Carols By Candlelight – Where Was Karise Eden?

After watching NINE’s Carols By Candlelight it was interesting to note that the winner of The Voice was the only one of the four finalists not to perform at the concert.

Sarah De Bono who looked like Ariel from A Little Mermaid, Rachel Leahcar and Darren Percival all performed as did judge Delta Goodrem. However Karise was nowhere to be seen.

It did make me wonder she did not make an appearance, and this week’s TV WEEK may have the answer.

They say the 19 year old was burnt out.

They write:

Immediately after her win, the then 19 year-old was presented with a hectic work schedule that meant upholding endless press commitments and putting together her first album.

Six months on,  the New South Wales Central Coast local is burnt out, and has had to step away from the stage to recover.

At the beginning of October Karise teamed up with fellow contestant Lakyn Hepari for their Heavenly Sounds tour, but the duo were forced to cancel the remaining concerts due to Karise’s poor health.

“Karise has fallen quite ill, so she’ll  need a little while to rest up and get better,” Lakyn told TV WEEK.

Karise has turned down requests for interview, and she was not on her social media sites for a month. Her next booked performance is apparently at Bluesfest at Byron Bay around Easter of 2013.

Hopefully Karise does not let the pressure of fame and the hard work that goes with it get to her and she has a successful singing career.

Seems sensible to me if she needs a break, to take one. Sounds like a healthy choice to have a rest when needed.

It’s just a shame that The Collective didn’t miss Carols In the Domain on Ch 7. They are complete rubbish.

Damn, missed it again – for the 28th year!

Wouldn’t mind a ticket to Bluesfest though. Santana, Taj Mahal and Paul Simon will be playing in 2013.

Ch ~9~ could easily have got on to the front foot and substituted Altijan Juric at the last minute.

Doug Parkinson sleighed ’em on Carols In The Domain.

Now come on bdd, be fair. I know he was never a superstar like Altiyan, but Dougy has had a long and active musical career, which is more than AJ will ever achieve.

Personally, I’ve never been keen on his voice, but he went to high school with a very good friend of mine so I went to a few of his gigs around Sydney in the mid ’70s. He gave Tommy Emmanuel a start in the Southern Star Band too and has supported some huge overseas names touring Aus over the years.
