The Voice Kids Coming To NINE Next Year

Well the old television adage of if you are onto a ratings winner squeeze it for all it is worth is in practice at NINE with news they have commissioned The Voice Kids for 2014.

This will add another talent reality television show to all the ones already on our screens. What will be interesting is how they handle the blind audition process and the battle rounds with these youngsters.

The series will showcase Australian children aged between 8-14 years of age. The Dutch have been successful with their junior showing of this show so NINE will be confident it will bring in the ratings.

No news on who will be the superstar coaches or the host.

People who would be good to see in the swinging chairs would be Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy, Ben Lee, Ricki-Lee, Erika Heynatz or Samantha Jade.

Alice Zavslevky could be a good host as she is showing she is good with kids and the camera on Kitchen Whiz currently on GO, but it is a big step up and would be a risky choice for NINE. Another good choice would be Luke and Wyatt who are really popular on Nick Jr.  Also NINE stablemate David Campbell would be a good fit as well.

Applicants for The Voice Kids must be aged between 8 and 14 on January 1, 2014. To register, go to www.thevoice.com.au.

The Voice Kids is a co-production between Shine Australia and Talpa productions for the Nine Network. It will be broadcast in 2014.

The parents of these little horrors should be shot.

I can think of a positive side to this. Now there will be no need for parents to poke their chn onto the adult talent shows.
But they probably still will.

Agree Daisy – keeping the kids off the adult talent shows is a great idea, but raise the upper age limit to 16. Having a dedicated show for kids whose parents want them in talent quests means I can avoid them all together.

Think I will give this one a miss, remember what happened to “Young Talent Time”.
Won’t work.

“My Kid’s A Star”. One of the lamest and short lived reality shows ever.

What slays them in Holland …might not work here.

“My Kid’s a Star” was even worse than “Young Talent Time”, still, I suppose it gave Danny Bonaduce a bit of money for a while.

I dislike this idea very very very very much
It will prob still rate ok but I hope it fails to teach the TV networks to not mess around with kid’s egos (eg junior masterchef)

I’m probably in the minority here but I cringe at the sound of child / pre-pubescent singing voices. And there’s something oddly disturbing about a child singing adult songs about love and heartbreak. No, just no.

This is a platform for children to perform and discover if this is a career they may want to be in for their future. Kids play sport at a competitive level at a young age, why not music aswell. Good luck to all the talented young artists who are ready to perform (just like young athletes get their opportunities).
