Big Brother – Well Ed Won’t Be The Bachelor

If Ed’s strategy was to look like Prince Charming by going on a date with Jade it did not work.

It was cringeworthy to watch and I am not talking about the Surly interference. Neither of them make interesting conversation. Jade just sits there smiling saying “That’s so cute”. This included him licking his plate and telling her she smelled like his grandmother.

Surly had made him do those two things. He also made him give Jade is special lucky rock in the house which she properly took as a promise present.

Sure you have been trapped in a house for 10 weeks with no news of the outside world and chatting must become difficult. But should you really be taking someone out on a date if you need to ask the other housemates what you should talk about.

His chances of being The Bachelor – Season Two have just plummeted his conversational skills are worse the Tim Robards.

Put Tim and Boogs in the same situation and neither of them would draw breath.

Also was Ed joking when he said he would make a good James Bond? Which immediately would have had Jade fantasising about being a Bond girl.

Tim nailed it when he said Jade and Ed always want to appear nice. This was the scenario over the cappuccino’s in the kitchen hatch in the Rock-Paper-Scissors challenge. In the end everyone decided they did not want to knock the other people out of the kitchen to get the coffees because it would look bad for them. In the end it was Jade, Ed and Mikkayla who got to drink the coffees.

Jade was loving this task as again she was tethered to Ed. She was saying to him it takes a long time for him to say I love you to his girlfriends, the last time was nine months. Ed did look like he wanted to get away.

Mikkayla nine lives continued when she won the showdown. This meant she gets the nomination superpower which is like having immunity. She also got to take someone into the Presidential Suite. She chose Boogs who earlier in the diary room she thought was crass. But clearly she is wanting to bond prior to nominations so she does not receive points off her.

Boogs is not stupid and said she knew Mikkayla did not like her. Boogs also said Jade was very quite, then Tahan and her talked about Jade’s insecurities.

However Tahan was insecure when Boogs was going into the Presidential Suite thinking she might lose her one and only girlfriend in the house.

Maddy was chatting a lot to Drew so maybe she is crushing on him. He told her he is the eternal boyfriend, meaning he is nearly always hooked up. Apparently he had a girlfriend prior to the show but she was going away for three months and he told her they should have a break. He did not tell her he was going on Big Brother and lo and behold he turned up in the house. He also told Mikkayla he was please that when he was crushing on Jade that she was not crushing back.

It could get very interesting indeed if Maddy and Drew get close in the house.

Techhater = most of them in the house were not as they portrayed in their profiles eg Tim, Nathan, etc. However I agree with you he should have owned it and said yeah I did a gig but that was year’s ago.

RR thanks, for a while there I thought I was talking to myself.

I hope your young one is feeling better. Nothing worse than having a sick child no watter how old they are.

All right, time to throw another conspiracy theory out there – the obvious answer is that Ben’s fanbase got complacent, but try this one…

A lot of people have suggested that Ed’s family is throwing a fortune at this. This assumes that the total number of votes are small enough to be manipulated by a smallish number of committed individuals. If that is true (which I have no idea about, but presumably the information can be found somewhere), the theory seems flawed because the prizemoney isn’t enough to justify spending thousands upon thousands of dollars every week.

But what if the voting is manipulated by someone with a shorter term goal? As per Deano’s post a long way above, the betting agencies had Ben at $26 to be evicted. That is an enormous price in a field of 5, especially if you know roughly how many votes are cast each week. Although the corporate bookies are pretty gun-shy (ie they would certainly not take a single bet of $10000-plus on a particular person), there are a number of betting agencies with BB markets and it would be possible to have small bets totalling a few thousand on without setting off any red flags – leaving plenty of money to vote thousands of times and still make a sure profit.

Like I said at the start though, it’s probably the obvious – Ben’s fans, believing him to have been anointed as one of the final two (with Tim), simply took their eyes off the ball this week.

Daisy @145 Don’t like those duck-lips/trout-pouts!

5 Deano { 10.09.13 at 11:13 pm }

I love a conspiracy theory too Scuba. Indian bookmakers fix results. Whose to say it isn’t associated with gambling and fixed

6 Reality Raver { 10.09.13 at 11:14 pm }

Scuba – now THAT is an interesting theory. I am not sure how these betting things work, but if someone bet big wouldn’t the price drop?

7 daisy { 10.09.13 at 11:14 pm }

No trout pout on Mila, Lizzie.
Hate those giant-leaping-off-your-face lips too.

8 daisy { 10.09.13 at 11:17 pm }

Peraps Mr Ed’s family have hired their own call centre in India.

9 Deano { 10.09.13 at 11:17 pm }

Have bookmakers run a book on bb in previous years? I doubt they did in the early seasons

10 Lizzie { 10.09.13 at 11:19 pm }

Daisy – off topic, Taylor has lips like Surly! And Dollar Bill has found out Wyatt is his son.

11 Scuba { 10.09.13 at 11:20 pm }

RR, you’d have to work out (somehow) what dollar value each agency would take as a bet, and then co-ordinate your bets with each agency at the same time (because they compare notes). It used to happen in the bookmaker rings at horse meetings – most famously (recently) by Tony Mokbel.

#159~Yes , they have ~ not sure if it was every year, Deano and there was a betting scandal in 2007 I think when someone connected to the show allegedly placed some big bets on a housemate in the hours leading up to an eviction..

13 daisy { 10.09.13 at 11:24 pm }

Thanks Lizzie. Thanks for thinking of me. And how did you know I was thinking of Taylor when you said trout pout? Ha ha.

I would love to know how many votes are actually being cast, it stands to reason that it could potentially be manipulated by someone in the know… I do have a feeling that the show probably doesn’t attract an insanely high number of votes on any given week. The percentages have been known to change quite a bit between when they’re first shown on eviction nights and when they reveal the line up.

16 Gabby { 10.09.13 at 11:34 pm }

Miss Mars, love you but can’t you see your fighting a losing battle.
I’d love to be proven wrong.
Along with the other commenters that wish Ben well, so do I.

17 brain dead dave { 10.09.13 at 11:41 pm }

That’s the one,Scuba. Thanks .

I heard that Sportsbet only take relatively small bets on BB and Centrebet will take more but as always don’t advocate betting on BB.

Tonight really was shock result. Ben’s been favourite to win BB nearly every week.

Ed should buy Surly a beer for getting him that date as it got him a pretty kind edit last night.

18 Deano { 10.09.13 at 11:42 pm }

Thanks for link scuba & BDD for comments
In the USA, that would be “insider trading” and justice dept would charge with an offence.

19 Scuba { 10.09.13 at 11:53 pm }

BDD, that’s one of the problems with my conspiracy theory – I can’t imagine that the betting agencies hold much on BB and even bets of a few hundred dollars might set off some red flags. Not advocating gambling either (I’ll leave that to Tom Waterhouse and co!)

20 Pam { 10.10.13 at 12:19 am }

Thanks Gabby for you support the other night. I also wish Ben well in the future.

Haha, don’t I know it Gabby. Call me tenacious :p.

It can be even plaingreenloans wider.
The plaingreenloans program applies to loans held for at least 12 months.
