Chris Badenoch And Julia Jenkins Restaurant Closes

The bad news for Chris Bandenoch and Julia Jenkin fans is their restaurant and beerhouse, Josie Bones is closing.

It has been a tough tweleve months as they have a $125,ooo tax debt, but the good news is they  are going to open up a microbrewery in the Inner North Melbourne.

Chris talks to Good Food:

“It’s no secret that it’s been a tough 12 months for us,” says Badenoch, adding that the pair will be “sad to close the doors here but we’re really excited at the same time; it’s enabled us to evolve the brewing side of things”. With a range of specialty beers, a big outdoor beer garden and a couple of American-style offset smoker BBQs, the casual space in an inner-north warehouse – the exact location is yet to be divulged –  will focus on “a simple food and beer offering, with lots of events”. The pair is hopeful for an April opening.

He’d be flat out like a leopard , trying to get his $pots changed.

Sounds like the history of Australian social life, condensed. It’s been done to death, Chris. Poor Julia. Til debt do you part.

I hope they don’t owe their suppliers or staff any money before they start their new venture. I don’t understand though how they could cry poor to the ATO but then talk of launching a new venue/business.
A commercial business (bar/restaurant) that is losing money would not have sold for enough to cover their ATO debts.
Interesting situation to watch unfold.
