Big Brother Australia – An Older Contestant Announced
Sharon a 41 year old mother of three is entering the house and it looks like it will give her a welcome break from her young kids.
What I like about this contestant is that she does not appear to be seeking a media/entertainment career post the show all she wants is the cash.
Also the crew is getting the Big Brother house ready with The Age journalist, Nathan Oliveri writing about being in the house for 24 hours. It’s a good article.
He said that it was very easy and quick to forget about the cameras and microphone.
The producers also told him he would not make a great contestant.
Reality television doesn’t smile kindly on the introverted, silent types … or as executive producer Chris Blackburn frankly remarks after I spend 24 hours in the Big Brother house: ”Mate, you’d only have been good for pensive cutaways.”
Also it was interesting how they decide what we see:
At the apex sits series director Mark Adamson, now in his eighth year, who talks me through the daily filtering process. Layers upon layers of producers assess every scene across the day, bestowing a rating of one to five stars. The so-called ”hot scenes” make their way up the chain, double and triple-checked, until they reach the daily show producers, who weave a narrative thread through the scenes and represent the temperature of the house. Voice-overs are penned and a show is born.
Hopefully they won’t be censoring it as the did in the current season in the US, which created a media storm when some of the contestants racist and homophobic comments were not being aired. The contestants were getting a different edit, and it was only that it was picked up on the live web stream.
After the media out cry some other footage was shown. Interesting the name of the girl saying most of the stuff is Aaryn. See below.
