My Kitchen Rules: Carly and Rocco Are Toast
One of 2012 My Kitchen Rules couples has now ended, with Carly and Rocco going separate ways, and it may not have been that amicable.
This week’s Woman’s Day reports that there were some things said on Facebook that have now been removed then followed by claims the page had been hacked! Reading between the lines of the article it looked like the Woman’s Day writer wasn’t buying the hacking part of the story at all.
The article said:
The pair finally admitted they had split up when a series of extraordinary posts on their Facebook pages came to light which suggested they were in the middle of a public bust up.
“Hi to all my Facebook fans who think I [Rocco] am the best guy in the world,” said the status update posted last week.
It then went on to make a series of unfounded allegations against the TV cook, including referring to Rocco as a “sleaze bag good for nothing”. And as fans began commenting on the bizarre rant, they all began to assume it was his girlfriend Carly who had just “vented”.
It even appeared she’d joined in the fray, outing herself as the one who posted the message.
“I don’t believe it’s called hacking when that person is myself, Carly, who has been his girlfriend for the last 15 months,” came a reply from Carly and Emily’s fan page.
So when Woman’s Day contacted the couple, we were expecting to hear that their love had gone cold, but instead they told us they had been the victims of an elaborate hacking hoax designed to make it appear that it was Carly writing the posts.
“Our page got hacked but we are still together,” said Carly at first.
An emotional Rocco also said their pages had been hacked and that they were still together.
But later, he and Carly confirmed they had gone their separate ways.
“Rocco and I have not been together for some time now,” said Carly. The Facebook posts which went up last week were intended to make it look like Carly was behind them. She denied having anything to do with them.
“I was shocked when I saw it,” she said. “My personal page got hacked too! It’s the problem with social media these days.”
The hacker went to great lengths to organise the elaborate hoax and seemed determined to make sure it appeared to be Carly behind it. To pull off the deception and make people believe all the posts were coming from Carly, the hacker would have to get access to several accounts, including Rocco and teammate Nic’s fan page, Carly and teammate Emily’s fan page, and even Carly’s personal page.
One fan said she “was shocked & dumbfounded to say the least when I read what was written”. The posts were deleted from Nic and Rocco’s page within half an hour of them being posted.
In a bizarre twist, the hacker behind the keyboard seemed to have a change of heart, writing a Facebook message on Carly’s page to a fan.
“It was completely inexcusable the way in which I reacted,” read the message. “I am sorry for jumping to conclusions and acting so foolishly. I has paid an expensive price.”
In other MKR wedding news Carla has now married her Mexican chef fiance, and interestingly Tom did not go to the wedding. The theory being that he was in love with her and did not want to be there.
My Kitchen Rules is currently filming and will be seen on our screens on SEVEN early 2013.
