Adam Levine Thinks He Is Higher Up The Reality TV Food Chain Then Honey Boo Boo

Coach on The Voice, Adam Levine, has never been shy in voicing his opinion, in fact he has even been known to be disparaging about reality TV talent shows. Clearly not the one that he is actually on….

This time he has unleashed on another reality TV star Honey Boo Boo because clearly he thinks that he is the only person who can make money out of the reality TV genre.

In fact he is so freaked out by the show he seems to pegging the decline of modern civilisation on the  seven year old beauty pageant star.

In an interview to GQ magazine he said:

“Seriously, Honey Boo Boo is the DECAY of Western civilization. Just because so many people watch the show doesn’t mean it’s good. So many people witness atrocities and can’t take their eyes away from them, but that doesn’t mean they’re good. That show is literally The. Worst. Thing. That’s. Ever. Happened. It’s complete fucking ignorance and the most despicable way to treat your kids. Fuck those people. You can put that in the magazine: Fuck those idiots. They’re just the worst. Sorry, I’m so sensitive to that—like, I don’t know, man, it’s upsetting. Just to clarify, I said, “FUCK THOSE PEOPLE.”

Adam seriously needs to get a perspective on Honey Boo Boo, it may be exploitative, but is it so bad that this dirt poor family is making some money. Sure it might not meet his white middle class sensibilities but it is just reality TV show.

For those who want to make their own opinion about the show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo premieres on Discovery Health on 31 January at 8pm.

Good point Raver.
I have it on good authority that the decline of Western Civilisation occurred a few years ago, precipitated by lame and self-important but entirely inconsequential pop rock bands like Maroon 5 –

As if The Voice is some kind of high water mark in human evolution.

bdd, I thought Simon Cowell was the high-water mark of human evolution, the veritable ubermensch of masculine perfection, while George Calombaris on the other hand…

I agree with Adam to an extent. The show troubles me because it’s very exploitative. The family may be making money out of it, but people are watching it because they’re laughing AT the family and I often feel bad that this family is being ridiculed.

I have no problem with him voicing an opinion. I learnt a while ago that, people are losing honesty because of what others think of them. I value honesty and I don’t mind him saying an opinion to be perfectly honest. We all have them, and I admire people who can say the most unpopular opinions. That pretty much says guts to me.

Disagree that Honey Boo Boo is the “decay of Western civilisation” because Western civilisation started decaying YEARS and YEARS ago in many different forms like the media, bad journalism, Bush, Obama, American politics, etcetera…

Pecs like Simon Cowell… mo like Freddy Mercury (another great medical science advance) –

Western civilisation bounces back (like a dead cat), taking it’s cue from the middle east this time.

I think the most disturbing element in all this for Honey Boo Boo is being called Honey Boo Boo. I expect she’ll extract her revenge when she get a bit older – most teenagers do.

Agree with bdd – Adam can hardly call them out on standards and ethics in the RTV industry – it’s all exploitive in some way, shape or form.

Right, Georgie – just a few years and it’ll be Honey Boob Boob doing cheap porn. Dr Phil will be there to help.

Well Adam is right about Honey Boo Boo – what an unfortunate girl and family. I think people are watching it like they’re watching a train crash. I also agree with Ari, it’s good when someone voices their opinions, regardless of what people will think, whether it tarnishes their image or not, he has the guts to speak up and I bet a lot of people agree with his views.
