The Voice Australia – Seal Is The Voice Whisperer
Seal is “the voice whisperer” as he thinks he can hear great hardship in someones tone. After physically disabled Shawne Kirk had selected to be on his team Seal declared “Through great pain comes great art.” He had also used this “skill” to ask talented Jackie Sannias what hardship she had been through as he could hear it in her voice.
She mentioned she had been bullied and her parents had divorced, not quite up there with brothers committing suicide, being in a coma or having a drug addled dysfunctional sibling but then we can’t walk in her shoes.
Not sure what Seal would have done with vocal coach Katie Carr if he had turned around. She was happy with her life and in love with her boyfriend. Ricky did turn, not sure she was that good, but she had a nice vibe about her and could be a bit of a dark horse in the competition if she can control her nerves.
Shawne Kirke became disabled at the age of 12 after an asthma attack put him in a coma and after waking up had lost function of his extremities now needing crutches to mobilise. Seal turned around as did Joel. He chose Seal. Not sure he has the goods to get to the live shows. However he is getting publicity, like being on the Today show Wednesday morning, and this always helps attract a fan base.
However Jackie Sannias will make it too the live shows. Even at 17 years of age her voice was mesmerising and throw in playing an instrument and a sweet personality and people will be lining up to vote. She went on Team Delta. Delta who could not get anyone on her team last year has them lining up to get on this season.
This is the year of the quirky folksy female voice and one of these was Hannah Darling (I am presuming this is not her real name) a 21 years old music journalist who sang Ghosts. At the end she said please turn around and Joel and Seal who are clearly follow directions well then hit the button. She picked Joel. Her back story was having drug addiction in her family and apparently this dysfunction continues.
Ben Goldstein a 20 year old from Bondi. He sang the Bedouin Song. Delta turned early and got her flirt on and it sealed the deal. He had an interesting voice.
Rebekah Strongman was a 17 years old singer who seems to be coached by her mum. She had a brother who has downs syndrome unfortunately her voice was not strong enough to get the chairs to turn around.
Gimmick act Emma and Sarah Linnegar were twins and they sang Runaway. It wasn’t until they were half way through that the judges knew there were two up there. No one turned and once they saw they were cuties a couple of the judges looked disappointed.
Mitchell Anderson is a 44 year old has been performing full time in pubs and clubs. His mother died Christmas Day a couple of years ago and he was obviously close to her and also his dad. He sang Sexual Healing. Seal turned and look like he was expecting a black guy but all he saw was a tubby ageing guy who badly needs to update his hair cut. The positive for him was his dad who seemed sweet.
Luke Mansini is 27 years old who was refreshingly a rank amateur. This was his first audition and the commercial artist had an interesting voice. He sang Hometown Glory. Seal turned as did Delta but Delta got him for his team.
