Charlotte Dawson has had a pretty topsy turvey week starting with her being hospitalised on Monday and ending with her management dropping her.

All of this was recorded on her social media sites.

News.com.au said it was a panic attack that may have been related to an exchange on Twitter something Charlotte later denied.

Tuesday: She had recovered and was at the Melbourne Cup. By the way the hat is a stand out.

My sister had a story book called “Charlotte’s Web” , it probably had a better ending than what we’re seeing.

Is that Louie The Fly she’s with at the races? Forgot the Aeroguard.

She said she doesn’t want to be in the media. Why post those photos on Twitter. Didn’t she has an alcohol problem and the other day at the fun raising she organised for her sis in law, she was photograph with a glass of wine. Hopefully she didn’t drink.

She does have a problem. Hope she concentrate on getting her health back rather having this ‘ look at me’ syndrome.

When you think something is wrong with someone, but you just can’t quite work out what it is, then it’s a personality disorder…

Nice IV in the back of the hand though – props to the nurse or doc (I’d actually say it’s been put in by a nurse because they’ve dated it – docs aren’t that pedantic (which I mean as a compliment to nurses))

Just looked at a few of the news.com.au links

I don’t think anyone wants Charlotte dead. I think her advocacy of mental health awareness is admirable. But I also think she is going about it the wrong way, and probably too publicly. I suspect she’s probably been told to de-escalate her involvement with twitter etc, but has chosen not to – both by her health team and by management. She’s on twitter at this very minute engaging with people – eventually someone will hit a nerve with her and she’ll be off again.

I suspect Chic has just reached the limits of what they are willing to tolerate. They may have been better sending a less detailed letter to her and just quietly trying to end the contract. I think it’s likely that they’ve realised how much energy they are expending, but because CD isn’t getting booked they aren’t getting paid.

Dr T. Ditto. It’s a worry.

I think all this stuff with Charlotte is getting very serious and very sad.

Dr T = Back in the day nurses were not allow to insert IV cannulas.

Georgie – Tend to agree. You hipe she has some close friends around her.

Aptly put Georgie. I was wondering how to say it.

FFS – I have no idea why she just doesn’t run one private account and one public account.

I think the pressure to keep looking good and to keep getting jobs is too much.

To go from hospital to the races and having to look great and polished and publically having a great time, while not drinking too much. Tough.

Some people shouldn’t be on social media. Charlotte is one of them. It’s not a bad thing. All things are good for all people.

CD, circa 2013: the ultimate gaspirational brand?

Because mental illness is a such a damn serious social issue, it’s hard not be perturbed by the fact that today’s self-obsessed celebrity fantasyland appears intent on classifying immature self-indulgence and being a utter dickhead as the newest forms of mental illness.

Every drunken lout footy player who gets totally shitfaced and breaks the law, defecates in a hotel lobby or bashes his girlfriend to a pulp now has some convenient excuse/backstory about troubled minds, backgrounds and/or addictions. Having sports stars or celebs as poster children or spokespeople on mental health issues does nothing other than trivialise the real impact of this problem throughout society.

Back to the ‘brand’ in question, for her own sake Charlotte should get off the social media and focus some clarity, energy and professionalism on her career rather than trying to present herself as a ‘victim’ or ‘anti-bullying crusader slash bully*’. She was bloody funny on Celeb Apprentice and has a clear niche in the Australian media that she could successfully occupy.
