The X Factor – Age Limit Issues, A Great Audition And Other Gossip

Today former Australian Idol judge Dicko is questioning whether 14 years old is too young to be on a talent show like The X Factor.

He told that Shiane should have waited a year or so.

He said:

On Sydney’s 2UE radio, Dicko said Shiane was awkward, vulnerable and “not ready”.

“She’s wearing (braces) … she can’t enunciate the songs properly,” he said.

“Why on Earth didn’t her mother wait a year until the braces came off?

“The fact is, it could be eight years until she finds her real self and her real voice.

“I don’t know why you would want to queer the pitch now.”

I tend to agree, however thought Vendulka another 14 year old would have been ready for the live shows.

However in the US version of the show the age limit is even younger with 13 year old Carly Rose Sonenclar doing a fantastic audition. Great voice and Disney must be want to sign her up ASAP, but should these young kids wait a few years when they can sing broader material and maybe have a better chance of winning?

Though considering one of the judges/mentors, Demi Lovato, on the show is barely out of her teens maybe they think it is OK. Interesting this year they have two child stars on the panel, Brittany Spears and Demi and both have had to be hospitalised for mental stress and possible substance abuse.

In other X Factor news there are rumours that Pink will be performing on the show. Chances are it will be recorded tonight then screened on the elimination show. They have asked the audience to get their 5.00pm. Hopefully this rumour has more credence than Lady Gaga performing at The Voice Australia finale.

The other big news tonight will be seeing who is going to replace Josh who was kicked off the show last week. My money is on Matt Gresham, though Carmello would have been a very popular replacement.

The X Factor Australia is on SEVEN on Tuesday and Wednesday night at 7.30pm.

Agree with Dicko, fourteen is just too young to be on exploitative “talent’ shows like this.

Shirley Temple, Michael Jackson , Stevie Wonder, for example , their talent was undeniable and obvious. They were exceptional child stars that couldn’t be denied but Shiane isn’t ….doesn’t sound original and her parents need a good kick in the ar$e.

She’ll end up like Jack Vidgen. Nowhere.

What about Little Jimmy Osmond?

If that’s a link to “Long Haired Lover From Liverpool”, Boner, -I’m not going there. I’ll be sick.

They don’t make em like that any more!
At least The Osmonds are still around, unlike Jack Who!
I think Carmello will return to X Factor

‘fraid it is, bdd.
In all fairness, I had to lead with the young lad’s finest.
What the clip revealed that I didn’t know, was that he was voted by Japan at the time as the finest voice in the business.
Does Dicko know what he might be denying the world?!
Exhibit A:
I really don’t know how Dicko sleeps at night?
Give ‘im another slap, Paulini.

Nat really has no idea how to choose the right songs for her team! She did ok with Angel but the other two were terrible! And I luv Bella! There are so many great songs, which would meet the format for tonight and also match Bella’s voice. I think that the show depends too much on the mentors and they should not have the only say regarding song choice. Nat has such a strong team but ATM she has to rely on the fact that Bella has ready plenty of fans who will vote for her despite the stupid choices that Nat makes for her. Let’s hope she will come to her senses soon so that we can see Bella’s full potential!

Finally had a chance to watch this last night and agree that the song choices are really twee. I mean, come on, Footloose! Is it cheaper for them to choose the really old songs and are the judges given some sort of quota like only 2 songs this week from the 90’s onwards and the rest have to come from the 80’s and before?

Band names are also dodgy – The Collective??? So, The Borg was not available?
