Big Brother Australia – Election Time

The housemates were shocked to hear there was an election going on, however considering they were all voting by postal vote who signed the postal vote forms for them which only came out after the election was announced?

Clearly Mikkayla does not “give a Gonski” and I was surprised that as a school teacher she was so pro-liberal. Any teacher’s voting for her this week may not be quite so enthusiastic to pick up the phone. Also more surprising that she called Tony Abbott “a brilliant man”. Sure vote for the coalition but not sure about the brilliant adjective.

But props to Mikkayla for being so vocal about who she was going to vote for and in fact it was a lost opportunity for the housemates to have a political discussion but the viewer only saw a few moments of it. KRudd, Tony Abbott, and Christine Milne were piped in to give a “you should vote for me spiel”. What was interesting was how emotional Ben and Tully were when the Prime Minister mention marriage equality. Christine Milne was clever and gave a shout out to Mr Clooney.

There has been some furore about Tony Abbott saying in the camera piece that he did not have bad looking daughters personally don’t know what all the fuss was about, but it was interesting he did not say anything about any policy issue.

But why did they give Clive Palmer any air time is he really going to get a significant vote and by significant I mean more than 5 per cent. Was it because he is a Queenslander and the BB house is in Queensland. Pity they did not get Julian Assange piped in for the Ecuador Embassy to spruik for his quickly folding Wikileaks party.

If a political discussion breaks out on the comments today please be mindful of peoples view and that they may be different from your own. Also if you are voting for the Clive Palmer Party let me know why as I am genuinely curious.

Instead we had to put up with bad singing from the housemates due to the boy/girl band challenge.

Each gender had to record a song and the one with the most hits on it will mean they get to perform it on the live show. Jade and Mikkayla’s voices were OK. Tully’s was not but she seemed to think it was fabulous saying to the boys it only took me one take!

Tully was not happy that the boys were in a separate bedroom for the challenge as she lost all her mates for a couple of days. Drew was just as pathetic and ran into her bed at 4.30am waking up a few people to have a snuggle, and have a “you smell delicious conversation” before running out again.

Big Brother Confidential was slightly dull with us learning Mikkayla liked cooking, Jade bed hopping and Heidi bitching.

Tuffdeck, you beauty, that is the best gossip we have had on any of the contestants.
While it’s not very nice, she deserves it. She must know you can’t treat your partner like this and expect to get away with it. I know if I had done that to my partner I wouldn’t have expected him to be waiting for me when I left the house.
What a silly girl, I hope she thinks this silly flirting and carrying on with Drew has all been worth it.
I don’t know how BB will handle this. After all she is an adult and responsible for her own actions.
Thanks again T’deck.

2 daisy { 09.05.13 at 10:27 pm }

It looks like Ben is going to be the fall guy because the hms are too scared of the bullies.
Mikk would much rather have put Ed or Matt but she was scared of them and their power. She wouldn’t be scared if they weren’t bullies.

And how bad was Tully over the golf. She is such a dick.

3 Lizzie { 09.05.13 at 10:30 pm }

Tuffdeck and Gabby, I’m getting the feeling that when Tully does leave she may not make it to the eviction stage, if she is de-briefed immediately. We’ve seen how she reacts to trivial crap. Can’t imagine how she will cope with public humiliation. Duty of Care may play a part.

4 daisy { 09.05.13 at 10:35 pm }

uuurhh! Once again Tully thinks she is too too good to have to share a room with her list of inferiors. She is a disgusting snob.

5 Gabby { 09.05.13 at 10:38 pm }

Lizzie, if all what Tuff’d has said is right you could be spot on. Because if they did tell her before she got to the stage she would be in no fit state to go on live TV?
It’s hard to know what BB will do under these circumstances. Do they treat these breakup s like they are a marriage or just another casual hook up. I don’t know how long they were together.
Tully is such a fickle girl, she has brought this all on herself.

6 brain dead dave { 09.05.13 at 10:44 pm }

It’s going to be close between Heidi and Tully. This is an early market , though not from Sportsbet . Not advocating gambling on BB, this is just a guide.

Heidi 2.00
Tully 2.20
Tahan 5.50
Drew 7.00
Ben 17.00
Tim 26.00

Still waiting for this “mutiny” against Tim to materialise.

7 No Apologies { 09.05.13 at 10:46 pm }

Yep not surprised about the backlash from the gay and lesbian community. Will be hard to show her face on the streets of Newtown now. Speaking from experience, nobody likes a dishonest “fly-by lesbian” (for lack of a better term).

It wouldn’t have been as bad if she was upfront about her bisexuality in the first place. But no, her intro video was all, ‘yay me for being a cool lesbian!’ and her crying about marriage equality when she’s cheating with a guy? Yeah not cool. Then came the talk about her being confused and that idiotic comment, ‘when I’m with a girl I’m a lesbian, when I’m with a guy, I’m bisexual…’. Idiot. It doesn’t work like that.

Treating homosexuality like it’s the trendy flavour of the month; I say the Tully backlash is justified.

8 daisy { 09.05.13 at 10:46 pm }

Tully was a black widow tonight egging Jade on to trust her not to tell. She even said to Jade, “Give me some credit”, and then she went immediately and blabbed.
Saying you have got a secret and dropping clues until it’s all out there: is she kidding that she didn’t tell?
“Ooooh no I promised I wouldn’t tell” Well don’t tell them you have a secret.
If she has fans who actually like her they must be really young because that girl is one witch. And she just things she is so much better thn everyone else. In her own mind.

9 Lizzie { 09.05.13 at 10:48 pm }

Agree entirely Gabby. Was thinking mainly of the live audience who may not get to see a live eviction interview with Sonia!

10 daisy { 09.05.13 at 10:53 pm }

I thought Mikk should have taken Ben in the suite to compensate for the twist.

Again I really don’t like that Ben has to be the fall guy because the hms are scared of Tully and the jocks.

These goys seem tobe the most treacherous group of hms there have ever been. Quite a few of them are scorpions. There is a lot of back stabbing going on.

11 daisy { 09.05.13 at 10:56 pm }

What these people who keep putting Ben up because they are scaredof Matt, Ed and Tully is that they will be stuck in there with them later on and then what?

12 Gabby { 09.05.13 at 11:07 pm }

Tanks Bdd for a look at the first betting. Tully and Heidi are definitely in the right positions, either or but preferably the other way around.
Lizzie, you have a point, I forgot all about the audience missing out if Terrible Tully refuses to go on stage, then again she is such an exhibitionist, she would want her five minutes of fame, she would more than likely blub her way through it but I can’t see her missing out on it, the more I think of the type of person she is.
Yep, Ben certainly got the raw end of the deal tonight Daisy, I am really peed off for him. Mikayla should have stood up to the bullies. Within hours they were out the back bad mouthing her, after she had just saved them. I am so angry she did that to Ben and not shit for brains Ed, that nominates her every single week.

13 Sandii { 09.05.13 at 11:09 pm }

I haven’t watched tonight’s ep yet but from what I understand mikkayla felt too intimidated by the lynch mob (albeit subliminally ) that she had to sacrifice one of her own. Well that is shit!

14 Lizzie { 09.05.13 at 11:10 pm }

Scorpions, black widow. Hey Daisy send in the pest controllers aka intruders.

15 daisy { 09.05.13 at 11:38 pm }

I think sports bet will be right and the heifer will go, but I would prefer it to be the selfish, spoilt brat Tully.

I just am amazed at how blatantly elititst she is, turning her nose up at most of the other hms. Sure some of them are a bit painful but she thinks she is sooooo much better than everyone.

16 Evan { 09.05.13 at 11:45 pm }

A double eviction next week, and both Tully and Heidi going home, would be perfect for me.
Mikayla and a few others seem to have this perception that Ed and Matt are wildly popular on the outside, so they can not be seen to offend them – hence why Ben is the convenient fall guy.
I reckon that the more Drew lets Tully drag him around like a soft toy, the more his popularity ratings go down.
Oh well, save Tim and Ben, the other 4 can all go home.

17 Evan { 09.05.13 at 11:48 pm }

Speaking of Ben, he is obviously being bullied in the house, or being made into a figure of ridicule.
One example today was Drew or Matt(I forget which one) treating Ben like he was a set of weights and lifting him up.
I am so over the meatheads, and Tim really is no better too(in that respect)
Does Ben have any friends in there, other than Jade & the sugar sisters?

18 Tuffdeck { 09.05.13 at 11:55 pm }

Agree lizzie with the duty of care part. I was thinking the same kind of thing. That’s why I was wondering if she will get some kind of briefing. Because what is sonia going to say when Tully asks where Tahlia is?

19 Lizzie { 09.06.13 at 12:06 am }

I’m with you there Evan. Will save Tim and Ben but I don’t give a stuff about the rest. Did I hear Tully say to Drew tonight “I love my girlfriend”? I’m sure I heard a collective groan in my neighbouhood, even the dogs started barking. Blo*dy crackpot.

20 daisy { 09.06.13 at 12:07 am }

But surely Tully wouldn’t expect Tahlia to be waiting happily with open arms given all her Drew smooching.

21 daisy { 09.06.13 at 12:11 am }

Evan, a double removing Heidi and Tully in one blow would be sweet.

And the icing on the cake would be if they had to share the stage because Tully would prefer the limelight.
Do you think Tully’s ‘modelling’ tonight was because she is nominated and trying to get camera time.

22 Carole { 09.06.13 at 6:58 am }

Yeah, Lizzie she did say that about loving her girlfriend. I thought, ha ha not your girlfriend any more. Yeah from what I’ve heard, they get a debrief about what the public think of them and what the press have said about them. And I assume she would be told about her girlfriend breaking up with her. And of course, now with social media it is a lot worse for the unpopular ones. And I think they tell them about what news has been happening in the world too.

Someone said in another thread about them not being told about the 9/11 attacks, but that wasn’t our Big Brother. That was in the US, our Big Brother back then ended in July, so they would not have been in the house at the time of the attacks.

23 Chrissie { 09.06.13 at 7:45 am }

What a clever decision for Mik to put Ben up. She couldn’t risk any of her friendships, nor upset the power players Ed or Matt. She hopes they will reward her decision in the noms room (probably wont tho, as they have been biatching about her since, nasty boys)! Also she has formed quite a bond with Jade so I guess that’s another reason she didn’t put Ed up.

I can totally understand not putting the boys up to avoid more drama, like the way Tully treated her, which was absolutely disgraceful. Talk about being a sore loser! How rude and immature. She really treats Mik awfully, and has done since the start. It’s disgusting. I don’t mind they don’t get along, but you don’t have to be so rude and mean.

Unlike Ben who was so gracious and understanding being put up for eviction yet again. What a class act. Just hope it isn’t his downfall, as now is seen as being too understanding and an easy target!

And Tim Tim Tim. On one hand with all his strategies he possibly isn’t really being himself, which history shows the voting public don’t like…but for some reason I am just loving how hard he is playing the game! Perhaps it’s his honesty in doing so, and doing so well! Respect!!

24 Amy { 09.06.13 at 8:31 am }

I’m just envisioning Tully’s eviction… Ex GF slapping her on stage etc. In a way, a public show of anger/hurt could be justified considering Tully has (very) publicly humiliated her for the past month or so.

*I do not condone violence

25 Colleen { 09.06.13 at 9:05 am }

I think we might be disappointed when Tully gets evicted they won’t tell her until after the show and Sonia will be sweet as pie and only show good things. It is only 20 minutes or so on stage. They will probably talk about Drew and ask her what she was thinking and that will be all.
Usually they only humiliate them over in-house things like Glen BB05.

26 MT { 09.06.13 at 9:26 am }

I still have to wonder if this is all a setup on Tully’s part.
Mikkayla took the cowards way out with Ben and she should have taken him to reward, picking Heidi was just silly and made her look desperate.

27 daisy { 09.06.13 at 9:36 am }

They will go easy on Tully when she is evicted. They always do. Except Gretel used to stick it to them sometimes.

28 Evan { 09.06.13 at 9:52 am }

I remember Gretel smacking down that Michael guy – he really was very rude on stage(you can find that clip on youtube).
Gretel did not suffer fools gladly, whereas I think that Sonia is told to be nice to everyone, regardless of what she might personally think of them. Hence Tully will get an easy time when she is evicted.
If the Centrebet odds are indicative of how things will go next Monday night, Ben will be quite safe(as will Tim too, of course).
It looks like Tully or Heidi will go, AND Drew is really not that safe either(told you all that the thing with Tully was hurting his popularity).
I can kinda understand Mikayla’s motives, from the point of view that the housemates perceive Ed & Matt to be popular on the outside, and so they think it is better to be in an alliance with the meatheads.
But, they are dead wrong – Ed almost got evicted last week, Matt is not that popular either.
Ben just needs to stay out of the drama, and keep doing what he is doing….by being completely natural and quirky, he will guarantee himself a final 3 slot, although I reckon Tim will ultimately win.
Drew/Tully? I am over it, to the point that I change the channel or Fastforward when they are on. Drew looks like a fool

29 Evan { 09.06.13 at 9:54 am }

And where is the much threatened war against Tim that Tully declared? I guess she is too busy spooning with Drew LOL

30 Lizzie { 09.06.13 at 9:56 am }

MT would she really be that smart or strategic? I know her current job is “Social Media Strategist”. It’s fact that job titles can be over-inflated and not always a true indication of the job tasks. Does anyone know what her qualifications are to enable her to call herself a strategist?

31 daisy { 09.06.13 at 10:01 am }

Personally I think Mikk was worried about the in-house back lash and the control that Ed, Matt, Tully and Heidi have been weilding over the whole group.
She even said well look how Tully behaved. She knows tthey would have really gone down on her if she had taken down one of the puppet masters.

32 daisy { 09.06.13 at 10:18 am }

It was interesting that Tim said, “It’s funny that they get mad when M is saved in the twist when she probably would get saved by the viewers”. He’s insightful about people.

Anyway M’s win last night was a bit delicious.

It’s hard because there are a few that I am busting to see out, mainly Heidi and Tully, but there would have been pleasure in seeing the faces if Matt or Ed went this week (I know they aren’t up). Could you imagine their shock? It would knock them off their high perches.

I don’t think that all of them assume Ed and Matt would be popular on the outside. I think Mikk, Tim and Ben might be familiar with previous seasons and know how viewers might vote. I think some of them, although they would like to win, have come in to raise their profile and kick start careers. They don’t seem to have gotten into the frame of mind of the voting public the way that Tim, M, Ben and to a degree Tahan have.

33 MT { 09.06.13 at 8:00 pm }

Lizzie you’re right, Tully isn’t smart enough…or is she???

I wonder if the voters would be interested in causing a shake up and allow Drew to be evicted. That would throw Tully and Jade and cause new alliances to be made.

I think Gretel should come back and do the interviews. Sonia can just do the normal shows. She is too blah

34 daisy { 09.06.13 at 8:55 pm }

I don’t mind Sonia but she may have been told to play safe. Gretel went for the jugular and you got a much better, truer interview.
I doubt if it’s Sonia’s decision to go easy. Even the play back video reviews have been watered down.
