The Block – Two Series In 2014?

The Block has been good to NINE and it looks like two series of the show will be aired in 2014.

SMH is reporting The Block’s production company has bought a 1980’s office building at 121 – 127 High St, Prahan. Last season with The Block – Sky High where a run down motel was turned into up market apartments was great to watch as it was a different type of renovation then previously seen on the show.

This “block” will see commercial as well as residential in the build giving it another point of difference.

However this is not the only building bought by the production company, as earlier this year they also bought a warehouse in Albert Park.

TV Tonight has confirmed that The Block in Albert Park will still be proceeding even though there were rumours of development application issues which is creating delays.

Both of the properties look like they will be interesting conversions. There will be some criticisms from Sydney siders that this will mean three series in a row in Melbourne for The Block, however the Cress’s (the producer of the show) have just had a baby so there might be a reason they want to stay in their home town.

Which one will be the all-stars block?

Anthobuzz – you think there will be an all-stars? I don’t as the all-stars one did not rate as well as the other series. One great thing about reality TV is that people like “fresh” reality meat aka contestants to get to know. But you might be right.

Too much of a good thing gets tiring.
I think 9 are going to exhaust this show. Once a year is enough.
And they need to get it back to a show about renovating – not about challenges.
House Rules is sure to make a dent in TB’s ratings if it returns this year because it was ALL about renos.

The reason why All Stars didn’t rate as well is cos Dan & Dani and Josh & Jenna were on it. No one voted for them to be in it. We watched for Amity & Phil and the boys. Hardly anyone likes Dan & Dani or Josh & Jenna.
I’d love it if there were two shows on next year.

I much preferred House Rules to the block and I did not enjoy the all stars at all.
I think costs of purchasing these properties also has a lot to do with where a show is produced.
The up market apartment type show doesn’t engage me as much as an everyday 3-4 bedroom house that most of us live in. I want ideas I can use at affordable prices. I am also sick of grey on grey decor.

It’ll be twice as bad. Perhaps someone can design a water feature that’ll drown the cast.

At a pinch I’ll watch the reveal eps sand then ditch it completely when House Rules fires up.

I loved All Stars, but would have preferred not to see Josh n Jenna or Dan n Danni. And trust me, they were just as disagreeable in the flesh. It was not ad editing. Would live to see All Stars 2, but it would be our luck that they would bring Erin, Jake and his evil painting twin back

Should bring back eliminated contestants from previous series for a second chance block instead of giving contestants that have already won money a second go

The Block is a family loved television show which leaves people on the edge of their seats when the block couples are pumping out everything they have to meet the final room reveal. Not only are we exposed with a sophisticated and edgy style, the drama that the block series presents, brings us back for more of the Block, can’t wait for the fans vs favorites season!

If only rtv producers would just let the natural drama of life unfold, instead of making piss poor attempts at manufacturing it.

As Mark Twain said – “Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; Truth isn’t.”

The Block, 20 mins of content, mixed, re mixed, repeated, summarised and replayed over an hour. A producers dream. very little reno work shown, just more shopping and arguments…. very little actual onsite reno. Far too much dramatics for cheeseburger tv addicts. JUNK!! hurry up and cancel the show like big brother, its done.
