Cast Of Real Housewives Of Melbourne Announced

It is official the Real Housewives franchise is in Melbourne. The show which will follow the format of the US series will follow six women.

Hopefully the producers will have told the girls that if they want a lot of screen time they will need to create some drama. In the US series some of the cast have been sacked after one season because they are too dull.

The cast has now been announced and one is a professional psychic. Will be interesting to see if she actually predicts anything.

The cast from the Herald Sun is:

ANDREA MOSS:  A former TV journalist who now runs the Liberty Belle skin care and plastic surgery clinic with her husband Dr Chris Moss.

GINA LIANO: Well known Melbourne barrister who is the sister of fashion designers Bettina and Teresa Liano.

CHYKA KEEBAUGH: Co-founder of the very successful Big Group catering company with her husband Bruce.

JANET ROACH: Well known in Melbourne, Roach works as a property developer.

LYDIA SCHIAVELLO: Studying to be a interior designer.

JACKIE GILLIES: Works as a professional psychic. The wife of Silverchair member Ben Gillies. Has recently moved from Sydney.

It will air on Foxtel in 2014.

Somehow I don’t think these women will be no holds barred like the U.S. Housewives. As with any reality show in Australia they all seem to hold back, for fear of us seeing their true selves. No doubt these women will be wanting to further their careers in one way or another through this show.
I will still watch it though, hoping for a great show.

Professional psychic, hmmm? So much for “real”.

I predict that she’ll be full of hot air.

I agree with Gabby. Not expecting a lot of drama or interesting ‘storylines’. Good luck to producers to edit something out of it! I also find that in Australia reality ‘stars’ try to be ‘interesting’ personalities rather than being themselves. It usually comes across very fake and ‘try hard’. Also given they are all professional women, except the ‘professional psychic’ :-), they will definitely be very focused on their image.

VioletsRBlue, loved your bit about the professional women, except the ‘professional psychic’. I would love to see them having a down and out brawl like the New Jersey or New York Housewives, now that would make for good viewing.

Yes Gabby, that would be good but unfortunately quite unlikely. The ‘real housewives’ will be as ‘real’ as our “reality” TV in general! I find most of the contenstants on reality shows made in states or UK somewhat less restrained and much more expressive.

I know, what is it about us Aussies that for the most part always makes us hold back? Is it a good or a bad thing?
