The Voice – Luke Kennedy’s Back Story Is Unravelling

luke kennedy

Runner up on The Voice Australia Luke Kennedy gained much sympathy because of his struggle of depression, however it appears he might not be quite the nice guy he was made out to be.

Luke’s back story was about suffering from depression and he spoke about his separation from his wife and his two year old daughter.

Early in the series I mused that it would be interesting to get his wife’s side of the story and it appears we now have it albeit through a close source. There is indeed two sides to every story.

The Daily Telegraph (via the Courier Mail) revealed he had an affair whilst his wife was pregnant.

The article says:

The source told The Sunday Mail Kennedy began an affair with his wife’s married friend, Naomi Price, a Brisbane-based performer, before Rebecca gave birth.

Kennedy moved out when the baby was just a few weeks old, the source claimed.

“Rebecca was devastated to find out Luke had been sleeping with her friend, but she agreed to stick it out because they are both Catholic,” said the source.

Also it would appear the depression was whether he should stay with his wife or be with his lover.

“After Olivia was born, she said having Luke at home was like looking after two babies because he was always curled up on the couch, going through an inner turmoil about what he should do.

“She told him if he didn’t want to be there then he should go. He looked at her and said he was leaving to be with (Price).”

Kennedy and Price are still in a relationship.

For further details see full article here.

Also previously I have written about how back stories are massaged most recently was The X Factor finalist’s Samantha Jade and Jason Owen’s which appear to have been edited to convey a different impression then the reality was. Expect this not to be the first or last of these back stories to fall over once they are fully scrutinised.

Auditions for next year’s The Voice are now open. Go to the official website.

Sick and tired of hearing people who happen to be in the public eye, complain about having their past dragged through the mud. It’s a given. If you don’t want people to know something, don’t say anything about it, especially on National television. The media are sharks, everyone knows it. All they want is a juicy story and they are ruthless in their pursuit of one. If you give them an inch they will take a mile, and Luke was stupid enough to do just that. I have no sympathy, he brought this on himself.

Luke needn’t worry anyway. In just a few short months the public will have forgotten his affair, his backstory, his music,… him. Just like they forget all the contestants on that show. What’s Karise Eden up to these days anyway?

Jules, I agree. Why are people so concerned with all this? He will disappear back into obscurity soon enough.

Yeah, and having bought the sob story, viewers/customers have every right to feel ripped off when it turns out to be fake.

This is all old news now but it’s very frustrating to read this thread. He said he had depression. I don’t recall him promising he’s never cheated on his wife. He was there for his talent. Pure and simple. What personal issues he’s had are none of our business and he in no way deceived the public…

No arguments from me, anon. I agree. It’s a family matter. Since when have musos been known for their immaculate privatelives anyway?
