My Kitchen Rules – Bree Freezes Out Jessica

Last night revealed who on their teams thought they were the stronger cook. After planning a dish was about love they were told only one of the team members could cook it. No surprise that Bree and Paul stepped up. Uel decided he was the one to cook on his team as it was his meal, and Helena wanted to cook instead of Vikki. Her rationale was that she actually had a boyfriend and she cooked for him all the time. Yeah I don’t get it either.

Bree was cooking Ocean Trout with Oysters and Miso Sauce as well as soba noodles and chinese greens. It was too much for one person to prep in 45 minutes and it looked pretty bad on the plate. Only some of the dishes got the not so crispy skin on it. They had no hope of winning the jury vote. In fact they were always going to have to cook again. Anna who has been in the My Kitchen Rules bubble too long said after tasting it she was devastated as it was her favourite fish and it had not been cooked well. First world problems and all that.

It was Paul who put up the best dish with a very nice looking Fettucini Marinara and Tarragon Sauce and they easily won the vote. However it was surprising the judges decided to pick Helena and Vikki to be safe ahead of Uel and Shannelle. The twins had an incomplete dish of Beef with Peppercorn sauce but left off the croquettes. But perhaps the undercooked duck breast was the greater sin. However it was a bit harsh conisdering Uel’s Fennel and Pear puree was deemed to be restaurant quality on his Duck with Peaches two ways.

It was Bree and Jessica and Uel and Shanelle then having to cook a chocolate dish to avoid being sent to the sudden-death cook off against Josh and Danielle.

Bree conveniently forgot she was the reason why they were there in the first place and place the pressure on Jessica to cook her dessert of  Chocolate Molten Cake. Jessica started crumbling when the cakes collapsed because they were not cooked and was also stuffing up the praline. Bree then told her that “she can’t fight for both of us”.

Uel and Shannelle were having different problems with their Deconstructed Snickers, which was a good idea in concept however implementation was another story. The chocolate mousse did not set therefore they turned it into a smear on the plate. Also Uel added a tablespoon of salt into the caramel. Shanelle then tastes it and adds more. No surprised the judges nearly gagged when they tasted it.

Long story short was the judges hated both desserts and the salted caramel was the thing that tipped it for Uel and Shannelle to be sent to the sudden death cook off. I cannot see them beating Josh and Danielle who if they don’t try and get too tricky should win.

Shannelle did not look happy and barel responded to the hugs from Bree and Jessica. Bianca sobbed when she heard then news. Harry and Christo last week and her next best friends probably gone tonight.

As predicted, producers’ choice stay in the competition.
Undercooked 62 deg. egg (didn’t they do this in that breakfast challenge?) and overcooked dry pork (the star of the dish) makes a win? UE had a bad appetizer but their ribs were praised albeit the dish (mainly sauce) was a bit sweet, but the star of the dish, the ribs, were good.

Ice cream with some avocado droppings (bird poop) and ganache must have been a lot better on Pete’s and Manu’s tastebuds than the creme brulee. Of course it had nothing to do with the food but with the producers. Easy to figure out how many points needed for producers’ choice to not be eliminated and just give the win to J & D.

Was very surprised, too, that J & D were given an 8 by Liz w/ the complaints about the pork and the egg.

Once again, a fail.

Daisy, have you been watching “Resurrection”? Definitely not as good as “The Returned”.

Smythe, no I didn’t expect it to come close and the recorder was already busy. But I wouoldn’t miss the Returned.
I am trying to find time to watch Rectify but haven’t gone past ep 1 yet. It’s well worth keeping on eye on what SBS is doing these days.

Smythe, I watched resurrection last night, it was really good. Something a bit different.

Someone has a thing about ‘R’ it seems. Revenge, Rectify, Returned, Resurrection. What next I wonder Repeats?

Poor Uel and Shanelle, I felt so sorry for them, they deserved to stay, it was Bree and Jessica’s fault they were there in the first place.
The judges made sure Josh and Danielle were going through.
Wonder how Danielle felt when Josh told her to shut up?
Why do all the nice ones seem to go? Now there are only three guys left, hopefully a girl team will go next.
I’m sick of the deconstructed and smear efforts too.
Sandii, I enjoyed “Resurrection ” too, it didn’t move too slowly.

Andrea & Sandii, don’t know if you have watched “The Returned” but I think it’s a lot better than “Resurrection”. Catch an episode on TV if you can or see if you can find it as a streaming video on the net.

Daisy: Rectumfy…LOL MKR should rectumfy the situation with the fake judging and the poor decisions as to who gets eliminated.

Georgie: There is also a show called “Revolution” and there was a very bad program, IMO, with Sarah Michelle Gellar aka Buffy the Vampire Slayer, called “Ringer”.

Not only do we now have the circle of empowerment but also lucky coins which are kept in the bra as per Carly.

No Smythe, I haven’t watched “The Returned”, when is it on? I haven’t heard of it, it didn’t get all the publicity that “Resurrection” has. The only thing wrong with it was far too many ads.

Manu’s hair must surely be on the short list for a knighthood or at least a tribute like this one to Brendan Nelson’s hair (RIP)…

Suggested ‘R’ winter viewing is Rwin Reaks!

Or should I say Twins Peaks on DVD. The grandfather of all quirky non-linear shows! Over 20 years old. And it petered out towards the end – but what fabulous viewing. And the theme ‘Falling’ must now be playing in your head.
