win
Yay – you got that one right BDD.
I guess even a broken clock is right twice a day.
It is ‘slight’ criticism.
In fact, it so slight its petty, irrelevant and borderline ridiculous.
Anything else Baz and BDD.
Did George wear blue colored socks on a Wednesday when he should have worn red ones?
Was Matt’s cravat tied 1 cm’s incorrectly further to the left than what is required for Mondays?
I mean, where would we be without these thrilling observations.
Depressed all day because of bloody spoilers and the enormous hints re what Andy’s radio reveal of the final two indicates (not here, elsewhere, I should know better than to visit schoolboy sites). Oh the angst.
I’ve been depressed prior to this because I suddenly realised that MC All Stars, which I’ve been looking forward to madly, is only going to re-open the floodgates to people making horrid comments about my favourite contestants.
I don’t do Facebook, so can only imagine the horror unleashed there by thoughtless people with literacy problems. Poor Julia, but she’s not my first pick for the final three. Still no-one deserves to be stuck up for the mob to attack, except maybe Fred West, and he did a lot more than burn a few pastries.
Exactly A.P. I am too scared to say anything anymore. Trolls spoilt all the fun.
Definitely Fred West but also, Mrs West, the Murdochs and their listening devices. Just to name a few.
I won’t be bullied by you,Adolf, so blow it out your quoit.
How dare anyone criticise your precious show.
bwahahaha Baz, Jack Ramone – the classy 5th Ramone…. left the band in 1974 when they kept on stuffing up the timing of their song intros because they got confused going “1, 2, 3, 4, 5…” and had to stick to “1, 2, 3, 4…”
“I Wanna Sniff Some Jus”
“Cretin Chop”
“Beat On The Sprat”
PlanB, finaly someone sees it as it really is. Julia is only good at pastry if it s cupcakes and melting moments. come on, that s basic stuff. she doesn t deserve to win. if she wins she will be putting a book out teaching how to bake ??? that would be a joke because i think she should be taking a few courses herself. let her open a pastry shop called the Pastry Queen from Masterchef and enjoy her 15 mn of fame. She said it anyway, she will open no matter what.
bdd@116… excellent idea with one fatal flaw… the answer will be just like Carol’s computer on Little Britain… Mrs Boner says no – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3mswfndknU
Chann 10 news Bris coming up, they are speaking to the final three.
Not sure anyone notice that Paul only comes out to play during daytime (a.k.a working hours). He should disappear pretty soon.
He’d be due for a nappy change soon….and a new dummy.
He seems to comment when he knows Georgie is not around as well!
A.P – Not so sure about that one. I think Paul only comments when he is at work (What’s the reason? Perhaps he doesn’t want RR to know his home IP address? May be his home IP address is the same as some other trolls that comment here after work hours) and Georgie doesn’t comment when she is at work.
6.01pm. Paul, are you still at work?
Doing my duty for the day:
I am totally in awe of MCA. It has to be the best produced, most believable and genuine cooking competition I’ve ever watched.
The judges are the most natural, helpful and spontaneous hosts you could ever hope for and because they are so natural and spontaneous, nothing they do on the show could ever be seen as contrived or manipulated for entertainment or drama sake. They are totally supportive of all the contestants equally and would never display favouritism in any form.
All the contestants are wonderful, clever, well adjusted and jolly people, who are such talented cooks, any one of them could be a master chef in real life. Like the judges, I would never favour one contestant over another because they all deserve my blind adoration and I want them all to win. Nothing they do ever annoys me because I am from Stepford.
This is my opinion of MCA throughout the entire competition and I’ll copy and paste it into the blog every day.
I refuse to acknowledge He Who Must Not Be Named until he’s done menopausing.
Wah wah wah bah humbug wah wah
His last post was 4:50pm. Bet he works from 9am – 5pm. We should have a Paul free evening. Unless the troll is impersonating him.
If someone can’t cook apiece of barramundi, who are we to judge, Georgie?
I must be a total ‘ken legohead to call that legohead a legohead.
Furthermore, I am totally in awe of MCA. It has to be the best produced, most believable and genuine cooking competition I’ve ever watched.

Good boy bdd. As a treat, you can go down to the park now and get some of Poh’s macarons.
My neighbour’s greyhound has been leaving macarons on my front footpath, Georgie. Home delivered!
By the way, I am totally in awe of MCA. It has to be the best produced, most believable and genuine cooking competition I’ve ever watched.

Hi JLo,
You really do amuse me sometimes.
I am conflicted and in need of counselling. Paul of God please help me – the AGT grand finale is on tonight at the same time as the MCA grand finale and I’m completely torn as to which one to watch.
What’s that Paul of God? Oh you don’t care about AGT, you’re only interested in MCA. Why is that Paul of God? Hmmm
A little tip Paul of God – loosen your jockstrap and your whole world will loosen up.
I hope Julia wins. Have a good night everyone.
thanks RR for all the updates x
Do we get a “Before the game” RR? I’m sure you’d get a few nominations for tool of the week….
Perhaps for future reference we should have Paul’s Holy Commandments or Paul’s Guide To Commentary Etiquette and Acceptable Trolling.
1) Thou shall not have any type of negative opinion about Masterchef.
2) Thou shall not criticise Masterchef judges and contestants for improper pronunciation of chef names (because apparently there could be more than one way to say ‘Jacque’. I will have to confirm with Mr Reymond himself before I dare criticise Matt Preston again).
3) Thou shall not criticise contestants because they are all showing their true personalities on screen and in their spare time they go tra-la-la-ling through an open meadow together holding hands. Because they really love and support each other. Even Deb.
4) Thou shall not especially criticise the orange people. Because fake tans have real feelings too.
5) Thou shall repent for such sins with 30 minutes of self-flagellation while watching footage of George lick his knife.
Care to add anything more? Fire away BDD

Georgie and BDD – we have our opening sermon. Amen.
Geez, I think you should lay off the blasphemy there, Baz because I am totally in awe of MCA. It has to be the best produced, most believable and genuine cooking competition I’ve ever watched.

Hi Georgie,
Given that apparantly you have no interest in cooking, then it’s probably best you watch AGT.
I don’t know why the 4 of you just don’t start up a facebook hate page & be done with it.
Actually I do know why. Harder to hide there, isn’t it?
Fuck knows why you would say that, Adolf, because at the end of the day,I am totally in awe of MCA.
Actually Paul of God I thought you should seriously consider taking your vigilante crusade to that FB site and see if you can do some genuine good.
Hang about, I know why you don’t do that – that really is serious hate stuff and you’d get burned alive wouldn’t you?
So easy to bait Paul. Hehehe. Better shut up before RR ……
Because we would miss you too much Pauly. Who else would deliver us from evil?
Hehe JLo – all we need to say is ‘Matt is wearing an ugly shirt’ and he’ll come scurrying out of the gutter right on cue.
JLo-You got him.
Live blogging is starting now…. Paul, move over there. RR will be monitoring you.
Well the final is here and so after tonight my sojorn into social media will be over. Everything I have read confirms totally my view that all social media is populated by morons and bogans with a collective IQ of less than ten. The ‘moron telegraph’ – i have contributed because some of the losers who use facebook and that incredibly moronic twitter tell me that I shouldn’t criticise until I try it…. So I have and thankfully all my views have been confirmed in writing. As hard as I tried to stir coments related to the show, the predominant posts were by those who were spatting with each other….. Dumb verses dumber with even dumbers chiming in. Reality shows are good. They are aimed at the lowest common denominator and they keep a large number of morons off the streets for twelve weeks or so at a time.,they also create hope that any talentless nobody can be famous for a few minutes by being on one of these bastions of crap….. And that is good because who wants to get a real job and work for a living…….
Dear High Pants,
It is not over yet. 3 more weeks of MC all-Stars
Yours sincerely,
Low Jeans (aka J-Lo)
Haven’t followed thread today. What did I miss? Working so will miss live finale but will read updates. Thanks RR!
Audra is the most versatile out of the three and one of the strongest this year. But is suffering untimely brain fades. Deserves to win but the strongest competitors rarely win the grand prize. Eliminated contestants have confirmed that she was patient in teaching others about Asian cooking techniques.
Julia is the most steely determined. Generally cooks winning dishes when in bottom 2/3 (as opposed to getting through as someone stuffed up more). If she gets through first two rounds relatively well, she is the one to beat in the dessert round. Eliminates contestants also confirmed that she helped out others to improve their baking and dessert skills.
Andy has all the momentum and all top ten eliminated contestants point to his calmness under stress. Improved a lot and is very competitive. Should he win? Shine wants him too. At least he has a year to write a cookbook that features more than mussels and beef cheeks. Clearly has learnt a lot watching Audra, Dalvinder, Mindy, Julia, and Kylie cook and teach in the house. If Andy reaches the final round, memory is he got in the Top 24 on Peach Melba Pressure Test.
Is this the live blog?

Hasn’t started here, yet. Have fun.
That aint me, Georgie.
I’m more a Larry Low Pants, truth be told.
I’m also busy trying to convince Mrs Boner to adjourn to the kitchen table as per BDD’s excellent suggestion earlier this afternoon.
Oh I shall be so pleased to hear the last of Audra’s “Oh my God”, she has used it continually and it drives me mad together with the women screaming. Go Andy, at least you don’t follow that lot.
