The X Factor – Age Limit Issues, A Great Audition And Other Gossip
Today former Australian Idol judge Dicko is questioning whether 14 years old is too young to be on a talent show like The X Factor.
He told news.com.au that Shiane should have waited a year or so.
On Sydney’s 2UE radio, Dicko said Shiane was awkward, vulnerable and “not ready”.
“She’s wearing (braces) … she can’t enunciate the songs properly,” he said.
“Why on Earth didn’t her mother wait a year until the braces came off?
“The fact is, it could be eight years until she finds her real self and her real voice.
“I don’t know why you would want to queer the pitch now.”
I tend to agree, however thought Vendulka another 14 year old would have been ready for the live shows.
However in the US version of the show the age limit is even younger with 13 year old Carly Rose Sonenclar doing a fantastic audition. Great voice and Disney must be want to sign her up ASAP, but should these young kids wait a few years when they can sing broader material and maybe have a better chance of winning?
Though considering one of the judges/mentors, Demi Lovato, on the show is barely out of her teens maybe they think it is OK. Interesting this year they have two child stars on the panel, Brittany Spears and Demi and both have had to be hospitalised for mental stress and possible substance abuse.
In other X Factor news there are rumours that Pink will be performing on the show. Chances are it will be recorded tonight then screened on the elimination show. They have asked the audience to get their 5.00pm. Hopefully this rumour has more credence than Lady Gaga performing at The Voice Australia finale.
The other big news tonight will be seeing who is going to replace Josh who was kicked off the show last week. My money is on Matt Gresham, though Carmello would have been a very popular replacement.
The X Factor Australia is on SEVEN on Tuesday and Wednesday night at 7.30pm.
