The Biggest Loser – The First One Eliminated

The Biggest Loser Challenge Australia, Elimination#1 Rodger Turner (52)

Ararat might go from Australia’s fattest town to Australia’s richest town with the weight the contestants are losing. The town receives $300 per kilo lost and the first weigh in gave them over $30,000. However not sure TEN will lose money on this grand gesture as the overall winner of the show only receives $50,000 not the $200,000 – $250,000 the previous winners have received.

For the first weigh-in there were some pretty impressive results with Cameron dropping 15 kilos and Craig 13.4 kg.

Mary dropped 11.1 kg but was disappointed it was not more. Cameron and Mary were on the  blue team  and they were the first team to weigh in. Katerina also lost 6.6kg,  Rodger lost 5.9kg, Shannon, 6.2kg, Natalie, 6kg and Matt, 9.1kg.

For the black team had a two kilo buffer from winning the challenge last week which Mary cacked out on. Cal lost 9.5kg as did Caitlin. Jane lost 10.6kg, Toni 9.5kg, Sharon 8.7kg, Kerry 12.5kg as well as Craig’s 13.4kg.

The black team was safe.

Rodger keeping up with his nice guy image decided he should be nominated for elimination as he felt he could cope on the outside. Mary was also put up as her attitude had not been 100 percent. The black team decided to keep Mary and allow Rodger to sacrifice himself, you got the feeling he was a tad disappointed.

However all on The Biggest Loser is not what it seems as once he was out he was into the loving arms of Michelle Bridges who will be training him and he gets another shot of getting back into the competition.

The remaining contestants then had the temptation challenge where the person who ate the most calories would win $30,000. The winner inhaled over 3000 calories, but it is yet to be revealed who it will be.

Long time viewers of the show know the $30,000 will come with a catch that was not stipulated. Normally they can have the money but they have to leave The Biggest Loser house.

The Biggest Loser on Sunday to Tuesday at 7.30pm on TEN.

SPOILER>>>>>

I read that the $30,000 comes out of the towns money.

That blonde bitch should of been up for elimination instead of Roger. God I hate her so much.

Wow Fiona, tell us what you really think of her.

I’ve just seen the encore. Mary is a whale surrounded by sharks.

It is true the $30K comes out from the town money. No surprise there as they always deduct the money from the prize money

Poor Mary, they always want to get rid of the one who needs to stay the most first.

Yes, Mary need to be in the house but she need to up her game. When she told Shannan she trained longer, she only burned an extra 35 cals. Mary should be able to burn more as the HRMonitor uses weight in the calculation for cals butned. We didn’t see how Mary train but her teammates could tell how hard she trains

I don’t think the producers have done their homework very well. I’m sure they have the best of intentions for Ararat… but I can see just too many opportunities for it all to turn to shit.

ANYONE that takes temptation money will be looked down upon in Ararat.

Voting Rodger off will have all Rodger’s friends and family disliking the people that voted for him (even though he put himself up).

This show might start with everyone being friendly neighbours… and kind of knowing each other etc… but we are only a few episodes in and we can see serious derision happening.

If they just eliminated the person with the lowest overall percentage since day 1, there would be no need for teams… no need for alliances… no need for voting.

No-one would care that Mary was being lazy and not training and keeping her team safe. That would be taken care of at weigh in… as she wouldn’t have the numbers to stay.

Previous shows have been with people from all over the country… and they didn’t have to see each other again after the show was over.

I’m sure we’ll be seeing this on ACA & TT in months to come where the town is divided and there are feuds all over the place.

It’s only taken til the second week of the show for the serious derision Carol (wte) mentions to emerge.

I’ve already noticed Supermarket Cam twice shaming Mary that the mothers in the Blue team are flogging her on the track. This is after we’ve been fed Mary’s back story about being too obese to have children etc. Cam thinks “a lot of people look up to him” in Ararat.

I can see the show creating some lasting bitterness in Ararat, too.

Carol (without the e) – you make some very good points there.

Thanks for the spoiler Fiona…. NOT

11 brain dead dave { 02.06.14 at 10:15 am }

The so called Spoiler was appropriately tagged ,Trent and it’s been old news for three or four days at least if you’d been watching the show.. What’s your problem?

12 Carol (without the e) { 02.06.14 at 10:40 am }

Agree BDD… if people haven’t watched the show for a few days… WHY would you come to a message board and read it??? And if you did… WHY would you complain about finding out about something that happened THREE DAYS AGO?!?!?!?!

13 Littlepetal { 02.06.14 at 12:48 pm }

What spoiler? ???

14 Carol (without the e) { 02.06.14 at 12:51 pm }

We think he’s referring to comment # 1… which was days ago!!!

15 Andrea { 02.06.14 at 1:14 pm }

Carol without @7, you made very valid points, I never thought about like that.
This show might divide that Ararat community.

16 Carol (without the e) { 02.06.14 at 1:27 pm }

Thanks Andrea.

The sad thing now is that it’s too late to do anything about it. It sounded like a good idea at the time… but I don’t think the community feeling of Ararat (as a reasonably small country town) was given much thought.

“The Biggest Loser is a crass attempt to make entertainment of a serious problem,by enticing desperate people to participate,putting them through a gruelling and unrealistic regime of exercise and diet”
This is from the head of the Medicine discipline at Adelaide Uni who is also chairman of the Weight Management Council of Australia.

Yet according to $hine and the Ten network:

“The wellbeing of our contestants has always been and remains our number one priority”

That’s harder to swallow than a Loser shake.

#14- I know Carol (without the e). It was a cheeky comment because it was not a spoiler at all. Every year its the same. They always deduct the payout from the pot,

BiggestLoserSecrets sometimes 3 weeks between weigh-ins, for the 2008 series the shortest time was 16 days (according to Cosi)

75% of the 2008 series (TBLOZ) are back to their starting weight and about 25% have had gastric banding or surgery (according to Cosi).

1kg per week loss is an average in the #RealWorld
