Formal Wars – A Reality Show About The End Of Year Formal
Channel Seven today have announced a new reality show for their 2013 season called Formal Wars. The premise being the parents will pick the clothes their daughter will wear to their end of year formal.
Obviously this will be to try and stop them from dressing too hoochie. As tight lycra and neck breaking high heels appear to be the look these days it will be interesting to see if conflict arises on parental choices.
The press release says:
Filming is currently underway on Channel Seven’s new fly-on-the-wall reality series Formal Wars, set to premiere in 2013.
High school graduates are now celebrating the end of their school days in an industry estimated to be worth $3 billion a year. But this once-in-a-lifetime experience will be turned on its head for the girls in Formal Wars. It’ll be every young woman’s worst nightmare when their school formal is hijacked by their parents.
In a radical experiment of generational trust, mums and dads, daughters and sons will put their faith in each other as their parents choose everything from the dress to their date, hair, make-up and arrival. Do their parents know them well enough to ensure a great night? Or will they embarrass them in front of all their friends on the biggest night of their life?
“Exploring the relationship between teenagers and parents is fascinating. And with the school formal rapidly becoming the biggest day in a teenager’s life, the reactions when we tell them their parents are in control have been priceless,” says Seven’s Director of Network Production Brad Lyons.
Tension is high and politeness is pushed to the limit, but at its core Formal Wars is a touching series about parents and teenagers at one of the most important times of their relationship.
Formal Wars is an original format by Matchbox Pictures for Channel Seven.
