The Block Producers Play Their Get Out Of Jail Free Card

Julian Cress, the Producer of The Block has today said that teams could come out of auction day empty handed. He told news.com.au that the contestant’s should not expect $200,000 plus profits that was won by all team in the last series.

Clearly he has to moderate expectations as there was THAT season that Polly and Waz one where some of the teams made no or very little profit.

News.com.au states:

“We’re in uncharted waters ($2 million),” [Julian] Cress says. “It is a challenge. We have to achieve a 100 per cent clearance rate — to sell all four of them — on the day for everybody to make money.

“That is not a certainty. At Richmond (The Block 2011) they didn’t all sell on auction day.

“The way we try and protect ourselves is to build something that is unique and therefore highly sought-after.

“I would like to think that bidding will be spirited because we are offering warehouse-style apartments in Albert Park, a suburb where most people have to settle for a terrace house.”

Kyal and Kara are favourites to win.

We’re all winners if Chantelle has left Steve by auction day.

I did like Kara and Kyle’s outdoor and rooftop area the best with the twins and the boys coming close second. I couldn’t really pick it between them. Not one of them stood out from the other.
Sorry but S&C ‘S didn’t do very much for me at all, especially the bed and the cheap timber cupboards. The thing I did like was the long cafe bench along the window, good idea.
Loved the K’S vertical garden and arch window. The outdoor area coming off their living room opened living area up a bit which it desperately needed.
They seemed to redeem themselves with their final rooms. Back to their old stylish selves.

CS’s rooftop was appalling. Even Luke was gobsmacked by how bad it was when he returned from holiday. Cheap and nasty.

The twins roof-top wasn’t very practical (though they did the big song and dance about potentially not been able to sell the apartments).

I agree with Gabby about the Ks and the boys’ rooftop.

Ks have really have acquitted themselves really well throughout the whole series.

Looks like the Block has morphed into House Rules this week. House 2 was lucky to get the super team. I can’t remember who first observed it but the twins are not very practical in their style or listening to the client. Having a shelf that can only fit M&Bs is appalling.

Were they (the twins) filthy or what when the other team delivered the ensuite and walk-in robe. I think if the Block got desperate they could bring the twins back with Dan and Dani, Josh and Jenna for the bitchiest season yet.

Wonder who will apologise to whom first re the previewed fight between S & the twins.

Oh and the dumb waiter…a bit meh after the build up.

Thanks for the links Maz, you were right about the overdrive. Haven’t watched last nights episode yet. Agree with you that House two won the better teams, by a country mile.
