My Kitchen Rules – Very Disappointed With Pete Evan’s Mystery Box
In the mystery box where the teams had to pick a box of ingredients from Manu’s pantry or Pete’s all three remaining teams were wanting Manu’s. Did they think Pete’s would have tofu, kale and activated almonds in there. And where was the coconut water and fat? Very disappointing.
In fact his looked like the better box with seafood and pork, so Vikki and Helena who were stuck with it were not disadvantaged.
The producers really must think the audience is dumb as the whole plot line of the “feud” between Chloe and Kelly and the twins is getting tedious. Yes we get it they don’t need to let us know every five minutes that they don’t like each other.
The five teams from the losing black team were going head to head with MKR’s version of a mystery box. This time from fans of the Facebook page saying what they had in their pantry. Each team received a different box with different ingredients.
Helena and Vikki were underwhelmed with theirs and did a Chicken Roulade filled with Feta with a mushroom sauce. It did not look good on the plate nor did it taste good. If the episode had only been the one challenge they would have been sent to the sudden death cook-off. However they just had to cook again.
Paul and Blair showed they were dark horses in the competition. Plating up a fairly sophisticated dish of Barramundi with Bacon, Peas and Asparagus with Rocket Pesto. Their rocket pesto failed in flavour as it was bitter (surprise) but the judges made them safe.
Cathy and Anna’s pork cutlets with apple sauce even though they were a bit dry was voted the favourite dish by the other teams and they were safe as well.
Annie and Jason’s lamb was under cook or ala MKR style as it should now be known. Also their vegetable stack was more oily capsicum with some chewy haloumi on it. Annie also needs to learn that if you give a taste of your herb mixture to your husband to taste wiping the spoon on your apron then shoving it back in the mixture does not kill the germs.
Chloe also severely undercooked the salmon in their dish which was served with a potato rosti and salad. They would have been kicking themselves as they would have got dish of the day if it had not been so raw. These cooks need to realise that the way they might like it is not how everyone else will want to eat it.
Cannot wait for the team to say that they like their steak well done so this is how they are going to cook it…..
Jason and Annie, the twins, and Chloe and Kelly then had to choose which of the judges mystery boxes they wanted, however there were only two of each. Kelly out ran the twins to the bench and grabbed the second Manu box with Vikki and Helena left with Pete’s. Of course Kelly thought she was clever doing this. The longer she is on screen the more irritating she becomes. Say what you like about Sophia and Ashlee but at least they had some wit and delivery with their bitchiness.
The twins made a delicious looking Snapper with Skordalia, Vegetable Ragu and Prawns so maybe they got lucky getting Pete’s. The twins know how to cook but they appear to be struggling.
Chloe and Kelly took a risk and cooked Seared Scallops, Cauliflower Puree with Crispy Bone Marrow. The bone marrow was crumbed and deep fried but the judges loved it and it was the stand out dish in this round.
Annie and Jason were having issues with their Crispy Skinned Duck with Blood Orange Sauce, with Annie having a brain explosion and forgetting how to cook. What she meant was cook without a recipe in front of her.The sauce was too sweet and they barely put any on the plate as they did not want the crispy skin to get soggy. In Jason’s quest for the perfect skin he overcooked the duck.
They were told they would be in the sudden death cook off against Carly and Tresne, the two regional NSW teams going head to head. It should be an interesting cook-off as both teams have the same skill level.
My Kitchen Rules on SEVEN Monday to Wednesday at 7.30pm.
