Big Brother – The Final Night

It was a bit like the episode on Survivor when the three remaining finalist go along and reminisce about their former tribe mates, tonight Ben, Layla and Estelle moved around the house talking about their memories from those spots.

You could almost hear Big Brother telling them to move to the different spots.

Ben and Layla were still confused how Estelle was in the final three and while she was making them dinner they talked about how annoying she was.

Ben also told Big Brother that she was interesting but from his tone you gather he won’t be keeping in contact once he has left the house.  He also told Estelle that he found her inconsistency of personality difficult to deal with, but he said that he had listened too much to what other people thought and this had coloured his view of her. He did not name names, but Michael must have been one and Brenda, Ben’s his alter ego must have been the other.

There must be something must be something that is grating about her personality as Zoe also mentioned in her exit video that she was unable to judge social cues. Though the editors do seem to be pushing her for the win as they let Zoe speak about her good qualities for quite sometime.

Michael did not get too emotional in his video about Estelle and is still rooting for Benjamin to win, as his Josh, and Stacey. Interesting whilst the show was on tonight a tweet went up from Josh urging fans to vote for Ben.

The rest of the episode was about them reminiscing about the house and also seeing some of their moments like the safari challenge.

However instead of their favourite moments I would be interested in knowing what you liked and did not like about the rejigged Big Brother?

Big Brother finale Wednesday night at 7.00pm.

#89 please try and remember that I have been watching and following the show I do not need your promps tweet links etc etc to know whats going on. I have also heard a lot of the housemates say they were wrong in what they did to Estelle. Even Angie is saying she hopes Estelle wins. Michael said it all They had to pick a person to hate and she was it but they were wrong and he realises it now himself. ok! There is nothing u can say or do at this point to change my mind. U r blinded by your own competitiveness and cannot look beyond winning your point. Whereas I have several times looked into yours and others prompts to change my mind and guess what Estelle is not perfect but she survived all scrutiny and delving that I pursued. As a matter of fact it strengthened my resolve to stay and support her. SO thanks for that. 😉

omg@BDD #84, still laughing at the “she’s had 2 humps” comment! This BB was G rated, not a hump in sight! I did laugh at the comment that Layla made about changing beds, something along the lines of “I changed beds every time I got a new boyfriend” – that was just about the only sensible thing she’s said in the whole series!

Personally, I think the behaviour of most of the HMs towards Estelle has been pretty vile. I wouldn’t go so far as to say it is ‘bullying’ – BB would have most certainly intervened if that was the case. Aside from that, the way Estelle has conducted herself while others would talk about her, bitch about her and exclude her has made her all the more endearing – at 24 years of age she is a strong woman and a very worthy finalist, and hopefully winner.

On a side note, I’m also appalled at Michael’s latest comments about his hook up with Estelle being a mistake. So glad he didn’t win, he should stand up for the choices he made and man up! For someone supposedly so intelligent he is not really thinking about his actions.

just one.

4 Straight from the horse’s mouth { 11.07.12 at 10:34 am }

@99 – you obviously didn’t bother to even skim them – it was not all girls – Bradley was confused, Sam was uncomfortable & Ben called it. Bet I could find even more from Josh & Michael – I admit I was just skimming BBAU LIVE.

5 Reality Raver { 11.07.12 at 10:47 am }

Chris – thanks for commenting and yes debate gets a little robust particularly in the last 2 weeks of a show when people are so emotionally involved with their favourite contestants. No personal attacks are not OK on other commenters. Are you thinking Golo is calling you a fucking hypocrite because on my reading he appeared to be calling Ben one. Though I could be wrong. However Golo might be able to clarify that and if it is aimed at you I will edit.

Golo – I also give you a lot of slack as well and realise that some of your more inflammatory remarks are there to niggle or to inflame. However sometimes your comments do add value to the discussion. HOwever I am somewhat amused that you and BDD are barracking for the same person.

These days I do think we do over use the words bullying and troll particularly in the media and on online forums. I oscillate on whether Estelle has or has not been bullied in the house. At times she has definitely been isolated, but I also feel she has been very clever in pushing this plot line. As they all have been pushing their own agendas in the diary room. Maybe next year they should only allow the Housemates in there twice a day to “chat”. As it looked like something would happen in the house and then they run in there to tell big brother about it or give their take on events. In a sense they were trying to control the message they were sending out to voters. Or they were just dobbing.

Kaz – agree with more interview time elimination night and make it cosier. Sonia has been good, and the reason is we have not been talking about her. She has kept the conversation going without it becoming about her. I wish they would not throw to the percentage vote as soon as they get out on stage and then the lets see who nominated you. Maybe start off with some of the funny positive things they did in the house, then the hard emotional stuff, and then nice footage again.

Jane @10 – agree.

6 Christina { 11.07.12 at 10:54 am }

@ Straight at the Horses Mouth – I really have no idea what point you are trying to get across??? We all have been watching the show, and thus know the opinions of those housemates. Doesn’t mean they are correct! It’s either their perception (so one side of the story) or a strategic comment.

One example – re Sam suddenly feeling uncomfortable. What guy feels uncomfortable with a pretty girl flirting?! In fact, he himself is quite the flirt as we saw when he first went in! He was quite happy flirting with all the girls, including Estelle, yet she was the one to blame? And when he realised (was TOLD) he went along with blaming Estelle, no doubt to look good for the viewer and to his in-house gf, Layla! But in my opinion, neither of them were in the wrong – it was innocent flirting, from two adults. :)

7 Straight from the horse’s mouth { 11.07.12 at 10:54 am }

Rapunzel @ 101 & Christina @106 – just thought I’d post the tweets as I discovered that there was a LOT more going on behind the scenes than we’ve been shown on TV.

For example did you know that Estelle & Angie had some sort of sexual flirtation – kissing in truth or dare and waking up & sharing a dream of hooking up? I could find the links for those if you like. This explains Angie’s choice.

And as for everyone else saying nice things afterwards – that’s all because they don’t want to look nasty and/or it takes a courageous person to stand up and own the harsh words they’ve said – easier to say it was a mistake.

8 Reality Raver { 11.07.12 at 10:56 am }

There will be an open grand finale post started tonight for people to comment on whilst the finale is in process. This means readers from other states that are not getting it live won’t get hit with spoilers if they don’t want to see them.

It would be appreciated if there was not too much hubris if the person you wanted to win does win.

9 pecanpie { 11.07.12 at 10:57 am }

RR – That is so true about the use of the diary room. I think it was more about what message they wanted to get out to the public. It was very tactical. They didn’t use the psychologist as much as previous years or ask the HMs if they wanted to speak to the psych. Especially when HMs were getting really upset or like with Angie and Layla having ‘that’ blow up.

10 kess { 11.07.12 at 11:20 am }

Don’t know how anyone can take this crappy 9 version seriously.
It’s ALL been hearsay – what someone said someone said, or someone said someone did – very rarely did we get the ACTUAL ACTION or ACTUAL COVERSATION.
3 incidents they actually showed us, Brad water toss; Sarah lectures Estelle; Sarah/Ray fight.

All the rest is utter manipulation and bullshit.

So – Ben should win, he’s been the entertainment

11 brain dead dave { 11.07.12 at 11:46 am }

Ooooooh…Ah doon’t nor what “hubris” means, RR.

12 Rapunzel { 11.07.12 at 11:49 am }

I didnt see Estelle push the bullying or rather isolating issue but i did c her answer direct questions in the DR about how she felt. Ive heard most of the hms comment on why they dnt like Estelle and its either i just dont connect with her she talks over the top of us (that one always came from those who r used to having the floor) which each and every hm was guilty of themselves. Or she flirted. She could have broken many times and actually milked it she certainly had enough ammo but she didnt. I still think the women in there were driven by there own insecurities jealousies and just plain being led around by the nose by others manipulators to further their own cause.

13 Liberty { 11.07.12 at 11:50 am }

Found the survivor style event ok, a bit too forced/staged though. Take 3 garden walk, cue light jovial tone, ACTION. Take 4 Kitchen, Ben/Layla NO bitching please, Estelle only ONE personality per segment please! ACTION. Perhaps one step further and have a housemates reunion show? Not like the scream-athon we’ll see tonight. A smaller audience that can ask questions about why they did certain things and why they behaved in a particular manner.

Would love to see an 1800’s or early 1900’s weekly challenge. Where they all have to dress the part, exist on staples of the day, etc. I liked the YES/NO challenge, they could take it further next year.

Doesn’t seem like any of the post show interviews really asked any difficult questions. Even with Zoe, I thought that while they mentioned some of her antics lately regarding Michael and Estelle, she didn’t appear to give any explanation. The morning show interviews have always been somewhat hurried (can’t wait to air the next infomercial?) Michael, Angie etc. “bigger” personalities who have left the house didn’t get as long as someone like Ava, who I’m sure had the longest ever exit interview. Why was that?

I think Sonya was awesome! Way better than GK. Another entertaining part of new format was Big Brother himself. Some of the things he said were hilarious! I’ll miss my nightly laughter fix.

Estelle deserves to lose – just so I can see that ugly cry one more time….her game is up! Ben to win and deservedly so…was his great bitchy wonderful self right til the end…played a great social game and hope all his haters get heart burn tonight when he takes the crown! Go Benny Boy…

20 Veronicali { 11.07.12 at 1:55 pm }

How ungracious were Ben and Layla. So much nastiness in what was ironically supposed to be the ‘family friendly’ season.

21 brain dead dave { 11.07.12 at 2:34 pm }

Hey Veronicali, I agree but Layla never knew what “gracious” meant, anyway.

No chance of her winning…but there’s still time for her to audition for The Biggest Loser. Pass the Tim Tams.

“Heartburn” is one word for the benefit of the idiot that excreted #119. I hope you get an education one day.

22 Jane { 11.07.12 at 3:07 pm }

Re bullying: It is about power. The bully has it, the victim doesn’t. The bully may use pysical violence, malicious words, intimidation, slander or exlusion/isolation. Fighting, arguing, even being nasty, although vices, are not bullying unless one has the greater or all of the power. The power may come from attributes such as authority, weight of numbers (the pop crowd) or an intimidating build or demeanour. The victim (for want of a better word) may simply lack these attributes or simply not wish to fight fire with fire. Often with bullying the victim has no where to turn for help and hence is powerless.
I was in a work place where staff were bullied into submission by bosses who used intimidation. Staff were afraid to speak up when something was wrong.
In the BB house a group that had the power, through having the favoured social skills for that particular group (notice I didn’t say good social skills) were able to single out and target one for regular criticism, correction ( wouldn’t it be stressful to have people who weren’t really your friends regularly confronting you about your flaws), mocking, exclusion and nomination. Estelle must have felt pretty fragile without support. When anyone showed her friendship she was also attacked for that, more so than Michael or Ava were blamed. Of course I’m not doubting that producers may have ramped it up for good viewing but they can’t put on what isn’t happening.
Michael commented issue of power when Layla briefly switched her fickle alliegance to Estelle a couple of weeks ago, for about 5 seconds. Of course Sam who never had a problem was with her and they seemed to make up a three. Michael said ‘The power has shifted” and he changed his tactics accordingly.
In wanting to stick up for our favourite hm some of us (I) have said some harsh things about those we have percieved as the villains of the social dynamic because we have empathised with our favourite hm.
I think that because Estelle supporters are anti-bullying, when the time comes, should Estelle not win, we would follow her beautiful example of how to treat others and be good sports about it. Even if we did get BB fever and go nuts in the lead up. Go Estelle we really admire your kindness and courage. I hope when you come out people treat you with the respect and politeness that you deserve.

Miss Mars@55 So aptly put.
And BDD I love your humour. If I didn’t enjoy the comments and deabte I’d go to another site. Even the trolls when they appear are don’t bother me because I am free to ignore them.
I love this blog as you can tell by my daily addiction.

25 brain dead dave { 11.07.12 at 3:32 pm }

Thanks Jane.

I’ve been called something very similar to “cult” on this very blog and have to be philosophical about the negative feedback I get.

Nil desperandum.

Im nervous excited and i must say glad its soon to b over. I agree Jane if our girl loses i will b gracious. I will not congratulate ben bcoz i know that behaviour is never acceptable to me but i will not say a bad thing in honour of Estelle and her loveliness. If she ever endevours into anything that i can show my support for her i shall. I think the campaign of rot against her may triumph but it dosnt change my opinion. I wasnt going to come back after bcoz of the trolls but if Estelle can take it then so will I. I ao putting it into the universe GOOD LUCK

hopefully estelle is wearing the crown when i tune back in.
go esTelle!!! 😀

31 Suziekue { 11.07.12 at 4:40 pm }

I agree with you Jane – bullying is about power in all its many forms. Estelle has been the subject of prolonged bullying in the BB house and Endemol have just been damn lucky that Estelle has been a strong enough person to cope. I’ve seen people in my workplaces succumb very badly for much less bullying.

@ Liberty – I also love the idea of an 1800s or 1900s week. These could include the food, clothes, moral attitudes (mack habits), manners etc.

In the next BB house, I’d like to see less permeability between the inside BB house and the outside world to decrease the housemates tendency to continually play to the cameras and audience. This year there was too much Diary Room interaction, too much footage of themselves shown to the housemates making them hyperaware of their being filmed, and reduced contact from outside e.g. letters and vid messages. To bring out the best BB audience experience, the housemates should be isolated and have a sense of isolation from the outside world. And a wider diversity of housemates please, and certainly not any from casting agents or those whose whole goal of being in the house is a job in the media. And finally, can the stinky Ch 9 budget be stretched for prizes for the evictees. It’s embarassing that they come out to a “well thanks for being on the show, now bugger off” attitude. Sheesh, if Ch 9 is that broke, I’d even chip in for a box of choccies fo them.

32 Anonymous { 11.07.12 at 5:00 pm }

Dear BDD,
You are like so funny and witty and just amaze-balls. You really are…your cult like status on this site is like super duper fantazmo…I am so jealous of you & would one day like to be just as smart, witty & all round do u even sleep at night knowing how effing amaze-balls you are??? must be hard having to correct all the trolls on this site who have a different opinion and do not follow you around like flies to shit…I feel your pain – KEEP IT UP THE PEOPLE’S CHAMPION!! get those accolades – they are all yours!! living legend of the internet…wooooooot!

33 A.P { 11.07.12 at 5:02 pm }

I’m getting a bit nervous now for Estelle and worried that she won’t win because of the hate campaign against her on facebook etc.
In the last series of BB we didn’t have that so the only way people could vote was by phone. There wouldn’t have been all the hatred and bullying we have seen,
It scares me that people will boo when she comes out, especially by the Ben fans.
I’ve voted about dozen times today and I’m praying she wins.
If she doesn’t then at least we know she had nothing to be ashamed of the way she played the game.
RR, hopefully if you get a chance to interview her can you tell her she had a lot of support here and we think she’s a great girl.
I won’t be checking in on here on the live blog as I don’t want to know anything before its shown here in Qld.
Good Luck Estelle, you are a winner in my eyes!

34 Goło i Wesolo { 11.07.12 at 5:17 pm }

@ 133: Don’t you find it fascinating how Benjamin’s supporters are just as vile and venomous as he is?

Proves what I’ve been saying all along: giving Benjamin the win will inevitably send an ominous message to our children that bullying is perfectly acceptable. We’re already seeing just how well this is playing out with the emergence of a nasty hate/bullying campaign against Estelle.

So appalled at Goło i Wesolo! @134 “giving Benjamin the win will inevitably send an ominous message to our children that bullying is perfectly acceptable.”

You are such a hypocrite!

Have a look at what has come out your mouth over the past week:

And I’m assuming you think that Ben is an angel and isn’t two-faced at all, right? Fucking hypocrite.
If you or anybody else honestly thinks that Estelle was the only one with “multiple faces,” you’re absolutely delusional.

I’d rather have her (Estelle) win than give the money to a fag who gets off on mentally debasing and bullying others for their own sick pleasure.

It’s a complete shock to me how Ben even has a boyfriend considering his vile and venomous vitriol against Estelle. Who the hell would want to be with somebody who does such nasty things to others?
I’d be running for the nearest gay bar if I were Ben’s boyfriend. What a desperate and pathetic fool.

Ben should be the one to go first for being a disgusting and morally reprehensible person

How about we bully you instead so you know how it feels?

38 Rapunzel { 11.07.12 at 5:49 pm }

Ive never such vile hate towards someone as im seeing for Estelle. And by looking at the pictures of the x hms i c all the instigators stuck together. Ava and Ryan please b there for Estelle. Im actually frightened for her after seeing the crazies in the bet. I hope she can go overseas for a while and hang out with some savvy world travelled people and she can put this crass experience behind her. I cant remember when ive ever seen such vile behaviour of so many people on social media. It has a very low base scummy feeling to it. Almost lord of the flies. God help us i wouldnt b surprised if hunger games competitions got a look in in the next decade. Estelle darling I hope life brings you peace kindness and much love.

40 Jane { 11.07.12 at 6:02 pm }

AP@133 Now that the BB producers have seen the booing, they may already have a contingency plan. Maybe they will pre-direct he audience not to boo, but I think if itdoes happen again Sonia will have something to say about it.
Has anyone noticed that Sonia seems to sympathise with Estelle. I think that’s why she didn’t let Michael off completely. She was too kind to give him a hammering but she let him squirm.
Maybe Sonia was picked on att school for being smart and good looking. She has come out of BB a winner. Apart from loving the clothes she wore on Dancing, I was like “Whatever” , but I am liking her a lot now.

41 Rapunzel { 11.07.12 at 6:18 pm }

I like Sonja shes got backbone. Sometimes she reminds me of one of those raptors(in the nicest possible way of course).
