Masterchef – The Office Challenge

Most women would be happy if Rishi and Lynton rocked up to their lunch place delivering food however this episode was one of the less entertaining team challenges for the viewer at home.

If I want to see people running around lost, I will watch The Amazing Race or The Mole.

Emma was the captain of the red team and she had Samira, Daniel and Lucy and they had to cook a Chinese menu. Daniel’s cooking clearly had hit its peak as he forgot to cook his sauce for his beef and black bean sauce. Once he did the sauce he admitted it lacked flavour.

Lucy was also struggling as she decided to make the labour intensive dumplings.

The blue team headed by Christina had Kelty, Rishi and Lynton and they had to cook Mexican. They made chicken mole tacos, prawns and lamb.

The teams had to take “phone orders” then deliver to the local officers. Samira did not add up the second order properly so it meant they did not have enough to deliver when they realised the mistake.

Emma started sobbing when she realised the short fall. She cried on Gary’s shoulder saying people will go hungry. Oh really they are in Melbourne CBD they can go buy something it is not like they are in some refugee camp in Africa.

I think the crying was more about that she was about to lose and be in an elimination challenge. Chances of her using her immunity pin will be high.

i wouldn’t say ben and andy have had a falling out. i think andy’s just “busy” at the moment with his career/new girlfriend and is occupied with those things. i think ben really thought they’d have a TV show though. rip the mexican dream.

First posting. Like most of you not enjoying this season. This last elimination challenge left me “speechless” and not wanting to watch anymore. Of course, Samira chose Africa and cooked something very familiar. They generally have them blindly choose the cooking regions and/or main ingredient so why not do the same with the first challenge. As for the second challenge, I could not believe what Lucy and Daniel came up with for North American food. A “Washington Mess”….it was just a mess and bagels, cream cheese and lox with sweet potatoes…yuck. There were so many other choices it was shocking that this is what they presented to the judges. They both should have been eliminated (and I like Lucy but this was not good cooking). Of course, would have been fine if Emma had not used her pin and been eliminated or if Samira had never come back or been eliminated after returning. Very disappointing season. With each episode the program just seems to go downhill even more.

And now we have proof why this season has been all team challenges and reproducing recipes. They don’t have any original ideas about food. How the hell will any of this lot come up with enough original recipes to get a book together.
As for the race around Melbourne, it certainly didn’t take place at lunchtime. I know the area around flagstaff and it has a lot more people in the streets around lunchtime. Also some of streets they showed them going didn’t make sense.
Slater and Gordon is on La Trobe street and then it looked like they went along William Street. All the law courts are along William Street and that is really busy. It did not look like there many people in the street. And there should have been a hell of a lot of people from all the offices and the law courts!!!!!

I was thinking about feeling sad for Emma and her bangs after Amina’s evil twin sister stuffed the calculating up (wtf, honestly, how can you mess up such an easy thing. Even I can at least count to 100!). The most annoying thing was then her laughing into interview… “Gnhihihi, I stuffed up”. Very funny. Dumb beeotch what was I thought at that moment. I would gave her an abacus as a good-bye present.

I liked that the blue team actually changed the presentation of their taco and it looked directly so much more appetizing. Good thinking of the team even though the 3 stooges didn’t acknowledge it much.

Overall the episode was awful and stupid. Seems like if the contestants can’t cook, let’s kick them out while suffering a heart attack…

Looking forward to the elimination challenge now while enjoying my dinner (hopefully the episode doesn’t spoil it!).

Cringe worthy of a nothing much happening in masterchef of a show. Past episodes of the top 10 saw contestants busting their guts in restaurants for ‘proper’ team challenges.

Glad Lucy beat Daniel, but I think much less of her after this episode: first, choosing southeast Asia when she knows squat about the cuisine and, second, “Washington” mess??!! At least Daniel chose something he associated with the USA, though all he did was recycle George’s precious bagel treatment and–travesty!–pair sweet potatoes with smoked salmon. Why didn’t one of the ninnies make a great hamburger, for crying out loud? Or a perfect strawberry shortcake?

As for Samira, boy did I laugh when she said that she was going to stick to her kind of food. When does she cook anything but given the chance? The only time she strays not only from the style of food to which she’s accustomed but from the specific dishes she’s made before is when she’s required to.

Also funny was when she claimed she’s kept calm since her return. Remember the desert, Samira? Remember the camel and the shrieks and the tent and the tears? I guess not.

Finally, what was with the “Top seven–finally! Finally!”? Finally what?

The only person who deserves to be in this show is Rishi, and he’d probably be a middle-of-the-road contestant in just about any previous season.

Sarah #57 – “a great hamburger” and that’s exactly what I thought. Others were fried chicken or ribs.

I glimpsed the ep and thought, “Here we go. Back to take-away”

It was so boring, will be glad when its over.
The contestants just don’t seem to have any imagination as to what to cook, they should be far better than this towards the end of the competition.
How Emma got this far is a mystery.

I was pissed when Samira questioned Lucy choosing the Asian continent… Samira say that was what had got them into elimination, so why would she choose it.

Wrong Samira – what got you into elimination was errors in simple arithmetic (from Africia and the Middle East!), and Emma’s impersonation of Michael Clarke

Gotta agree that Rishi is the only one of the remaining Top 7 who comes anywhere near the standard of previous winners and runners-up(Julie, Poh, Adam, Callum etc).
At least Daniel tried to be creative and stretch himself, whereas Lucy puts some cream and a few bits of fruit in a glass, but it is supposedly more creative than what Daniel came up with.
Give me a break!
The judging standards this year are wildly inconsistent – Vern gets sent home for being creative, Lucy stays because she was more creative?
This is the worst year of Masterchef Australia by far.

Why did Samira get to choose for them? And why she picked N.America? Have we seen her cooking N.American food by any chance? This also warrants a question what are N. American cuisines btw. Is it the one we buy from Mc Donalds?, Meatloaf ? I heard of something called as Jambalaya. Maybe there were some options but I am sure Samira would’ve struggled or even out of the competition if she was given N.American food to cook. How could she choose such a thing for others? It is interesting that Lucy whispered ‘Be Nice” It seems Samira does have a reputation amongst Masterchef contestants. lol

14 Rosie { 08.15.13 at 10:44 am }

Why didn’t either of them do Mexican?!
Oh, that’s right. Daniel couldn’t have chosen Mexican because the poor pet thinks Mexico is in South America…

15 Anna { 08.15.13 at 11:02 am }

Cheese Cake / Burgers / Ribs / Mac n cheese / Crispy fried chicken just at the top of my head

Samira NEEDS to kicked out. Tired of her attitude and a sense of entitlement

She would have struggled last night. Every dish she cooks she falls on her background. YAWN !! BORING!!

Not seen any creativity

Editing stuffed up as always. Young Dan is out, but tonight we are seeing him in Paris. Guess they had a few days off between Doobuy and Melbourne.

16 Also a Former Contestant { 08.15.13 at 4:57 pm }

Pissed myself laughing at Emma crying because people were going to go hungry – they’ll be right I’m sure, you’re in Melbourne not f*cking Africa!

And Dan proved how terrible his geography is – Mexico IS in North America, not the south like he thought, so could have cooked a Mexican dish and stayed in! Absolute flipping moron.

17 daisy { 08.15.13 at 5:25 pm }

Reality Sucks we did the US for one of our themes for family dinner. It was my least favourite night. Corn dogs, etc.

18 Sarah { 08.15.13 at 9:54 pm }

But what about clam chowder and lobster rolls? They’re pretty tasty.
