Has Farmer Wants A Wife Been Put Out To Pasture?

Farmer Wants A Wife looks like it has been dumped. The show was missing from the NINE launch schedule yesterday and TV Tonight reports NINE are still undecided about its future.

Farmer has previously been a hit series for the Network the two previous series have been a bit lean on ratings, though they have been respectable.

However it does not look promising for the dating show that really did bring people together there are now marriage and babies to prove the format did work. This year they tricked it up a bit trying to add a bit more drama and it did not end up attracting new fans but also pushed some old ones away.

If this show is dumped that will mean there will be no dating reality TV shows on free to air next year, as Please Marry My Boy was not renewed and Dinner Date was not on our screens this year. It will be interesting to see if TEN’s Come Date With Me will ever see the daylight.

That show could be so great but they’ve spoiled it in my opinion. They should only accept farmers who really are in isolated areas. Only accept girls who appear to be genuine and not looking for a shot at TV. Let the farmers take their time so that they’re not making bad choices. And stop recapping every second of footage.

The show lost me when they broadened the definition of “farmer” to include “itinerant farm laborers”, like that Wolf Creek-esque, unwashed WA guy, but still crapped on that this was about luv, rather than getting a bloke most women would run faster from than a rabid hyena a regular, unpaid root.

That said I’ll back up to watch “Itinerant Farm Laborer Wants A Skank” as long as they drop all pretence that this is about “romance”.

Better still, I’ll religiously watch “Ex-con on Parole Wants a Skank…boy does he want a skank”, but only if Lara Bingle is the host the cons can leer at. C’mon Nine. You know this is good concept.

Agree with the above two comments. Some of The ” farmers ” this year were fake and offered nothing to the poor desperate girls.
How rude were some of them!

Culinary @2 I think you have a winner. “Jailhouse schlock!” Conjugal visits, ex-con reunions. “Prison pillow-talk”.

For anyone interested on an update:
Farmer Wants a Wife – this show was a hit in it’s original format then it got schmaltzy. TV Week out today, says Season 7’s Frank and Tenille tied the knot. The 6th couple to wed since the show first aired.

Then on the other side of the coin, not as much luck, with Please Marry my Boy, no success stories so wonder too, if they will have it on next year. Why bother really?

The last episode showed Carlo/Tanya, Nathan/Fiona and Brad/Tegan as the perfect pairs – they have all split since the show ended.

Thanks Daze for the update on PMMB! Was thinking that none of them really stood a chance. At least there have been alot of success stories with FWAW.
Agree with others though, last years farmers were shockers.

Thanks Izobel2. I don’t mind investing my time following these shows and stories, and love it when real love flows onto marriage ie FWAW – not fake reality love, lol.

Thought with PMMB Carlo was serious then noticed Tanya pulled back so not terribly surprised about them, and Nathan preferred the other girl anyhow (his mum didn’t). Don’t know if I’ll bother next year, so far, it’s been 2 dud series.

Looking fwd to Natalie Gruzlewski hosting new date show When Love Comes to Town (2014).
