Big Brother Australia – Some Contestants Revealed

A couple of this year’s Big Brother Australia contestants have been revealed and first up is Matt an ex-soldier. He does not to appear to be too different from previous contestants. Good looking with a six pack and also has a Southern Cross tattoo.

Also this article from the Sunshine Daily (thanks Andrea for sending it in) suggests he has modelling and acting aspirations. Each year they say they are going to weed out the people just in there for fame and each year they get through. Anyway let’s hope he can hold a conversation.

Also here is Tahan another good looking contestant who is both a city and country girl.

I am beginning to think the Big Brother twist is going to be someone over 35 entering the house.

Also this year for the first four weeks there will be a Saturday night show called Saturday Showdown which will be a games night. This will be hosted by Shelley Craft, and also Mike Goldman and Michael Beveridge will be involved. (Source: Daily Telegraph)

Big Brother kicks off on NINE next Monday 29 July at 7.00pm.

Just saw another ad which revealed a mother of three as one of the contestants. She wants to win the money for her kids. Can’t remember the name though sorry!

Tahan had a profile on StarNow.com.au, but it was deleted yesterday (they have been in lockdown since the weekend I think, so I’m unsure who deleted it). You can still view it here:

Just another model/actor. I’m hoping that they put some ‘real’ people in the house this year, not just those seeking media careers.

So far, so bad, two aspiring models.
Where are the real people, the fat, the ugly, the boring, the mums, the dads, the old, the normal?

If they choose people looking for careers in media, you won’t get real bahaviour but people playing to the camera; as Michael the Ginger Cockroach did constantly. Last year had a lot more of that than other seasons, Michael being the worst offender from day one.

Some of us from this blog could’ve applied! That would’ve been way more exciting!
On Gordy’s list I’d be the fat and the mum.. and maybe normal! :)

PS thanks Violet! – “I’m Tahan and I love Travelling and Making a Difference”…

Hope some of these contestants can actually hold a conversation and entertain us a bit better this year….

Southern Cross tattoos are so kitsch. Why gets stars tattooed on you when you’ve got a personality like a black hole?

The Saturday night games concept sounds a little like the US version that I’m currently watching. They have huge challenges and games events where they get to play off for HoH (Head of House) and Power to Veto. HoH gets to put two people up for nomination and PTV gets to remove one person off nominations to be replaced by a runner up chosen by the weekly nominated MVP. MVP is chosen by the outside world and puts up a third nominee for the week. I’d Love to see the Australian version go down this route. It makes for very interesting viewing.

Tuffdeck, that sounds like it could work here if only they have the guts to try something different.
The contestants that we have glimpsed so far could be okay for all we know, but I’m so over these types and look forward to ordinary people of average looks.
I’d be the same as you Izobel in that list!

a southern cross tattoo, you say……. vomit.

i seriously wish they’d cast people for their personalities and not their looks. the lot last year were so damn boring.

I just read elsewhere that there is a 41 year old mother of three been announced called Sharon.

12 daisy { 07.24.13 at 2:54 pm }

And 41 is probably the OLD person.

13 Andrea { 07.24.13 at 2:59 pm }

My daughter applied for it Daisy, she got through to the second round, obviously she wasn’t tall enough or skinny enough!

Can’t bear the thought of Shelley Craft or Michael hosting the games night. Just get Layla instead and Mike Goldman.

Tuffdeck, I really like the sound of what you were talking about. I don’t think Australia would be brave enough to try something like that. It would really shake things up though, that’s what we need, especially if all the of the house mates are going to be more of the same old, probably with the exception of one or two.
Thanks for the link Andrea, good read and well written, by your daughter I noticed.

Yes Andrea, I remember the photo of her in it too.
It was brave of her to give it a go.

Thanks Daisy, I’m not sure if I would want her in or not but she said auditioning for it was a very interesting experience and she enjoyed it, lined up all day to try out. She saw people there of all ages.
Gabby, did you watch ANTM last night?

17 Gabby { 07.24.13 at 5:12 pm }

Hi Andrea, I have taped it but not watched yet. Will do so tonight. Was it a good one? Bring on BB, then we won’t have enough hours in the day. Has anyone heard if they are going to have BB up late, or if it will be live streamed? I hope it’s yes to both.

18 Stacey { 07.24.13 at 10:33 pm }

Not Shelley Craft! They need a sassier host then that! Layla couldve done it or that dark haired girl that used to host the Xtra Factor. Oh well at least we got the games back.

19 Ashlee { 07.24.13 at 10:34 pm }

Looking forward to the new series but I do hope we see some older, not so good looking people who don’t want to be models. Good to see a girl from Darwin though. I believe her family are quite well known up here, we use her grandmothers travel agency at work.

So is this for real or is it a trick? They’ve never revealed contestants early before, you never got to see them until the launch night. It was always top secret.

I like the idea of the Saturday night games, sounds similar to the Friday night games they used to have. Don’t mind Shelley, but hate the thought of Michael from last year. Yuk. Couldn’t they have found anybody else? I wonder if they’ll have the rewards room again too for the winner.
