The Block: All Stars Finale On This Wednesday 20 March From 7.00pm

For awhile there the airing of The Block: All Stars Finale was a bigger mystery than who killed JR.

Even though the auction was set for Tuesday night in real life, NINE was being coy about when to air it. It has now been revealed a two hour finale will be screened on Wednesday night on NINE from 7.00pm. Hat tip to TV Tonight for being ever vigilant on the programming schedules, as TV Guides from Sunday papers will not have been able to update as this information was revealed too late for their publishing schedules.

It will be interesting to see what the reserves are and who will win. At this stage I think Phil and Amity have it in the bag. What do you think?

The Block: All Stars on 7.00pm weeknights and 6.30pm on Sunday on NINE.

I hope that Phil & Amity win, they’ve added the most value and played by the rules. If the boys Mark/Duncan/Dale win I’ll be equally happy – someone out there is going to love their crazy house.

Josh & Jenna had the most beautiful bathroom and had many elements that I liked but I’m so turned off them personally that I don’t want them to win – so smug and obnoxious, not to mention cheats. Dan and Dani were shown up for what they are – nothing special. I think the fact that Dan had disdain for the heritage aspects of the house means that they don’t really deserve a win. What on earth did they do with that heritage oven? They plastered it into a wall, hoping to make it disappear – they clearly had no idea that this is a feature which could have been a big selling point to people who like these heritage homes. I was bored by theirs and Josh & Jenna’s depressing bedsit/retirement home colour schemes.

I think Phil & Amity ftw, then Mark & Duncan – love their fish tank and kitchen, bathroom not so much.
Best result will be if JJ and DD’s houses only reach reserve. DD already won over 400k last year, they don’t need anymore, and JJ, well I don’t care about them :p

JM, yes DD stuffed up with the oven, and Dani just rehashed her last year’s styling.

The other thing about the beautiful 100 year old heritage oven is that I think that it looks modern, the design is so timeless and classic (and industrial) that it will still look good 200 years ago whereas Dan/Dani’s expensive but underwhelming concrete floors and modern touches will look dated 10 years from now. I think in future if The Block is going to renovate older or heritage houses they should choose contestants who have experience or respect and love for these older buildings so that we can get more interesting and sympathetic results.

If The Block want to renovate modern box-like spaces (aka a few of those ugly high rise Penthouses from last week’s challenge) then they should go for the Gen Y contestants who appreciate a soul-less, white, blank box. I’m only in my forties but I’m tired of Gen Y’s disdain for anything that isn’t “new” and wasn’t built last year. They belong on a different show.

I both hope and think P&A deserve the win! Stylish and beautiful. The mezzanine a huge plus and love the restored stove. Also much prefer their colours and layout. Second house for me is D&D who also put their lounge at the back (good indoor/outdoor living). They could be the dark horse however as have water glimpse if the buyer adds a second story. 3rd for me would be M&D&D but if some crazy millionaires falls in love it there could be a bidding war as none of the others come close to similar style. J&Js last as think their kitchen is in the wrong place and the bench is too far away to be practical. Either way will be interesting!

I hope the boys win it, really over the Phil and Amity fan club – so rude to other people if you happened to not agree with them. Their house is super boring – no personality not a single wow factor hit me. Nice styling if you like spotlight catalogues other than that it just doesnt have enough living space, certainly not if you added the upstairs bedroom and kept the lounge room as a bedroom – where is everyone going to eat or sit?

I’m backing Mark and Duncan… if two fat pie eating beer swilling plumbers crack sporting tradies can’t beat the Gen Y touchy feely tree hugging earth loving vegan eating green voting teams then what is this great country coming to… honestly…

If you don’t agree with that, email me: 60Minutes@nine.com.au

Phil & Amity for the win!

ROFL Dr T – I haven’t watched this show, but I love your take on the final.

I think P & A have it in the bag. They have two bedrooms plus a study, a third bedroom that could easily be converted to a second living if required and two bathrooms: their house is, by far, the most flexible.

I am with pretty much everyone else – P & A or The Boys please, the Gen Yers were unbearable. Josh and Jenna have one living room that is an empty box and another living space that is literally the size of a box: urgh, I was claustraphobic just looking at that room.

I am keen for the finale :)

Thought the scoring for the living room was rigged for Dan and Dani to win. Didn’t think much of their backyard either. What is it with showers in the back yard?

Though Dale’s design was clever in you don’t need a lawn mower in such a small space.

Does anyone know who won yet? Or is everyone adhering to the CA?

Article in the Herald about Jenna getting job offers:
http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/tv-and-radio/white-is-a-winner-the-blocks-josh-and-jenna-20130319-2gcz3.html Please don’t tell me this is an indication they won.

Also another article saying that (Nine’s) purchase price for the houses is not in the public domain http://www.propertyobserver.com.au/the-block-/bondi-the-block-all-stars-buyers-blindsided-by-purchase-price-secrecy
