The Block All Stars – Contestant Collapses

Reality TV shows love a bit of drama and an ambulance was called to The Block All Stars set on Monday to take Mark Bowyer to hospital.

Mark who is 55 years old is teamed up again with his mate Duncan for the All Stars series. He has been discharged from hospital but has been ordered to rest. It is unknown whether he will return to the series.

Expect to see this drama played out on the show next year.

However Sydney Morning Herald reports host Scott Cam, and Duncan’s wife have stepped in to help out.

The SMH states:

Block All-Star (contestant) Mark Bowyer, who was conducting an interview early on Monday morning, complained of dizziness and feeling “not quite right”,” a spokesman for Nine confirmed.

“Immediately, foreman Keith (trained in first aid) saw to him and ordered an ambulance.

“Minutes later he was taken to hospital where they performed a series of tests. He was released that afternoon with orders to rest.”

Bowyer and Miller became instant fan favourites when they took part in The Block in 2010 – marking the show’s return after a six-year absence – for their laid-back attitude and the fact they brought a pie warmer with them into their Vaucluse unit.

During the series the pair often complained of the stressful workload brought on by the hectic pace of 24/7 restoration, amplified by the fact they were older than most other contestants.

Mark and Duncan in their season had to also hold down a full time job and renovate after hours so this series should be a tad easier, however they are probably still expected to turn over a room a week.

Hopefully Mark will be back on the Bondi set soon.

The Block All Stars on NINE in early 2013.

I bet the producers are again trying to get the contestants to do the impossible again. Probably won’t be satisfied until they actually kill a contestant

I hope he improves quickly. Both for his sake and for mine as he and his partner are pretty much the only team I like in Allstars

Wish I’d had a penny for every time I’ve watched The Block and felt ” not quite right”. I could build a penthouse in Point Piper.

The producers probably wanted to re shoot the collapse in front of a Mitre 10 sign.

If it’s reality TV , they should show the poor bastard waiting for hours in Casualty before he even gets seen at the hospital.

First time having returned to NZ that I have watched ‘The block” down under style! Hooked. You two are such a team, makes me miss my DIY mates in the UK! If you need some fish for your tank, we have two really grovey gold fish called sharkey and flappy who Jack (our 9 year old) said you could borrow as long as you paid the air fare! LOL. Rooting for you.
