The X Factor Australia – The Three Finalists Are…..

Dami Im was the first person to make it through to The X Factor grand final but was surprising that Jai Waetford was the second.

He mangled his lyrics on the performance show so maybe he got the sympathy vote. It was then a sing off between Taylor Henderson and Third D3GREE. Natalie and Ronan voted for their own to go through to the final, Dani voted for Third D3GREE and Redfoo after  gibbering for five minutes sent it to deadlock. This meant Taylor Henderson is through to the finale with Third D3GREE out as he had the highest number of public votes.

Looks like my prediction that Ronan had the weakest performers of the lot was wrong as he now has two in the finale but to be honest it is an underwhelming line up. Dami must have it in the bag,

Dami should have it in the bag, but you never know with Australian voters. Just look at the racist comments on the Facebook page for XF!

Taylor improved a lot: He is the best boy. I hate Jai. His voice is going to change so much of the next few years. Last night he got the sympathy votes.
Dami should win

Jai in the GF is a joke.. Both his performances last night were so meh and who is going to buy a record of a 14 year old boy singing, sounding like a 14 year old boy. The young boy on AGT was a lot better from memory as his voice had character.

Will be interesting to see if Third D3gree stick together.

Dami really should win.

I cannot believe Jai ‘s made this far , let alone onto the show at all.

He sounds like a fart in a bucket.

Gosh no credibility in this show at all. It’s boring songs are boring performers are boring. I think only 3rd degree have a bit of oomph even if their singing is not that great sometimes. As for Jai what can one say. The age for this show needs to be raised. Who is really interested in a child of this age singing love songs? And he is not even good. But you do not have to be a great singer to make it. eg Madonna can’t sing to save herself!

The girls from 3rd degree should dump old mate like a bad smell. Watch it happen

Taylor will not have much of a career if he is an ass behind the scenes, no wonder he has not made it yet.

Eliza@3 Liberace would have.

@Joan – I’m so curious to know what the goss is about Taylor being ‘difficult.’ Danni eluded to it on Sunday night during her comments, but I can’t seem to find anything worth knowing online :( anyone else know???

They said more about it last night, clashing big time with his mentor, not sure what else will be revealed, probably nothing I am sure he will come third. Just like he did on AGT, maybe he can try The Voice next year.

Thanks :)

Interesting show last night. The only act to do really deliver on both of its songs on Sunday ended up in the bottom two (again), sung a survival song of not so long ago so well that it had its rival grooving along with it (again), then had Redfoo(l) show his utter dearth of hip credentials, lack of moral courage and/ or prove that knowledge of the musical industry is not hereditary by opting for a whiny rendition of a song sung SO much better wayyyy before any judge or contestant was even born.

What we have left is the Karaoke Queen (with her heart and soul so firmly mired in a MOR morass), and two whiny nasally boys with miniscule vocal ranges and all the get and go of a maggot in a Mortein factory. Regardless of who wins and gets the contract, the careers of all three will very rapidly end up in the cheapo special racks in Target and K-Mart. These are not stars in the making, it’s farce in the baking.

What we so ridiculously lost was the one band with any sort of contemporary relevance, any sort of edge, and by far and away, any semblance of charisma in the show. It was no coincidence that each of Third D3gree’s sing offs were among their best performances, as stripped of all theatrics & distractions (and their mentor’s often dodgy song choices) they upped and delivered their songs the way they liked them – in your face and full bore.

Having an x factor is about having far more than merely technical prowess. Dami has that in spades, but while she comes across as awwww shucks sweet she is as about as exciting and charismatic as watching paint dry (Taylor and the under aged kid are no worse, or better, in that order). It’s about having the sort of charisma and chutzpah that makes you want to watch despite yourself, that makes you actually interested in what that act is going to deliver next. That makes the hairs on your arms rise when they go off on stage.

Jacinta, Jordan & Kelebek had just that. They were fun, they were mercurial, they were dynamic, and by God, they were exciting. Their one major flaw is that the people who appreciated them are not so banal as to vote in a tele-poll. What the people who appreciated Third D3gree do do though, is actually buy the product. If they can overcome the initial difficulties of geography and stay together, the three of them are the only hope of this series to actually produce any act of significant and lasting musical relevance.

They’re being so left out simply showed that the X Factor is irrelevant. That it’s pandering to an audience hell bent on mediocrity. So Jai can forget his words, Dami can display the fact that her voice is only great when not compared to the Real Divas of days gone by, and Taylor can mumble his way through endless inane dirges and all will be forgiven by the kids who bothered to vote.

Last night, The X Factor became The Y Factor.

As in: Y would you bother to tune into this boring boring rubbish now that the one shining light has gone out?

Offler – I tend to agree.
