The Block Producers Play Their Get Out Of Jail Free Card
Julian Cress, the Producer of The Block has today said that teams could come out of auction day empty handed. He told news.com.au that the contestant’s should not expect $200,000 plus profits that was won by all team in the last series.
Clearly he has to moderate expectations as there was THAT season that Polly and Waz one where some of the teams made no or very little profit.
“We’re in uncharted waters ($2 million),” [Julian] Cress says. “It is a challenge. We have to achieve a 100 per cent clearance rate — to sell all four of them — on the day for everybody to make money.
“That is not a certainty. At Richmond (The Block 2011) they didn’t all sell on auction day.
“The way we try and protect ourselves is to build something that is unique and therefore highly sought-after.
“I would like to think that bidding will be spirited because we are offering warehouse-style apartments in Albert Park, a suburb where most people have to settle for a terrace house.”
Kyal and Kara are favourites to win.
