Masterchef: The Professionals – Who Do You Think Will Win?
Sarah did not use her immunity pin as she thought it was not fair on Rhys who had won dish of the day in the previous challenge. But she had also won the immunity pin fair and square. She should have played it. The guys would not have been so nice about it. Rhett and Nick were emphatic they would have used it.
Tonight was a service challenge overseen by Donovan Cooke and he is more of a hard arse than Marco Pierre White. Bring him back again.
The contestants were split into two teams. The green team was Sarah, Bonny and Nathan, and the red team was Nick, Rhett, and Michael.
Each team had to replicate Donovan and Marco’s signature dishes and they all took one each.
Bonny who had the easiest dish and was struggling with prep, and Sarah had to help her out. However Matt Preston did like the flavours of it. Marco thought Nick’s quail was perfect except for the butchery of the quail. The problem with Nick is that he is so slow in prep. This time he had only done 50% of his preparation by the time service had started. At one stage Michael had to go off dessert to assist him. Also at service Donovan had to step in and plate up. By this stage Nick was just yanking the bones out of the quail which was at odds with him saying he wanted perfection.
Rhett was also having issues with Donovan’s Confit of Salmon. He undercooked it and even Marco and Matt Preston sent it back as it was cold. Should Rhett have been judged on the dish he sent out? His second dish was thought to be cooked perfectly.
Nathan’s lamb was much better, however Matt thought the jus tasted like it was burnt and you could see it boiling away on the stove. Also what is it with chef’s on food shows and licking of knives with Marco Pierre White committing this sin when tasting Nathan’s lamb.
Michael made Yoghurt Pannacotta With Strawberry Soup, the judges had no complaints and if he had not been up against Sarah’s chocolate tart it would have been dish of the day.
Sarah had taken the death dish of MPW’s chocolate tart from his restaurant Harvey’s. Marco said it was very good. However Matt was gushing say she had done an amazing job. They then discussed how she led the green team as well. Hopefully she can take out the title next week as she has been the most consistent chef this series. Her dishes have been standouts, she is a great leader and team player. She should expect job offers flooding in.
With the green team winning the challenge this meant Bonny was safe, however at this stage she should not have needed the assistance that she received. Even Donovan went up to her in prep time and asked her if she needed help. He did not ask anyone else that. Also she was told she should have had time to assist the others but this was not the case.
Sure her dish was good and that is what it should have been judged, however she has flown under the radar and there are better cooks in the competition. Maybe she can prove me wrong and pick it up a notch next week because with the prize on the line the chefs are not going to be so helpful.
Bottom two were Rhett and Nick with Nick being eliminated.
The finals week chefs are Rhett, Sarah, Nathan, Michael, Rhys and Bonny.
